This was sweet. I'm not much for slow songs but this...This has to be in the top five of my favorite songs. And the video was cool too. It's amazing how someone can understand Elphie-Fabala-Fae-Elphaba in just one song.
What an incredibly creepy song, had to reread the lyrics a few times, but I get it and I love it.
Took me two times to get into Wicked, guess the third is the charm! Too deep to get out!! For the record-I love both Elphaba and Nessarose, maybe its the sibling rivalry-thank you for posting this.
in the picture at 2:26 is the white witch nessa or glinda? im reading the book, and ive never seen the musical. btw nessarose doesnt have a wheelchair, in the book her nanny assists her because she has no arms. XD
Glinda. I assume. The musical and the book are very different - in the musical version, Nessa is in a wheelchair (think about how hard it would be to make someone armless on stage).
@torrinne What about hiring an actress who was either born without arms or who is an amputee. Actors with disabilities do not get much play in the mainstream media, but they do exist. So, yes, it would be hard to make an able bodied actor seem like she didn't have arms, but hire an already armless actor and problem solved. Although, Broadway unfortunately, has not yet begun to think that way.
it is glinda, it is he classic wicked poster, showing the closeness of elphie and glinda, i have read the book and know the musical but not even in the book r nessa and elphie close
I have seen the musical and I'm currently reading the book and I think the musical is a lot better. The musical has a lot more humour. There is nothing that is similar between the musical and the book besides the university (which isn't in it for that long) and the characters.
@emosrule666 The book is years old, more brutal and very serious, but also more realistic then the musical. - I think the musical and the book are to different to compare.
that sucks. Not that you were Nessa, that's sooooo cool!!!! :D But I just wish my school could get the rights. :( But then I would probably be disapointed if I didn't get Glinda... or maybe I wouldn't because I would be in ensemble... never mind. You were probably a great Nessa, and I wish I could have seen it! :D
it's a pretty song, though her vabratto (isn't that what it's called) takes away from it. It's a little to... wild? You know? There's too much. But I do like the song. :)
incredibly! just for the fact that it is not only still on Broadway but also still making billions of dollars a year and selling out like mad. It costs quite a bit for a less popular and earlier made show, imagine how expensive it would be.
@WickedIdinahead444 Just so you know, the amateur rights to Wicked haven't been released yet. So there is absolutely no way to buy the rights, and all amateur productions are illegal.
I've been looking all over the place for this song! I heard it a year or so ago and it got stuck in my head, lol. Thanks so much for uploading it here, I love it! :)
This is a sweet song. I like it. Who wrote this? When was it made? I am some-what confused with all of this. I LOVE Wicked and I have no idea what this is, haha.
Hannah Fury wrote this song as a reaction to the book Wicked by Gregory Maguire (off which the musical by the same name was based as well). If you mean when was the song written, I'm not sure. But I made the video the same day I uploaded it. So basically this is a fan-made tribute to Wicked, using a song that is also a tribute to it.
Very nice! I have not seen the play but love the book. Hannah Fury is a fantastic artist and has written a total of 5 songs based on the book. They are wonderful as is all of her work. Check her out. She is amazing! Her latest release, "Through The Gash", has been named by one critic as the most beautiful album of 2007. I agree.
Yeah, I'd never heard of it before one of my friends told me about it. I guess Hannah Fury wrote several songs based on Gregory Maguire's novel, but this is the only one I've heard.
IS this song in the musical? I don't think its on the cd

excelente canción pero quiero saber si pertenece a el musical wicked o a la película el mago de oz o es solo un tributo para aquello

@fateon21 Es un tributo escrito por Hannah Fury.

It's so weird seing L. Frank Baum's Wicked Witch of the West, then see the 1939 movie version, then see Gregory Maguire's beautiful Elphaba.

Are there any other songs like this not in the musical but based on it?

not if the school can afford the rights... you can preform Wicked if the school buys some copy right... It's just really expensive.
