Yeah I'm just discovering Twin Peaks for the first time, via Netflix, and to everyone from the 90's who used to watch that show, let me just ask: what were you on? Do they still make it?
@christopherlacroix When you are done with Twin Peaks you can attack "Mullholland Drive". But his ultimate work is "Blue Velvet" which is a modern classic.
Blue Velvet is interesting because it's like a precursor to Twin Peaks. It has the same concept - nice small town infested with secret evil - and Kyle MacLachlan's character could be Agent Cooper at age 20.
Having said that, I personally happen to feel that Lynch's best work is contained in both Eraserhead and Wild at Heart.
Don't pat yourself on the back just yet - that's wasn't the first time some domeless wonder has attempted to convince me that Eraserhead is anything less than one of the 10 greatest films ever made. Too bad you're dead wrong, and pathetic.
It does have meaning, it's about paedophobia and resistance to the responsibilities of fatherhood, with a hamster-cheeked woman who lives in the plumbing thrown in for good measure.
It's also NOT boring, but that one is a matter of opinion.
That is its meaning to you. To me, it has no meaning. Funny thing about interpretation: It's all subjective. Nobody is right. David Lynch himself may be the exception but I've yet to see him explain it all thoroughly.
And perhaps it being boring or not is a matter of opinion. But what is a matter of FACT is that calling a complete stranger a "pathetic domeless wonder" for the simple non-crime of daring to have an opinion that doesn't suit your precious self-centered preferences is, in itself, far more pathetic.
So you can pat yourself on the back for being miserably, laughably "domeless" yourself. Maybe one day you'll learn the universe needn't revolve around your personal views.
You simply wrote "Eraserhead was meaningless boring drivel" as though that statement was a matter of fact, you didn't bother to back up it up with any kind of explanation or reasoning, and you didn't qualify it by adding "in my opinion", despite recognition of subjectivity being something YOU (not me) seem to demand as being essential.
I therefore took your statement to be a troll-post, and where troll-posts are concerned, any response is permissible. x
If you've seen "Twin Peaks," it's both amazing and hilarious how every single aspect of what Homer was watching is directly related to the show; none of it is random.
@DominicJones exactly, anyone should be able to figure it out, I mean they do see the map in the cave that shows how to get into the black lodge, they explain it to us! I also think that THE LOG was something to do with the white lodge, and like the giant is a messenger to mortal earth. Not to mention that Norma tried to fire walk and failed (like cooper) and became even more possessed by here evil side. Twin Peaks his one huge and amazing metaphor. Also the light is just where Laura left james.
The white horse represents heroin or drugs (as per its use in the scene in Twin Peaks in which Laura Palmer's mother is drugged and sees a vision of it in her living room), the dancing represents a shift between worlds (this and the one represented by the White and Black Lodges), the forest is the location in which the lodges are found, the giant is a dweller within the White Lodge and a messenger to those able to communicate with it, and the traffic light represent change so uhh...DERR!!!!
@travisnealtodd70 Guess that dumbass fad is fading. The faggot pretty much got famous because of that fad. Look at 50 Cent he gets no views now artists fade quick today since they all suck.
I just got done watching the Giant's introduction scene not even 10 minutes ago and decided to pause the episode to check on something here. I ended up on this clip for no reason... David Lynch is directing my life.
@KevlarNinja tv show from the early 90's directed by david lynch. Special Agent Cooper likes his coffee black and also loves cherry pies. this is the second time I've seen the simpsons refer to Twin Peaks
I just finished watching the whole series of Twin Peaks on Netflix today. I also have no idea what's going on. Which is probably the whole point of this scene anyway.
@susiesan Really? Okay. Recap: Girl is murdered, a lot of random dancing and cherry pie, murdered girl's father possessed by a demon named BOB, there's a portal to hell in the forest, and FBI agent Dale Cooper becomes possessed by the demon BOB.
Also, I still don't get the horse...Sarah saw it before passing out once...No damned clue why.
