  • Seriously, who on earth tries to swing a blade (cut 5) using an early medieval sword/Viking style, with their wrist supinated? Tit.

  • Comment removed

  • @nivenheim People often use the phrase "celtic knot work" when what they are actually talking about is Anglo-Scandinavian Knot work, wrongly attributed to "celts" and by celts they actually mean the Iron Age British peoples. Celt is a Roman phrase which originally meant people from Turkey, which came to mean loosely, anyone not from the Roman Empire.

  • @Squirrelfish Celt comes from the Greek Keltoi, and was used to refer to people from Massalia, which is in modern France, the Romans turned this to Celtae. I've never heard Celt used in reference to Turkish peoples. The Celts were pushed from mainland Europe during the Germanic Migration, around this time "interlace" artwork shows up in the general area, and is spread to both Scandinavia and the British Isles, a later re-mixing of the styles gives us "Insular Art" which people now call Celtic.

  • Lol cold steel, your swords are overpriced.

  • Damn I need meh one of thise

  • ( o Y o ) <-------boobies :)

  • Why is there a fat guy chopping with a non viking sword in this video?

  • @lumskkat Because thats what cold steel is all about. Strange guys devastating strange things. I love cold steel x)

  • you can tell where all this meat goes when he is done with it.

  • cool i guess ,but its 2011,when and where is there an application where you would use this?

  • @rlta04 pwning noobs on WoW

  • @rlta04 when you run out of bullets

  • That's pretty impressive. You should hire someone that looks intimidating to wield it in order to show it off, though. Just saying, no meaning to offend.

  • would you say this is suitable for killing zombies?

  • True. Viking swords were awesome, but why is it always some outta shape guy swinging it. Doesn't really look inspiring!

  • lynn thomspson is a fucking nut job

  • can someone stop fatty from slicing up watermelons and cardboard? I can do the same with a kitchen knife....

  • With this sword , not only can you cut through meat , But you can stab incoming flying oranges

  • this sword seem to be very light and small, compared to mine.

i got an 8th century sword from Legacy arms.

  • this man is the ultimate chod

  • FUCKIN LOSER

  • Never underestimate the power of fat people with sharp instruments.

  • the mats used in this video are a fail. cold steel forgot the bamboo lol.

  • truely amazing he manages to slice anything with that backhand cut... that was weird xD

  • @tripskun There wouln't be much point in making a double edged sword if you couln't.

  • Does not even resemble a Viking sword. Wrong blade, weird pommel etc.

  • @Metalheadyup They never said it was a 100% authentic viking sword...and it does resemble a viking sword, dont be silly.

  • @buttlord123

Call me silly all you want, but it does not resemble any I've seen. Mostly the pommel and blade that is iffy.

  • @Metalheadyup Are you an expert on Viking weaponry you big silly goose?

  • @buttlord123

No expert, but I dedicate a lot of time to read about Vikings, weaponry, equipment etc. I am also an active "reenactor".

  • @Metalheadyup In that case, can you tell me of another company that makes a more accurate usable viking sword replica? In in the market at the moment, I want to buy one soon

  • @buttlord123

I would choose Albion if I were going to buy a fabricated sword. But you should check out Tinker as well.

You could also check out Windlass ^^

  • @Metalheadyup the problem with albion is, well, they are like the laboghini and ferrari of sword manufacturers, in referring to quality too, but mostly in terms of price @_@

  • @elgostine

    They are quite expensive indeed.

  • @Metalheadyup

I agree with you. It looks... what can I say, Saxon? English? It doesn't resemble my idea and knowledge of a Norse sword.

  • @Andreazor

Yes, it does resemble the typical Saxon swords a bit more, although the so called Saxon hilts are found on swords in Norway as well ^^

The pommel looks really off though.

  • @Metalheadyup

I reckon the Vikings did regular trade with that area, so it's not surprising they'd be trading weapons as well.

It's not really a saxon sword either considering the celtic patterns =p

That said they did share a lot of things in the area at that time, but this is not the "traditional" viking sword.

  • why is he cutting bambu all the time ,when he need to cut some weigh?

  • 1:02 lmao its a cardboard tube xD... yeah i would HOPE your sword could cut through that

  • @Breathor THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!!!! XD

  • @Lagg3r778 hahahahahha :|!

  • The stupid documentaries deadliest warrior should have called this guy to represent the vikings agains the samurai instead of those two stupid no technique guys.

  • so what my kitchen knive does the same ow wait that is a viking sword

  • Why is he wearing shorts and a sweater?

    Also... Accompany..ments.

  • do u think it can cut some one in half? maby with to hands?

  • Hahahahhahahahaha, of course it's a fat virgin who is playing with swords cutting inanimate objects.

  • thats way too EPIC

  • Woah! He looks soo serious, especially when cutting the rolled mats, looking reeal tough. Bad spanking memories i'd say

  • Someone, please tell me what the hell kinda shirt this goober is wearing!!

  • No!!!!! not the watermelon, save it for me!!

  • he should trim a bit off his hips man

  • Can anyone tell me how much a sword like this would cost and where would I be able to find one?

  • I want one of these for the kitchen and yard. How much are they?

  • DONT FUCK WITH FATTY

  • pretty badass when you can slice through a watermelon

  • that's an amazing sword

  • Well done! Assuming that the sword was forged using ancient techniques and not modern ones.

  • awesome

  • lmfao his face looks so serious!

  • Arm before body on the thrust, son!

  • Enter flashbacks of the watermelon growing from a tiny seed to a lush plant full of life then blossoming with lovely flowers and eventually having it's own fruit; then, they end up on this video. Oh the agony!

  • @madhayro2 thats a good idea...

  • @madhayro2 On the other hand... This makes serving watermelon so much easier

  • @megahurtz30 That's a good point... Well assuming they actually eat it, that is.

  • LOL this vids are alwas so lame. But have awsome weapons.

  • I rather to run away than have a fight again him o__O

  • You can tell it's too heavy.... he has no control as he wildly swings at the large toilet paper roll.

  • @zmonkartemis He's just not strong enough like the vikings who used those swords hehe

  • Vikings used there swords with finesse, strength has nothing to do with it. Skill with a blade will beat Strength every time.

  • @Gratch2222 It was a joke.. however, he's just not a very good viking then is he? :D

  • @Crux4nsata I'm unable to make that assessment since I've never fought him.

  • how to chop a watermelon :P

  • Subsite slightly obese and kind looking american with a viking of those days. That is some serious damage. PS, Norway rules the rest.

  • Anyone back in the day that was that fat was very rich. Your average Viking I'd wager was thin and fit.

  • Well i own a cold steel O katana and its by far the best sword i have ever owned. And i have had paul chen katanas and they simply arent as well made. period.

  • wow, you cut an orange a melon, a water bottle, some some japanese placemats, a rope and some bacon, your officially a man

  • @icannotfalter lmao

  • By Odin! Rape the village and Burn the women!

  • @mongreleater

How do you rape a village, buddy?

  • @mongreleater You mean burn the village and rape the women lol

  • Cool video. The sweatshirt and shorts is not a good look though imo.

  • hahaha double Tatami great

  • Great video, Not much chance against that..

  • me like

  • Shouldnt there be bamboo inside at the end...

  • lol

  • it are tatami mats so no there shouldnt be bamboo inside. it is done though to replicate an arm or a leg or something but its not neccerary.

  • @Xc31 Eh i see everyone else putting a stick of bamboo in the middle so idk. Especially with the Japanese sword smiths.

  • wasnt he the guy from the blowgun video??

  • his name is Lynn Thompson owner of Cold Steel knives. csknives on YouTube

  • viking swords thicknes in Estonians museums: 4 - 4,8 mm from guard and 1,8-2 mm other side.

and we have one 1000 year old shield in museum : human skin 3 mm and 6 mm pinewood.

No plywood shield, no bigger thickness sword ---and you viowave read more sagas, how vikings used weapons.

viking age sword was very sharp and very thin. This sword her is sharp enough but sword grip ---to big....and warrior to big :D

  • Hmmmm....yet another two-handed Viking sword. I'm really starting to like these things, historical or not.

  • If a Viking sword came in contact with a Katana, Would one of them break?

  • No. Edge on edge - both would end up damaged though.

  • no I think it would be an equal match cause they are both very strong swords of war. And plus, it depends on the swordmans skill level.

  • best vdieo og a sword test iv seeen

  • The sharpness of this sword is also it weakness ... In those days you got shields made of a couple of layers of wood - covered by leather. How harder the attacker hit the wood how deeper the sword get stuck into the wooden shield ... this could result in ending up that his swords arm is unprotected. Well his opponent who defended could now easily chop of his arm.

  • That's why you don't just shop at the shield and try to force an opening or attack the shieldsman's swordarm during his strike. But yes, sharpness is a weakness in a sort, since sharper edge is thinner and thus more brittle.

  • yes you are right.

infact in a real sword combat

a sword is moderately sharpen and have a bigger thickness becouse it must resist

when you sharpen a sword like that in the video

after a few heavy contact against another sword you see the many dints along the edge becouse is too thin, nobody medieval fencing expert use a sword so sharpen and even in a real combat is wrong.

So definitely this sword is not "battle ready"

is only for fun to cut little targets or light combat.

  • the free hanging rope, now that was impressive...

  • woo my katana vid got featured watch it plz!!

  • lol nice word choice. I'm sure you're really really tough, because tough guys always talk shit online right? Anyways how many are you bringing? I wouldn't want to get bored. Idk I'd say I could take about 25 15 year olds so....lets see.... about 30 of you and your friends? Anyways I'm sorry that you have to talk shit on the internet just like other cyber warriors because you can't beat anyone up in real life. And you probably have a tiny penis. : ) have a nice day we've both said enough.

  • oh god... a fat guy in short shorts not good...

  • a fat guy in shorts that could chop your arms off

  • a 4 year old with a sharp knife could cut your arm off too.

  • yeah, but it would take so much longer.

  • not rly no.

  • It would. But I'm not going to debate this with you because your knowledge is based on runescape.

  • no it's not. just because my name hase runescape in it does not mean i'm basing stuff off of it, you little jackass.

  • yes. yes it is. what kind of dousch puts runescape in their name? Anyways, you wouldn't call me a jackass to my face because I would chop your arms off : )

  • how about i kick your fucking 12 year old retard fuckface ass mother fucker.

  • wow its a verry sharp swort

  • wow the viking sword is sharp as the katana

  • that guy know hou to handle a sword

  • NICE!!!!!

  • vikingr sword with celtic knot...err not quite right different culture

  • Holy shit!

and here i was thinking samurais were cool

  • where can you buy a blade sharp like that? budk?

i need to know for the zombie apocalypse.

  • Google 'zombie tools' first link.

    Im prepared for it.

  • Google: KultofAthena

  • terrible technique.

  • Not really.

He holds no wide shield on his left to counterweight his movements, has no Brynje on him, no helm and has no opponent facing him with a large, round shield.

Viking era warriors had mostly similar gear, sword was made to counter that gear.

We don't see the demonstrator slashing an over the shield to the neck, or under the shield into the leg -hits, but I am content with those he did do.

  • where can you get that one?

  • That's probably type Xa, in which case the grip should be around 9-10 cm long.

  • like almost every viking sword made in the world these days, the hand grip is waaaay to large. Extant period swords were in fact very small between pommel and X-guard, 6cm-8cm.

  • There is evidence that the Vikings were the first to forge weld metals of different qualities together to get a flexiblitiy with edge-sustaining hardness. Long before the first katana billet was every folded.

  • @pistolleer yes but there have been damascus gladius found in a roman battle sight so damascus has been around for a crap load of time. and really when you think about it how does one get bronze. by combining two different metals and you and i both know there is know way we got that right the first time so there would have to be some weird copper mixed swords or knives out there.

  • @pistolleer not true the pattern welding was used in Europe first by the celts they found a sword from 8th century BCE acctualy they abbandoned it in europe mostly after 9 th century when they invented blast furnace and made better quality steel.... but yes patterwelding was at its zenith in viking era :)

  • very sharp sword but its funny to see this guy swings his left hand behind his back after the slash

  • he looks like a fat Robert the Bruce from Braveheart...

  • fuck he thinks hes cool

  • yes, and he is

  • man, where do you find these shirts? i see you always have a shirt like this one, only different color :)) ...is it a official cold steel shirt?

  • gotta get me one of those

  • That watermelon great shape

    hahahahhahah!!!

    and nicely sword...

  • at 0:49

    Who want's watermelon?

  • he would kill you

  • he has so many throwing weapons that you couldn't outrun and if he gave you a sword he would still own you!

  • are you realted to him r just struck a fancy?

  • I think i have a hint in what you're getting at, but to be on the same page, can you please clarify what exactly makes the guy a moron at 1:18-1:20?

  • Can you tell me the technique in which he was using, at this interval in time?

  • I think i see what you're talking about. I saw that he was holding the sword handle, with the blade sticking away from his body, potentially leaving him open if his swing missed.

  • Not only is the swine open to an attack, but the technique of which he used was not that of great skill. It looks like he just, fucked up a little. Do you agree, or are you gonig to further your pedantic argument?

  • Yes, i agree with your explanation. Also, the manners I offered were not intended as a sneaky way to attempt to spite you, whatnot.

  • I agree he is fat. I would not like to face him in a real skirmish though as he would cut me up.

  • yeah definitely, he looks funny in those shorts lol. But give this guy a sword, he could destroy a tank.

  • I may be wrong, but I think I remember using the katana in Grand Theft Auto:Vice City for the Playstation 2 to finish off a tank after shooting it up a bit with the 9 mm pop gun.

Anyway, I didn't know they even still made sharp swords, I just thought they made the stainless steel false edged ones....you can get a replacement new 1000 year old sword (if you dulled the one you found in the river..), yet I still can't find a needle for my linear-tracking turntable from the 1980s.

  • holy dude!

  • i have never seen anyone cut ropes before!

  • I've never seen strike like in 1:18. that's really interesting.

  • Shank that cardboard tube dude! SHANK IT!

  • I'd like to see him cut down an 18 inch diameter hardwood tree with that sword..at the trunk in one slash.

  • he beat

    the meat

  • he beat HIS meat....lol

  • Gotta love the biker shorts.

  • i love swords

  • awesome and deadly... :D

  • the bottle thing was cool except.........whats wrong with your backhand???? so bad!!!!

  • WASTE OF WATERMELONS!!! DDD:

  • Umm...Could I have a slice of that watermelon?

  • wtf is he doing after he made a diogonal strike doing a backhand wtf ?

  • I wouldnt want to cross that fat guy.

  • The Viking era started in Norway, then spread to sweden and denmark.

  • @baronblod2003 That cant be estimated mate, since Wôden (What the western germanics believed in) was "Odin" or "Oden" as we know him in nordic mythology. The germans then moved up in the north to Scandinavia, and there the religion blossomed.

  • i can do that with my little kitchen's knife too.......

  • fat tubby guy trying to be a NinJa -sigh and nods-

  • hedesigns these knives

  • ..Huh? you talking Crap??Wermo

  • wha? lmao
