I haven't been able to find any info on the preformance of Yak-9F's in the Korean war against Allied ground forces. The Yak was the only fighter the North Koreans would allow to attck over Allied controled areas because they deemed the Mig 15 too top secreat in the Korean War (1950-53)
The original p51 design was a co-allition design, the us govnmnt subjected the early prototypes to the brits for electrical and mechanical testing! in its infancy it used a pratt+whitley engine, and would have ended up with a merlin had the need of production models not have been so direct.
Allison Rolls Royce who cares? All the same - Mustang was built for he British and they found it under powered so Allision licence built Merlin and P51 came of age.
Yes I'm sure a Finn like you would be keen to capture it intact and re-paint it with yellow bits! Just cause you never had decent homegrown fighter planes ;)
Это Як-3 а не Як-9. У Як-9 воздухозаборник точно под крылом.

Apparently, one of the variants of the Yak-9 was so lethal that the Luftwaffe ordered its fighters to run away if they saw one.

I'm writing a fantasy novel. And after seeing this clip, there is definitely going to be a dragon chasing the protagonist in a Yak-9 or S-49.

Ironically it actually has an all American Allison V-1710 as used in the early P-51 Mustang designated A-36 Apache by the USAAC.
