@surkhalam and nevertheless Darwin's "On the Origin of Species" had a big impact on Marx and Engels to the point that Marx sent a copy of Kapital to Darwin (who apparently never got a chance to read it). So please be careful about using terms like "social Darwinists" as if only capitalists trying to justify exploitation, or imperialists trying to justify racism can claim any affinity with Darwin and his (scientifically) revolutionary writings. Also, we are in fact territorial and aggressive.

@castroherman That is not entirely correct. Marx' daughter had was the girlfriend of Darwins son, and one assumes that its that way Kapital found its way to Darwins home. Some also claim that Marx wanted to dedicate Kapital to Darwin, but this is also false. (The letter believed to be from Marx was infact from Georg Aveling, a young biologist.) But it is anyways obviously true that Marx read Darwin and took his main theory to be correct.

Marx's insight of human "estrangement" (or "alienation") is the most important concept to come out of his writing. It is also the one that people have the hardest time comprehending, because it's just too "out of the box" or "radical" to be thought worthy of consideration.

If you can implement socialism with some sort of checks and balances system and a balanced budget requirement it might work out. It just seems like all systems become corrupt... Well then, explain how a society like that described by Karl Marx could funtion without currency and a private sector, that's also a physical limitation because it would be impossible for all goods and services to be distributed equally to all.
