not bad, but you should never leave the door open like you did at the beginning. you can get just as much airflow into the firebox by leaving it open an inch or two....and a big log like the one you started it with would never fly for a small stove, or if it wasn't properly dried out
@Bags305 Well once again I was 21 before I had my 1st running water for any length of time & lived where it got to -60 F. By the time I was 6 I had cut & stacked more wood than most do in a lifetime. I leave the door open so people who are going to freeze in the bush can watch. Not that it matters much in any case as I'm standing right there. I made this video as a learning tool for others, not to be taught. Same thing as an old Innuit no use teaching them about snow okay.
@katwillny Read my comments below. If someone wants to complain about me stoking her at 3:15 then they know where the wood pile is. Then it just wouldn't be Puffing Billy. If it shows wear though then I suppose I'd better spoil the whole thing. The point of this demonstration was to show persons that it is always best to place wood all on then use your last match, lost found a cabin or in bush 3x3 or larger tipi, one match no adding onto small start up sticks.
@4inches4u We don't always use our stove & let it out at night so usually around 2.5 cords of wood which I scavenge a lot of from garbage dump for the green foot print. They burn way too much & it should be piled seperately from scrap wood. To keep a winter without supplemental heat we used to have at least 12 cords in wood shed. A cord by the way is 4x4x8 ft in case 4u lol.
Ya & go away snow. I'm ready for spring. of course that means May long weekend here & yet more cold & snow. Where's that kindling, is my margarita ready babie? lol.
When I hear that squeak I know somebody else is making fire on the weekend & after some real loud crackles it's time to crawl out of bed & have coffee :)
Just got my first stove thanks for the video it was really helpful as I heat my whole house with it now.
