@stacyhunter32 Not for a hatchling, for a baby corn snake it's actually a nice size. He's definitely going to have to move it up to a larger size when it gets a little bigger, but baby snakes prefer having a small enclosure, too much space stresses them out because they have a lot of ground to cover to make sure no other snakes or predators are in there.
@morrispcinc Unfortunately many people still have prejudices to snakes ( snakes are evil and they bite, like its in the bible and blablabla...) Ask them clearly why they do not want you to have a snake and then show them that snakes are not slimey or cold or slippy, they're warm, dry and soft when treated right. If they dont want you to feed live animals you can also get a garder snake. They can be fed only with frozen fish (thawed). Visit a breeder and let your parents handle snake
People are saying they don't need light/heating I'm really confused im thinking of getting a corn snake soon and I still need to learn lots :/ plz help ._.
Every reptile needs light and heating. The difference is that not every reptile needs special UV-Ray light. When you buy a corn snake the heat that it needs will come from the light bulb. A normal one from the hardware store will ne enough. You won't need special, expensive reptile light for this species. But if you don't know much about how to care for your snake, please buy a book first that shows you how to keep a corn snake as pet. Your snake will be grateful
If your love your mum post this to twenty people. A girl ignored this and her mum died 365 days later. I had to put this down because I love my mum.
My dad used to own a constrictor, he used dirt and no heat sorce and the snake lived over 15 years? I have a 20 gallon tank maybe a 30 gallon so will that work? also how big will they get? (corn snakes)
@BeardedDragon6991 snakes can live without right things provided but it wouldnt live so healthy and happy. maybe the place your dad lived was usually quite worm?? 30m gallon is a litttlllleeebittt big for an adult, but it will work, dont use it for babies. babies need around 10-15 gallon. corn snakes get 3.5-6 feet. about 70% are 4-4.5 foot. bigger or smaller than that is quite rare. hope that helped ya.
@ElectronixMan 1) no, it's to large for a small snake, it can really scare them because they'll be timid for the first few months and that's a lot of territory that they can't keep a constant tab on, start off with about a 5 gallon and after a while move on up.
2)depends if your house stays warm or not
3)yes
4)yup :)
5) can't really help ya out there, if it's not on the bulb don't use it
@ElectronixMan 1) I'm not really sure if it will stress the baby out from too much space, but, I've been told it is okay to use a 20 or 10 gallon for a baby corn. You can also keep your adult corn in a 20 or 30 to 40 gallon.
2) No, you should only choose one of the two. By using both of them, you may cause your snake death from over heating.
3) No need.
4) I'm really not sure :/
5) If I was you, I'd just buy a new one from the pet store so I know what watt it is.
You will not neet a heat pad. You will also not need special UV-Lightbulbs. Just take a spot from the hardware store. It's much cheaper than the "special" reptile stuff and there is no difference for your corn snake. 250 Watts is extremely overpowered. The bulb holder is OK but you will not need more than a (maximum!) 100 Watts bulb.
@ElectronixMan Just take care of the temperature. If it's rising over 28 degrees Celsius ( average temp in the tank) then take a lamp with 10-20 watts less and try to adjust the right temperature. The red light you can use to get a higher temperature, just put it inside the bulb holder and let the tank heat up ( without a snake in it! ). If you have the right temp (between 26-28 degrees CELSIUS ) you can use it together with the spot lamps to create 2 warm zones.Offer cooler zones
This size might be enough for a baby snake or a semiadult snake. Just give your snake more room by installing several plateaus and platforms. This epicly increases the usable surface for your snake. With this you also create different climate zones and your snaake can choose the temp which is the most comfortable. If you have other questions please contact me via PM. have a good time with your pet
@blackdurga87 You do realise if you are caught by youtube saying stuff like that you could get your i.p tracked and have the cops at your door for making racist death threats i am part of the police in l.a so watch it
@JoiiLife not necessarily. yes, it is far too small for an adult corn snake, but a snake which is around a year old would thrive in this. it is actually too BIG for baby corn snakes
