Those aren't dead all you have to do it cut off the pointe fabric and they would be perfectly usable. There are many girls in my class that wear thier shoes until the are like very dead I will post a video of my first pair soon. THEY are dead.

I killed my pointe shoes like that as well... I had the same issue of not knowing when they were dead. The shank on one of my shoes literally broke in half, but I didn't realize that was bad, so I kept dancing on them for a few months. :P Oops.

@simfan97 It means that they are now too soft and broken in to use. If your pointe shoes are dead and you keep using them they can really damage your feet because you need the hard wooden support to be able to go en pointe

@msguineapigsrus yea... i am XD ive been dancing on pointe for almost 7 years now thank you very much. those shoes are just oddly colored and have they top frayed. dead is when you start to roll over them. these shoes could easily be saved with the right kind of upkeep. try jet glue.
