Why dont they just REMAKE THIS GAME exactly the way is is, maybe have a bigger map, more spells, weapons, armor, and grahpics engine. Fuck I can't express how much I love this game. Out of the first three MMO's Ultima Online, Asherons Call, Everquest, this was far the best in my memories. PLEASE Microsoft(Turbine) please if you're reading this PLEASE remake this game so I can feel what I felt as a kid. When I hear the statement MMO I think of this game first.

I can't think of a single PVP game right now that is more satisfying than Asheron's Call coming from a complete PVP standpoint, being someone who played AC and WOW at very high end PVP I can safely say my opinion on the matter means more than yours.

Too bad Turbine is apparently too busy with their most worst games (DDO and LOTRO) to pay attention to this classic gem. Everyone has been getting the "connection to server lost!" issue when the "Connecting" vial fills up and the "Update" one doesn't, this has been going on for 5 years straight, and still Turbine is playing the silent treatment on all of us, including the vets. Pathetic on Turbine's end.

Great video. I think you do a awesome job of highlighting some of the best moments in Asheron's Call. Even up to the point where Aphus Lassel was introduced, I was having a good time. It was after that, that the game started to feel more like work than a community. And it was a wonderful ride.

And all of the non pvp servers dont have anywhere near as many players as darktide. Not that even darktide has as many players as it could. Man i wish i was around for these events. I had to have my dad tell me about them. I wasn't even 1 when this came out. I'm 13 now. This game has still remained the most sophisticated game of its class.

With all the more recent patches Turbine has just been nerfing the game. Now it isn't much fun anymore playing the way everyone else does. Which is why when i get sick and tired of everybody with all of their augs and 10-tinked armor, I get on thistledown and play my purist. He is a Gharudnim staff specialized / melee defense, healing, creature enchantment, life magic, item enchantment, mana conversion, and arcane lore trained. he buffs himself with 1's and 2's.

Watching this brought back alot of memories. I was around for pretty much everything in the photos. WEll done video but the music was to depressing lol. I can remember sitting outside Hebain-To with a buddy and us chatting for hours. I also remember loggign in and runnign around every patch day and trying to find out what all was new and what had changed. This wasn't my first MMO but it was my fav for many years.

Asheron's Call is the first game I have ever played, ever. My mom taught me how to use the computer when I was little.. I still remember they days I ran to Cragstone (is that it, lol?) and got buffed by her so I could go play and have fun.

I played AC from beta (1999) till WoW (2004), left WoW 2 months after Failaclysm launched and returned back to AC. I wasted so many years on a boring shallow game. Since my return to AC 7 months ago I dont think i'll ever leave again. With that being said I will warn you when I came back to AC in Feb 2011, I almost quit after the first hour cause the gfx and character movement sucked, stick with it!

What is this song. I played AC from 2000 to 2010 and yes it was this dam good. My only regret is I missed playing beta. This was the greatest game ever made period. I just don't have any other way of describing it. It makes me weep to think the best times are over. The present is just a pleasant interruption to the past. Man I miss this game especially Darktide server as a noob in 2001. If I saw someone in the guild "Blood" I would be like "OH SHIT!!! RUN!!". Just the feeling of being afraid to die and the feeling you get when you know you just regulated another player, is something that no other PVP game can compare to...not even WoW. I've played WoW for a few years not very long, it doesn't even compare to AC in any aspect whatsoever. I wish I never took AC for granted, what a wonderful game it was.

I was hooked after joining the beta and played on Frostfell from '99-'03 - have randomly stopped in here and there since. It consumed a lot of my high school. I still remember it fondly. It was truly an innovative game for its time. And although Everquest took the gold medal pre-WoW days, I still think Asheron's Call wins hands down!

This is a great game, not much needs to be changed but with a little marketing some improved graphics, minor changes (Nothing to the core gameplay) a fancy box cover and a re-release they could bring in a LOT of players. It's truly a great game - the best I've ever played. It's just too hard for anyone to go back because of the dwindled population. With a re-release you could bring in a lot of new players as well as old. Would like to see Turbine make this happen.

I love AC and quit playing in 2004 and went to LOTRO another turbin online game. I was on winter's ebb in the Sweetypeety alliance. I ws very wealthy and gave everything away when we left. :( What turbin did in lotro was fix all the mistakes in AC and the graphics are out of this world. Now lotro is f2p as of sept 10th. Look me up sometime there as Beloved in Meneldor :)

Ah man, what I'd give to be a n00b again and enjoy those early years of AC... the adventure, the exploration, the fear of death, the cameraderie, the hustle and bustle of the towns with people running around, trading in the center of towns, etc etc.

Yeah, it's just a game... but probably one of the best ever made. 11 years this year for me, off and on. Crazy. There just won't be anything like this once it's gone. Enjoy it while it's here.

@grieve666 ... AC is still going strong with constant updates, last patch was the first of many texture upgrades and imo it looks awesome. It may be 10 years old but i have just returned on the 14 day trial and have loved every second, so much has changed and its far easier to level and make progress than it used to be. Get on the trial and see u in dereth... this goes for EVERYONE that played AC or wants to you wont regret it!

Yeah this video and the one with Green Day song, brings a tear to my eye every time. AC was hands down the BEST of its time. I remember being GM for UO, then moving over and working with MS Game Zone/Turbine as GM for AC. I remember Beta on Black server (pvp server then). Then Morningthaw at launch which is still my home to this day, some 10 years later. End of beta event, life'n magma's in crater, tusker guards, hoary, man those where the days!

AC is a very bittersweet memory for me. My first MMORPG that I played with my sweetheart. But when our relationship died it took AC with it, I couldn't bring myself to play anymore after that.

An evolving storyline, complete character build freedom, and a huge gameworld.

What I would give to go back in time to 99-03. Where the Marketplace was filled, Subway was over flowing, and people could be found in the most random spots. Where servers held thousands, not just 200. Only game with memories like this, WoW doesn't even come close to the amount of fun AC gave me.

I would be back playing this game in an instant if I could get past the networking problems connecting to Turbine's servers.

Graphics aside (which are low on the priority list), there doesn't seem to be a single game out there which offers the variety, character development, interaction and true sandbox nature that AC did....10 years ago - you would have thoguht by now some development studio would have caught on.

Awesome video. I started in '02 and still play. It doesn't have the player base that it used to, but the game is still very much the same and very fun still. The 10th anniversary has introduced some awesome things like 2-handed combat and additional crafting / tinkering. If you haven't played in a while, come back for a month and feed your nostalgia. We've had lots fo folks returning this month.
