As someone who disliked the video and who has recently begun learning about the 1-inch and 3-in power punches from the DeMile family and others, I must say I did so because the only thing shows is a couple guys who didn't know what they were doing. I personally don't see any evidence that you guys know the bio-mechanics necessary to maximize your potential power output OR, and most importantly, the actual physical damage you could do to each other. In short, it was ignorant.
@Krpi a punch that sent a guy flying into a chair. The fact that all that these guys did was just push them lightly implies they be doin it wrong =/. Though kudos to actually trying. I doubt anyone would be able to do that punch without some serious training.
Lee's target was standing straight up, feet in line and offered no resistance. The guy didn't fly anywhere either, the chair was something like 20 cm behind him. Here the guy clearly resisted and you can still see the impact snapping him back.

The guy that was being taught needs to learn to relax. You need to be fluid. Until your fist hits the opponent(in which when there is contact, you push through) it should be limp then flexed at the correct penetration of pressure on the opponents body. You will realize you can hit a lot harder if you learn how to throw lightning fast and limp punches. That's a bad way to describe it, but anyone who knows non-western martial arts should understand.

this video does not show the one inch punch. first of all they are only getting like 25% the power of a one inch punch. Secondly, they are basically twisting their hip like a hook punch, and that is not how it is done. I know this because I have seen somebody do it in real life, with the same power as BL. It is an inpulse, you don't pull back or follow through.
I thought the one inch punch wasn't really an actual technique meant to be used, but mainly a demonstration that Bruce Lee could generate enough velocity in a punch to cause damage, even though he only had one inch in which to build it up (just to give an idea about how quick and powerful his real strikes would be).
@brottarnacke yes I agree. it is more of a spiritual exercise, like to develop your focus etc. My TKD instructor in high school showed me this, I can't do it as good as him, it's just practice. He said "it is all in the velocity of your arm". But they aren't doing it right in this video, because they are barely tapping each other.
With a one-inch punch the power comes from the core of your body. You gotta put your hip into the punch. Also your fist rocks upwards when delivering the punch or blow.These guys while established MMA fighters aren't doing it right. The guy arm is too loose as well. A real one-inch punch can literally catapult you away depending on how much of your core strength you put in it.
Try to take a one inch punch from Shi Yan Ming.

The guy that was being taught needs to learn to relax. You need to be fluid. Until your fist hits the opponent(in which when there is contact, you push through) it should be limp then flexed at the correct penetration of pressure on the opponents body. You will realize you can hit a lot harder if you learn how to throw lightning fast and limp punches. That's a bad way to describe it, but anyone who knows non-western martial arts should understand.

He was on an interview where he politely said that Bruce Lee was not a professional fighter and that they never really got in each other's faces about who'd win, but it's pretty obvious that you don't compare a non competitor to a pro champ. Chuck was already a Karate champion before he met Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee studied judo wrote in his book that he lost faith in all Chinese martial arts. I say this as a realistic Chinese

His friend Bob Wall talked about an incident where Bruce took down a guy who tried to fight him and beat him up on the ground. Bruce Lee created a "style without style" and he didn't care about race or nationality. That's one of the reason he was loved by so many different races.

Or do you mean the kind that Bruce Lee introduced, full contact sparring with protective gear in order to go all out and get a real taste for what real fighting is all about, not that phoney "tag your it" fighting? this video does not show the one inch punch. first of all they are only getting like 25% the power of a one inch punch. Secondly, they are basically twisting their hip like a hook punch, and that is not how it is done. I know this because I have seen somebody do it in real life, with the same power as BL. It is an inpulse, you don't pull back or follow through.

I thought the one inch punch wasn't really an actual technique meant to be used, but mainly a demonstration that Bruce Lee could generate enough velocity in a punch to cause damage, even though he only had one inch in which to build it up (just to give an idea about how quick and powerful his real strikes would be).

He said "it is all in the velocity of your arm". But they aren't doing it right in this video, because they are barely tapping each other.

With a one-inch punch the power comes from the core of your body. You gotta put your hip into the punch. Also your fist rocks upwards when delivering the punch or blow.These guys while established MMA fighters aren't doing it right. The guy arm is too loose as well. A real one-inch punch can literally catapult you away depending on how much of your core strength you put in it.
