@ArmorReconCa He's the secret boss of Soul Calibur 3. You have to do perfectly in Tales of Souls mode, all the way up to the final fight. Instead of fighting Abyss, you'll square off against Night Terror. At that point, you can lose to him as many times as you want (and will). Once you beat him you unlock a special challenge mode where you can fight him with any character.

Warning for the wise, don't get hit by that laser. It rapes 50% - 75% your health with one hit.

OK First, Abyss is a mutated Zasalamel in body & mind 'cause of absorbing Soul Edge & Calibur energies into his body by means of summoning an energy siphonizer black hole mojo from the abyss dimension. Night Terror needs a cheat device.

Abyss is unlocked by defeating him in Tales of Souls after you've acquired all other unlockable standard characters (Yoshimitsu, Sophitia, Rock, Cervantes and Olcadan) OR by fighting 750 battles.
