  • been a long time since i commented on one of your vids dave :D

    brutal as ever, love it.

ignore the dicks who say "you can't understand the lyrics" they are talking absolute shite, the vocals are well enunciated and sound awesome dude.... maybe a little less reverb next time. but other than that their fucking sweet.

    keep it up :D 9/10

  • for one, it entertains me that kids are commenting on this like "d00d you need a better screamer!" because for some reason bands need a clean singer and a screamer so they can reach their hair flipping quota i suppose? secondly, toxic avenger gets you a +1 sir. And lastly, i dig the song, except the high screams are a bit grating, although i'll admit i've never liked high screams. Gimme some Demilich, Dismember, and Suffocation any day. Oh, right, and the production is tight as fuck.

  • People who mock that they can't understand the lyrics must have zero experience with death metal, it's pretty easy to understand the vocalist is growling.

  • I am surprised at all the butthurt fans here. Grow up, no?

    I must favorite this. o.o

  • @TheMysticWombat

    Sir, we salute you

  • Dislike... that is all!

  • @Jukle0

    any reason why?

  • @ryangaston88

We may never know exactly why.

Suffice to say my best estimate involves him having left the hall.

  • Thats cool seeing as how im a not a screamer, that would be my buddy, whose way better then you. You might wanna go get checked for that throat cancer pal

  • @SynysterVengeance993

Screaming properly from the diaphragm doesn't give you throat cancer.

Doing the inward breathing, microphone cupping, half assed faggotry that the bands you like and, I'm willing to bet, your "Friend who does it better than us" does....THAT will fuck you up.

  • ew

  • The screamer is absolute shit, and this band blows ass. How dare you even say Trivium, Atreyu, or Bullet For My Valentine are trash. Listen to your own band you stuck up egotistical fuck. Your band sucks the shit from my asshole

  • @SynysterVengeance993

Dude.....listen to YOUR own song k?

I can afford to be egotistical because this kicks ass, with the song you uploaded, I'd say you can afford to maybe jerk off a homeless man one day for loose change, IF you're lucky!!

  • @SynysterVengeance993

awww bless you... look at the little baby throw all his toys out the crib...

youre just a butt-hurt little pop metal fan that doesnt like dave because of the videos he made....

i'd love to hear you scream better than me buddy... and it doesnt count if you put the microphone right up to your mouth and make it do all the work like your 'metal' heros do ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @SynysterVengeance993 rofl, listen you silly little immature piece of stale vomit. if you don't like the song.... fuck off and don't listen to it, just go back to your mothers titties like the rest of your faggoty little friends. grow a pair of balls and get a good band of your own. then maybe people will take you seriously. but i sincerely doubt it. because your a douche. simplez :D. x x x

  • @TheGuitarguy5

That's a shame....because that's the whole reason people invented genres. I don't think they're too loose, we're exposed to more music now than in any other time in human history, of course we need more genres.

  • @Paranoidave

Dude, chill your song is fine, although I agree with this guy, the words aren't distinguishable. And dude, you take the time to refute everything anyone says against your band. Stop being such a cry-bitch and take it. If your know your music is good, then don't worry and stop wasting your time responding to people who hate. And genres are the death of music. Look at the philosophical side of music instead of headbanging all your brain cells away.

  • @jonnydarkfall

That's fair enough, but I still completely disagree about the genres thing. HOW are they the death of music? It would be so much harder to make and publish music if everything was just lumped together alphabetically....

  • @TheGuitarguy5

"Do what I say or you'll never get anywhere" wow, that's UNBELIEVABLY fucking arrogant of you to say such a thing. Also I'm pretty sure NO-ONES formed a death metal band to get famous. We do it because we love to do it, simple as.

I happily take advice all the time from people who have a certain amount of experience and knowledge on the subject, not some (no disrespect intended) cocky young kid who can't even identify the genre we play in the first place....

  • @TheGuitarguy5

...yeah, hate to burst your bubble but you just named 3 deathcore bands and a Melo-death band......and none of that changes the fact that the lyrics of this song are pretty obvious...maybe you're over-thinking it, maybe you just haven't listened to enough screamy stuff, but compared to Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Cryptopsy, Carcass, Nile, etc. this is crystal fuckin' clear.

  • @TheGuitarguy5

That's just my point....I don't think its a matter of "we can't tell what the singers saying" more "YOU can't tell what the singers saying".

If we're being honest, I think you don't quite know entirely what ACTUAL death metal is, or listen to much of it, because there are PLENTY of bands way way WAAAAY more incoherent than us.

And of course we took the solos out, that's why the only song we have with a solo in is 4 years old......like I said before.

  • @TheGuitarguy5

My attitude to solos is that they're not necessary. This song has about the closest thing to a solo in our songs, sure we have instrumental breaks, but I don't fill it with pretentious widdly-widdly bullshit.

If the lyrics were any clearer we'd be talking. The only valid point you have is about the drums, which I admit, was some lazy programming on my part. You criticize parts of the song for being typical, and others for not.

I think maybe death metal isn't for you?

  • I just wasted 3:00 of my life on this crap.

  • your band sucks, your singing sucks, you suck. stop trying.

  • @TalkMorePlz

As long as it keeps annoying jealous little nerds like you, that's all the encouragement we need to keep going :)

  • fucking un original

  • @zSliz1

just out of interest... who do we rip off if this is so unoriginal?

  • @ryangaston88 try lich king, dont count the vocals

  • @zSliz1

is that a band or a song title?

  • @ryangaston88 band

  • @zSliz1

    I'm sorry, but we don't sound a fucking thing like Lich King.....for a start, they're a thrash band...and we're not.

We wrote this song in 2006...Lich King didn't even release anything untill 2007.....so I can TOTALLY see how I used my "generic thrash band time machine" to proper effect

  • @Paranoidave u may not sound like lich king, but ur fucking generic.

  • @zSliz1

Now if you had just said that in the first place instead of claiming we were ripping off a band in a different genre who formed AFTER we did then maybe I'd be less inclined to think you're a total mong.

  • @Paranoidave i said in the first place that it was un original, but there was some idiot that read it as "they ripped off a fucking band" so i gave an example of a generic band. read my first comment and its replies

  • @zSliz1

Ryan SPECIFICALLY asked you "who do we rip off if this is so unoriginal?"

    and you replied "Lich King"

I think YOU need to read your own comments.......

  • @Paranoidave it's that guy's fault that he misunderstood me...

  • @zSliz1

No. It's 110% absolutely your fault.

You SPECIFICALLY SAID...."We rip off the band Lich King" How the fuck else are we supposed to interpret that?

Stop fucking about, be a man and admit you're wrong.

  • @Paranoidave are you a fucking retard? is your brain there just to separate your ears?

i first said "fucking unoriginal".. and that guy asked me "which band do we rip off"

i said fucking unoriginal, didn't mean that you ripped off a specific band.

when that guy asked "what band" i put a name of another generic band " lich king"

    you fucking moron.

  • @zSliz1 I should ask you the same question......look at the exhange exactly, here's a condensed version "You guys are unoriginal" "who do we rip off" "Lich King" The fact you seem so fucking retarded you can't even UNDERSTAND how anyone could mininterpret that speaks volumes. A not retarded person would have just said "You guys are unoriginal" "who do we rip off" "No-one, I just meant you sounded generic" DO you under-fucking-stand yet?
  • sounds a bit dronish, poor solo's, wasted 3 minutes cheers

  • @shadowf3r4l

Well sorry your majesty. You didn't have to watch it you know.....althoguh cheers for the solo comment. I am very anti-solo in my writing so I'm glad it pissed you off.

  • @paranoidave

    Exactly : syranic trans[s]ilence

  • @paranoidave

Ok verry good song guys sorry for the oser coment but i know a song mutch beter than this one : syranic . Listen to that and enjoy

  • This is also pretty good, in my opinion. Thumbs up.

  • i dont know how this could be better than trivium. definately not better. maybe better than carcass, but not trivium. only bits and pieces of the solo. definately not better than triviums solos. vocals.... are okay.

  • well who gives a shit about solos?

  • Dude Troma movies kick ass! Badass song as well.

  • *thumbs!*

  • @joeygladsaget

Troma Movies and Death Metal go together so very nicely.

Both are extremely crude, brutal and humerous for the sake of it.

  • @Paranoidave haha, that they do, toxic avenger, killer condoms, cannibal the musical, I love them all, and I love death metal!

  • "maybe better than carcass..."

well thankyou!!! but i really doubt we are...

but if we are even anywhere near as good as carcass then surely by default that makes us 10 billion x better than trivium? lol

  • @youngb1ood better than carcass?....

  • dude holy shit this is awesome.

  • :D thanks

  • wow this is even better then Holocaust of Life

  • sweet... cheers man... glad you like it...

this is our first song...kind of.

  • our first song as groovy Death metal and not as Folk-infused melodeath that is, lol.

*Misses the glory riffs of "Helldevil", That weird Emperor sounding track we never named and "Knergeizer will fucking kill you all"*

  • or the even more obscure and mostly completely tuneless very early stuff like parade of the trollspawn before it was even a real song and before we were knergeizer...

    ahhh the ponchomisyde days :D

  • BLASPHEMY BY THINE CLAWS OF BOWSER!!

    TALES OF THE NORTHERN CRAG!!!

Oh yeah, was chatting to sam and we got a few ideas for the pisstake Deicide song, thinking it should be called "Internment in Hull" (listen to "In torment in hell" :P).

Just a banal cover about temp work in an office, you could even have the phone call at the beginning.

"I believe upper management will prepare a place for me"..etc.

  • hmm... i dont really remember northern crag

bowser thoughl... wasnt that just noise knee slapping and us singing the mario theme?

  • Pretty much. Northern Crag was off the 1st EP, I think the tracks I did with you ended up as the 2nd EP.

I wish they still existed. :( lost in time.

The reggae cover of Nargaroth was sick though, we should redo that "keerr---ie-ie-ieg BUM DUM RUMDUM DIDDLY DO"

  • man i still got regge ist krieg!

black.... metal... ist soo kriee - ee- eeg

  • man i just filedend that shiznit for you.

dont you dare upload it lol.

  • no insult to you dude, you've got skills and i your stuff is cool, but these idiots saying that your shitting on Slipknot are retarded...i'll explain...

two different genres.....two different fan basis'..... they have millions of fans and are famous world wide.....you have a bedroom and a few thousand views.......okay enough with the explaining now....

keep it up, you are very good and i look forward to hearing more...but until your as big or bigger than they are, stop hating on them :)

  • hey yo woah... those videos weren't made by all of us... just one member...

  • "but until your as big or bigger than they are, stop hating on them :) "

It really gets my goat when people say this because you're essentially saying. "No-One is allowed to have an opinion on music". Funnily enough you don't become a bland opinion-less drone the second you pick up an instrument, as shocking as that might be to hear!!!

  • okay, fair enough i retract the last part of my statement, everyone is entitled to an opinion, and to voice said opinion.....blah blah blah.... but even you have to admit that to become as huge as slipknot you need to have talent.

like i say, you guys are really good and i look forward to hearing more, but just because another band doesn't suit your palette doesn't mean they are shit. it just means you don't like what they do. and your opinion should be worded more appropriately.

  • But as I say to everyone. People should have the common sense to figure out if a guy says "so and so band is shit" then that means that it's his opinion.

He SHOULDN'T have to put "Oh blah blah blah in my opinion" or "...but thats just my opinion".

They are words that he is directly saying.....who elses opinion is it going to be?

  • dave has a point...

you probably think boy-bands etc suck... and you have the right to word it that way... but its still your opinion...

  • dave has a very good point.

and i'm also really bad at wording things due to me being dyslexic. but i will try again and hope that you take my meaning this time.

just because you dislike a style of music doesn't mean a band playing it has no talent. i'm simply saying that although you dislike what they do, you cannot deny the talent they have.

i downright hate some styles of music but would never say the person making it talentless or "shit" i would simply say. "not my kind of thing"

  • @Paranoidave Paranoidave=enlightened musician......and all your haters are just retards attempting poetry.....in fact they are poetry in motion....they are all a bunch of blind, lame, foolish imbeciles....and Knergizer is 10x better than slipknot will ever be.....GOOD JOB!

  • @Kasharicdaims sorry....Knergizer is shitting on slipknots face....because we're judging metal as a whole....not just these little immature factions.......this is the best new metal band....and Slipknot's chode can't beat this shit!

  • how many times "immature factions"....yes because the Genre of music is immature. let me see, would you put coal chamber and immortal in the same catagory? or pantera and mindless self-indulgence, fuck no.

so stop putting death metal and metalcore together. they both have their qualities and i will never deny their talent. but niether is better than the other, because the make different styles of music.

    next argument please.

  • but going back to what we were saying earlier.

ok so you may like to word your opinions on things in a certain way ("not my kind of thing") but other people dont always speak like you. A lot of people will say "Knergeizer is shit" and genuinly believe it, but that statement isn't any more or less valid than "not my kind of thing". They are both an expression of opinion. Just worded in different ways.

Even someone commenting on talent is still stating opinion.

  • nicely worded, and a statement i can't fault in any way. i just personally believe that wording things slightly different avoids pointless arguments. causes less problems and generally you get better responces from people.

  • well yes and I agree in most cases.

however when someone is making a joke (i.e. the slipknot & trivium videos) a lot of the comedic value would be lost if the comedian had to word all their jokes in a certain way so as not to offend anyone.

  • oh i have no qualms about joking, hell i make jokes about some really sick stuff, my humour goes beyond black. and people often misunderstand my meaning and take offense.

i've watched those videos numerous times and think they are great.

its when people become serious about said statements, if its not your taste so be it. but verbally (or via text) insulting it is out of order in my eyes. its on par with racism, you don't like it, you say it, its out of order.

  • but even when people are serious about these things its still their opinion .

Even if its rude, offensive, insulting... its still an opinion. People are allowed their opinions and opinions never hurt anyone because they are just that individuals feelings on a subject. Opinions themselves dont affect other people's opinions.

So why does it matter if some people's opinion is insulting? It's theirs, and has no relevence to you... because you have yours.

  • lol, christ. stop with the constructive arguing. i' m replying to these at like 1am. i can't think quite well enough at this time to argue. its not fair :P

i know its making mountains out of molehills. but opinions can cause alot of havoc. look at religion. christian, catholsism and protestants.... all pretty much the same religion when broken down. yet wars have started because of the difference in opinion.

i know that was irrelevant to our argument but i just wanted to point it out.

  • lol ive been writing my replys in the early hours of the morning too... thats no excuse :P

opinions cause havoc when people let themselves become bothered by other people's opinions.

e.g "i dont like your religion so we are going to invade you and convert you to christianity" - this is an example of someone being bothered or annoyed by someone else's opinion on religion and then causing havoc because of it.

    Dont let opinions bother you,

  • 1/2

damnit :D.......hand ups, step back away from the descussion and hang your head in shame. i lose..... god damn constructive arguments and their aweful plausability :P

damn this argument has gone on for months, and changed topic practically straight away... my original comment was about how you guys and slipknot (i use slipknot as an example because so many people have mentioned them, not because i'm a fanboy btw :D)

  • 2/2

are two different genres and should be judged so. they should not be catorgarised together.

by saying that your band is shitting on slipknot they are essentially breaking down a genre devide to say that one is better than the other. which makes little sense if you think about it. they are nothing alike so how can they be judged against each other. chalk and cheese. black and white. its like saying bob marley and is shit because carcass are so much better. different genre.

  • your statement is correct, the two bands are nothing alike and it makes little sense to compare them. I think the original guy who said "this shits on slipknot" was responding to the many people who have said to ParanoiDave (on his Wargazm video) things like "he rips on trivium and slipknot but then trivium and slipknot shit on your band wargazm", that guy was just responding by saying this shits on slipknot.

And yet, compare the two bands or not, its still all opinion ;)

  • point well made, and i think this draws the descussion to a conclusion. we seem to have a choice, continue debating what has already been descussed, come to a standstill or agree to dis-agree on certain aspects of the debate and admit that most of our beliefs are pretty much the same.

i concede to the opinions debate, if people didn't let other peoples opinions affect them, opinions will never cause any harm. there is no way i can or would be able to argue that.

  • when are you guys going to post some more songs btw?

  • @Kasharicdaims

I dont know if we will post all our songs to be honest... we only have like 5 i think just now... and if we give them all away for free then who will buy the ep when we've finished it lol

  • when is the ep going to be availble? and where am i going to be able to buy it from? not looking for specifics just a vague time and possible places. also a price would be nice :)

  • @Kasharicdaims

message dave with an email address and we can send you what we've recorded if you like

  • Goddamn...THIS IS METAL!

  • hehe thankyou...

have you heard the other track we have on youtube? "Holocaust of Life"

  • is that toxic avenger for real (down right screen) okay you guys pwn XD

  • damn right that's Toxie!

:P the whole lyrics of this song are kind of an overly literal description of the plot of the film.

  • im starting to really like your band :D ill look for your new stuff often ^_^

  • dude....You must forgive me....for talking shit about your skills...'cause this is awesome....This does dwarf Trivium and Slipknot....

  • Mildy disappointed with the guitar, slightly boring.

  • Omg, im sorry I had this on my internet all night, listened to it a fe times, but omg i fu could here the trivium bullfrog voice in teh backround, I mean trivium, they have that annoying bullfrog voice sometimes, but u motherfuckers hate on them so much, and then u ahve the same shit in ur songs, wtf, man, I mean Ryan and David... I like u guys man, but wtf is this bs...

  • nah... there is a big difference between dave's gutteral vocals and trivium's 'bull frog' noise (i like the metaphore by the way lol)

gutteral vocals are a lot deeper and more gurgely

listen to 'burn' by Grave... thats the sort of vocals dave is doing... only dave has his vocals too quiet in the mix so you cant hear them very well...

    quite different from trivium...

  • What the hell? These sound nothing like metalcore vocals...are you stupid? Or are you so musically ignorant you can't tell death metal (albeit bad death metal like this) vocals from trendy metalcore vocals?

  • I meant they are no where mainstream where I m from

  • Thats a great Guitar solo, but I garentee u Trivium can play that shit too, I like bodoms instrumentals, but its so so stupid how we have to have these band arguments, I mean there is certain bands that obviously dont have talent, and its clear that certain bands do even if they are a little mainstream, and honestly Trivium is mainstream, at least where im from, I dont know where the fuck ur from, sweden or some shit I dont,

  • I can understand ur hate cuz ur some Viking barbarian mofo's, u need some cut peoples stomach open with a spoon music.

  • lol... we are from the UK...

trivium is mainstream in any place with a metal following...

  • Lol metal is an afterthought where Im from. But Im guessing as far as mainstream metal goes, yes Im imagining Trivium would be mainstream.

  • I think they will eventually ditch the screaming again, just not liek the crusade where they sounded like a 80's half thrash/half hair metal band. Still some quality songs on that album, there lyrics were extremely shitty though compared to Ascendancy and Shogun. Anyways, im not hating on your band, just getting some kicks out of Dave, rock on motherfuckers!!

  • Yes they do I heard the Children of Scrotem Puke noise vocals and turned that shit off, immediately. Fucking terrible.

  • ....but you like Trivium???.....

Matt Heafy sounds like a retarded bulldog having a fit in some porridge.....at least with Bodom there's some enunciation.

Also if you turned it off immeadiately how did you even have time to listen to it properly?

  • More of a fan of the choruses, and Guitars, with Trivium, they have the best choruses, of anyband IMO, thought the screaming was a little to much in ascendancy, though it grew on me because I was forced to listen to it, just so I could hear the rest of the song. Shogun they did a much better job with the screaming, even though on some songs its a little annoying, like in "into the mouth of hell of we march, awesome song except when he does that one annoying noise.

  • this sounds like some Children of Scrotem rip off, got to love the the puke noises for vocals.

  • ......This doesn't sound AT ALL like Bodom sir....

    GTFO of metal.

  • (youtube . com) /watch?v=d8F3t-F_grc

listen to this from 2::45 onwards

(there are no more vocals from here untill the end)

Its a sweet solo/duel between the lead guitarist and the keyboardist

Matt heafy or the other dudes from trivium would love to be able to play like this ;)

and it sounds nothing like us (knergeizer) at all

  • Your music is really good. I remember when the "Emo Fag" video came out, you sound like you've gotten a lot better at vocals. In the meantime, I would also like to point out how funny it is that people are attacking you. A lot of people seem to forget that other people can have opinions different from theirs, and they haven't learned to roll with the punches and whatnot. Anyway, keep rocking! Cheers!

  • the ultimately funny thing is there's only a year difference between the recording of both these songs xD

It IS someone else doing the main vocals, but I am doing the gutterals.

  • Yes, I gathered from the info but still, very good. It's always good to get away from the main stages and listen what other bands have to say. Sometimes, bands just starting out and playing in clubs and whatnot are more powerful and expressive than bands that have been weakened by the lifestyle. Of course, this isn't ALWAYS true, but you get the idea.

I've been working on the death/black metal vocals as well. There's a difference in the styles, but practice and not hurting your throat is key.

  • Comment removed

  • 2 things wrong with your comment.......

"Better" is a concept that comes down to personal opinion

Are you seriously suggesting people who play music should stop having opinions on the work of others?

  • Comment removed

  • I never said the bands "sucked" in my comment did I? Stop grasping at straws and argue properly!

So me making fun of bands who are more successful than mine = Wrong

Yet YOU can do it to Knergeizer, who I'm pretty sure more people have heard heard of than your band......hypocrite.

  • Comment removed

  • ...Just how exactly are my opinions being presented as anything OTHER than opinions in those examples?

Also my comment still makes sense as those are quotes from my videos...I did not say it in my last comment did I.

  • it would be funny and ironic if someone did an interpetation of your music........but it should be done like what you did with your COB interpretations, and be a friendly poke :)

  • that would be brilliant if someoine did that to us... id feel honoured that someone thought us worth the time.

  • I nearly broke my neck. LOL. This is epic.

  • :D thanks!

  • dude you should make an interpretation of your own music. bet it would be the funniest of them all ... -_-

  • Not really...Ryans got quite good enunciation, and I already know what the lyrics are (I co-wrote them afterall)....so it would end up being a kareoke video.....oh wait...hang on....OH! I see what you did there, you were trying to make a funny.....sorry I didn't understand it, your mum was blocking my view.

  • can you not take disapproval? not everyones gonna like your song. i personally dont mind it, its pretty good. but you gotta learn to take some criticism man.

  • I can take criticism.

But there's a world of difference between genuine criticism and daft shit from pissed off fanboys.......

  • daves got a point...

we couldn't give a flying fuck if people like our music or not... its fun to make...

But we can and do accept criticism... just not the angry ravings of a pissed off slipknot/trivium fan :P

  • I'll contribute to the debate, not sure where to reply to specifically though :P

Agree somewhat with dj, and somewhat with Dave also.

I DO write my songs based upon bands I idolise... I have a song I wrote called 'Hostile Onslaught,' which I later found after writing it to have a riff in it that starts with the same rythm as the E power chord in Countdown to extinction.

Personally I believe one of the most influential metal bands over the last few years has been Death.

  • Agreed. Just been getting into them...even Darkthrone acknowledge them as a huge influence (Scream Bloody Gore mainly) for the first album.

    R.I.P Chuck.

  • Whats even funnier is that Bullet were called Jeff Killed John.....hahahahaaaaaaa.

Anyhoo, stuff has pretty much come to a...ahem,"standstill"....Uni seems intent on devouring our souls.

That and a rather large demand for comedy songs.........you know what I'm saying Dave.

  • Holy Shit man.....just listened to this "Jeff Killed John"

...Apparently some UWIC chemistry students tried to clone "fakesoundofprogress"-era Lostprophets back in 2000....and there was some.....accidental by-product!!!

  • Ryan, as for your idea, I must say, that as my last reply said, Trivium and Bullet have not really gone so far from what they started as. Avenged Sevenfold are a rock band, thats what the band call themselves and just because little emo's think they are metal does not make it so. They are rock, simple as that. So i say to elitists, stick with your Death Metal, I'll stick to what i like and we can stop arguing because it eventually comes down to taste and opinion.

  • Have you heard early Trivium?

I live in south wales....word is before they were signed, bullet sounded COMPLETELY different....also early avenged stuff?....TOTALLY different to what they play today.

Whether you like it or not ALL those bands have strayed from how they started....fact.

and calling us elitists...how fucking condescending of you.

  • I said Dave and Ryan you are elitists, then did I?

Wait up, nope cant recall that ever happening, i hate to quote myself but it seems ever so needed here as you cannot help but take things out of context; "So i say to elitists..."

There you have it, broad statement, i was referring to anyone who considers themselves an elitist.

Try not to put words in peoples mouths, it makes you look ignorant.

They may be different to the innovators of the genre, because they fall under a different genre.

  • I'll quote you as you seem incapable to see the context of what YOU say...

"So i say to elitists, stick with your Death Metal, I'll stick to what i like and we can stop arguing"

The only people I see you arguing here with is myself and Ryan........in effect calling us elitists.

  • However you've said things like,

"The elitists hate most pop-metal bands,... " "but the elitists don't dislike..."

now, explain to me how you feel that me implying that you are elitists is so condescending, and yet the for most of your points have been what they think.

If you are so against being referred to as an elitist, don't speak for them.

give me one song by any of the artists that sounds like: Love Story - Taylor Swift, it's #1 here.

then i'll believe they are just following trends.

  • I'm surprised that point confused you....of course we're metal fans...so we're BOUND to know elitests within our own circle....dummy.

Thats why we can speak for them.....Taylor swift isn't a Rock/Metal artist....so your point is redundant. Metal has it's own trends. You might as well say "Coldplay aren't mainstream because they don't sound at all like Akon"

  • True, metal has its own trends. But who sets them?

I say that lately it has been Trivium.

    You will probably say different.

    Its just opinion.

I live in Australia, and for the last probably 5-6 months there has not been one rock/metal magazine without Trivium, Bullet or Avenged mentioned at least (many times featured) on the cover. That is just the way it is. Like it or not.

i cant believe that this entire argument started after a compliment and advice. Ha

  • It sucks to be Australian, most Australian metal fans listen to shit music... that and 99% of Australian metal is cut/paste American shit.

  • Shut up or I'll sick my dingo on ya.

  • im sorry... there is only one australian metal band thats worth mentioning... that's 'the berzerker' and theyre awesome... completely different to anything youve heard... unless your a carcass fan :P

  • The Berzerker isn't the only good band to come out of Australia, they also got "The Amenta" and IMO, it got me out of The Berzerker.

  • I'd say no singular artist can set a trend. It's always a zeitgeist type of thing. I know a lot of people say 'Korn' were the first Nu-Metal band. But bands like Helmet kind of had a slightly nu-metally sound previously.

For every band that gets signed, about 300 others that sound exactly the same don't. It's a great risk signing a band thats 100% original and brand new as there is absolutely no market for it.

If those bands WEREN'T on the cover of those magazines.....then noone would buy it.

  • That is very true. You're obviously passionate about music, and therefore you probably already understand that bands will generally get their sounds trying to emulate THEIR idols.

The amalgamations formed bring about new styles. There will always be bands that sound the same. I still (and will always) say that Avenged Sevenfold stand out. Even when they were more metalcore, they have different techniques, chords and scales. M. Shadows voice is like no other voice i know of.

    They are amazing

  • I never said it was condesending, dave did. I will agree that, to some extent i have elitist qualities but then i also like an array of other music types.

But whether or not im an elitist is not the point: you still decided to ignore my points.

Trivium, for example, started off as metalcore (see 1st album) then realised people laughed at metalcore so they changed to (weak) thrash then when people didn't like their new style because it wasn't heavy or melodic enough they changed again.

  • I see your point. I just don't agree that they did it for commercial gain.

To illuminate; Trivium, 1st 2 albums, were very metalcore, unfocused and guns blazing. As most bands do when they start. Their 3rd album they wanted to go back to there thrash roots, they have always said that Metallica has been a major influence, They were heavily criticized after that album. If they had ever sold out, it'd be changing again in Shogun. The band said that Crusade was what they wanted to hear and play

  • I see where you're coming from. I'm pretty sure someone on this site links to it, but there's this old Trivium interview from 2003 where they define themselves as metalcore and identify most of their influences as such.

I just found it strange that in 2006 they did a complete U-turn....and then back again 2 years later.

It's like how BFMV used to be a Nu-Metal band called "Jeff Killed John", there's some videos on here, absolute lostprophets rip-off

  • Oh i totally agree.

Trivium did fuck around. I just think that they changed to what they wanted to be, and changed again to what people wanted them to be.

The Crusade was getting to their roots (so they say) it was probably their least successful album yet. So they changed back to what made them successful. THAT is selling out to me.

As for 'JKJ', they changed their name, line-up and style. BFMV and JKJ are not the same band. BFMV obviously don't want to be associated with that monstrosity.

  • Indeed. In doing so would effectively eliminate they're fan base. Though i daresay that any BFMV knows of this.....just locals....me included. They lived on my street.

  • I like how your comeback revolved around ONE completely superfluous line and missed out the MAIN points...

    1) most mainstream bands like Bullet, Trivium A7x etc will change their style to follow the trend so they keep making money. (MOST pop artists do it)

    2) elitists hate most pop-metal bands, not because they are popular, but because they distract people from the true innovators of a genre.

  • True true

  • of course it comes down to opinion.

If knergeizer got popular most elitists wouldnt hate us because we wouldnt be creating weak, mainstream, comercial, marketable metal. We would just be playing the groovy Death Metal that we always set out to play.

The elitists hate most pop-metal bands, not because they are popular, but because they distract people from the true innovators of the genre. These bands that stay true to the genre dont get anywhere near the credit and exposure they deserve.

  • Maybe in a few years every wannabe, poser, and kid will be wearing a knergeizer shirt and have their bedroom walls plastered with knergeizer posters, would that make you any less of a musician? Would you then accept that many people who believe themselves defenders of the genre would then hate you?

  • I really doubt that's gonna happen.

Knerg is a 3-man project with an incomplete line-up. If UKDM is gonna be the next big thing (which is pretty unlikely as it is), there's hundreds of bands more deserving than us.

As long as we didn't COMPLETELY change our style to suit what was popular, I'd be more than happy with it.

  • Haha, you kinda just dodged the question there didn't you. That answer doesn't really go beyond the first sentence of the question.

  • As I said.

As long as we stayed true to the original vision I wouldn't feel bad about any of those things or have any doubts.

  • but the elitists don't dislike this pop-metal because its popular; they dislike it because it is weak and watered down to make it more accessible to a wide range of kids. It is distracting people from the vast range of fabulous music the underground scene has to offer.

As long as we [knergeizer] didn't become some piss-weak bastardization of death metal, and what we set out to do, then i dont think elitists would ever feel any need to hate us.

thats what dave was trying to say i think

  • I ams articulats.

  • Well your serious stuff is far better than your comedy, but I've heard a millions of death metal songs that sound all too similar. The solo was a good mix up, made the song stand out more. Just one thing, bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium are all famous because they stand out from the crowd, the way they are marketed gets them their additional fans. The type of music they play is what people of now want to hear, but they were playing it far before it was popular.

  • except the early stuff from those 3 bands all sound drastically different from their current stuff.....:-/

  • That maybe so, but do you still listen to the music you liked 10 years ago?

Musical taste changes, and for a recording artist most of the time they play what they want to hear. And I tend to think that album after album of the same old thing gets pretty boring.

  • "That maybe so, but do you still listen to the music you liked 10 years ago?"

Well 10 years ago my favourite bands were Oasis, Blur, Space and The Offspring.

Space and Blur haven't released anything new in over 5 years. I own the most recent Offspring AND Oasis releases.....so I think that answers your question ;)

Bands styles DO change, but it's a steady process. The bands you mentioned had drastic changes over the course of one album that many bands spread over 3 or 4 records.

  • Style change doesn't necessarily mean selling out though. Trivium's only change has been dropping screaming which was because the band didn't like screaming vocals so they tried an album (the crusade) with singing. Avenged Sevenfold have such a wide variety of influences and tastes, they have experimented with other styles yes, but essentially they are a rock band, and what rock band hasn't. Bullet, has only released to professionally recorded albums, personally i think they've gotten heavier.

  • Comment removed

  • i take everything i said about you back this is kickass dude!

    fucking awesome!!!!

  • It was pretty good.

    I like it.

    The drums are catchy.

But you guys cant touch all shall perish.

And the drummer cant touch joey jordinson.

    But it was good.

  • thanks......but as this is a demo the drums are computerized...and can therefore do ANYTHING with 100% precision......so what you said didn't make much sense.

  • this bands animal keep it up its good to hear a new band thats not emo

  • now this is heavy..

  • shit! thats metal as fuck! It sounds like that demon raven i was punching whilst raping that goat!

  • I dont see how u can say that bands with million pound producers and high tech recording studios sound better. I mean ofc they do but it doesnt take high tech to make better music as ryan and co proved here

  • :D thats awesome! cheers man.

but dave is the one who needs the credit for the recording and playing and stuff... i only do vocals and lyric writing...and occasionally help with writing the music
