LETS ALL PUT A PARTY ON IN LONDON 2012 TO COMPETE WITH SYDNEYS WHICH WAS IN NO DOUBT THE BEST EVER CLOSING CEREMONY . BRING IT ON LONDON !! 1 YEAR TO GO AND COUNTING!!
What's the matter Channel 7, didn't Vanessa dress enough like a slut to be on TV? All we saw was drunken yobbos and the hired sluts that surrounded her!
Whether she was lip-synching is irrelevant. It's not just about singing a song. It's a performance. You don't go to a Kylie gig to see her stand still and sing songs. It's the staging, story-telling and dancing which make up a performance. Recording artists have used multi-tracking and reverb for decades and these days Auto-Tune not only in studio but at live concerts. Why not. With an audience of billions there is no room bum notes or mic failures. The performance has to be nailed.
You know, I don't remember a whole lot from the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, other than we were crowned the best hosts of the Olympic Games EVER... I do remember how proud I was, and I don't think we'll ever see anything so spectacular again. Not to mention the thousands of volunteers that gave their time through the games to keep the Park and grounds litter-free... Couldn't have seen a better display of the Aussie spirit than that.
Alright now, to any idiot who ever thought Vanessa would lip-synch - she doesn't have to!! And did you ever consider that perhaps the song on the album sames exactly the same as the one performed because it was recorded at the time it was sung? Honestly, some people make me wonder!
@kane18O umm, if you miss the pre-9/11 world, then you probably didnt notice that millions were starving, and there were millions without water supplies, and millions who cant even go to school. I guess for us in the West, we only know that our lives are so good when we realise that the world isnt a happy place. If you were happy before 9/11, then you didnt notice the hundreds of millions of people who are not able to have three meals a day, like you do. Now it is worse. Are you sorry, still?
@Chuckles123thefish to me it seems the world is still super happy... the only thing that has changed are security controls... people are still partying and having fun -- while the other side of the world is still starving...
@Chuckles123thefish Its amazing how much of Western media and news was and is watered down. because that's likely why so many ppl see this as a 'pre 9/11 world where all was 'well' & 'happy' because at the time most ppl barely knew that so much suffering was going on in other parts of the world. Its sadly extreme ignorance on a grand scale. Now at least, with new developments in tech and communication, there is more global awareness of just how bad things are getting in the world. at least
So true, Beeing a naive young man I thought the world was a wonderful and peaceful place in the late 90s. That feeling peaked when I watched the Sidney Olympics. Man did the world (and I) change since then.......
Look how much fun everyone was having! That was what Sydney 2000 was all about. In typical Australian fashion, it was extremely laid back, but still an incredible event.
You're so right regarding everyone having so much fun...I was fortunate to be able to buy tickets for this event and take my Mum with me...I usually do not bother so much watching the Olympics but this was an experience I would never forget...and that I was able to share this night with my Mum made it even more special, especially since she passed over this last Spring....
Okay, question: why only the music performances? There's more to the closing ceremony than that. What about the Athens presentation?

@kryckeestrooff Those drunken yobbos were some of the biggest athletes in the world at the time. Vanessa Amorossi is merely a guest at their event
