  • I love this song by Don - first time I've ever heard it actually. His warm voice makes any song special. Thanks Mitch for sending this link to me. The Wilburn Brothers had such terrific shows. I watched them fairly recently on a Rural American show - a link which I have lost somehow. Their music has always been great country and they always looked so classy. Thank you for posting this. - Paula

  • This song reminds me of my oldest brother,During 1978. This whole Album drive he crazy and listening to it over/over again. @ the same time he was very intoxicated-driving all over the road, there were No damn cop to be seen, through the winding canyon rd.for a beer run. sure thought i was going to die that night.

  • An absolutely timeless classic in pure, unobstructed country music. They just simply don't make 'em like Don Williams any more !

  • there is still some real truly real country music singers out there, but you want find many on these stations out here who doesn't even know their own type formats and calls it country. it just doesn't work that away trashville, opps, Nashville. we have some of the greatest living legend with us even today, but time is catching up with us all very quickly. please before it's to late, give-em their just dues. Don Williams is one of these legendary Country Music Stars, but remember time

  • Just saw Don Williams in concert on Nov 5. It was an amazing show.

I am so glad that he came out of retirement to do a tour now that he is finally in the COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME!!!!!!!!!

He's been in my own personal country music hall of fame for many years now.

  • My mom loved Don Willams. Listened to him all the time when I was a young man. Listening to him now I can relate to everything he sings, everything he feels and at the same time remember what it was like to have my mother. So thank you Mr. Williams and thank you mom for.....well for being you. I am so glad to see so many people here loving his music, renews my faith in humanity.

  • may i ask if Sir Don is still Alive?... ive always wanted him to have a duet with Dan Seals... their voices are just great...

  • still going see don williams dot com

  • @Jhayfree Yup, he's on tour right now, sadly had to cancel two dates though, bronchitis.

  • @Jhayfree If you hurry, you may be able to catch Don Williams in concert, but Dan Seals is no longer with us. He died March 25, 2009 (aged 61).

  • This is really great to see him before his hat. I loved him back then and still today. I love singing his songs. This is country folks. I don't even listen to the radio anymore. People who say they sing country on the radio is just wrong. It is pure junk. If I had a chance, I am still young enough to sing and write songs in the Don Williams style, thanks To Don. I know what country is, It's Don Williams, Merle Haggard, George Strait, and Ernie Taylor finally country has come to a stop.

  • i just love this song if only

  • Takes me back to the 70s, went to see him at the Coventry (UK) Theatre and bumped into him in the bombed-out cathedral, a friendly chat, what a gentleman. Also went to see him at the Liverpool concert some years later.

  • Does anyone know in which year this performance was filmed? The announcer refers to Don as a young man so I wondered about the year.

    Thanks

  • Elp35: The year was 1973.

  • don williams or alan jackson? not thats a hard one!!

  • ele e um dos melhores cantores country dos USA

  • Brilliant! You just cant top this song! My fav classic!

  • i remember my dad singing dons songs to me as a small child when i thought my dad was god, still love the songs today

  • sweet song, i like it very much! young Don Williams reminds me a bit of young Brian Ferry, although he had more meat on his ribs. *g*

  • From what i understand Don didnt want any part of todays country music so he was basically an outsider. As you can tell DON wasnt much for Glamour and Glitz in his concerts but he always had a packed house at his concerts. Very relaxing voice to fans all over the world, I guess he is big in South America also

  • So warm, soft i love this song!

  • don is a part of country music ..... wish today's country music was the same ......... :)

  • I LOVE THIS SONG HE IS SUCH A GOOD SINGER

  • his brother Nic. Cage.

  • Is he nicholas cage ?

  • Todays so called country is a joke compared to this, we need more of the Don Williams,Vern Gosdin Types and not this crap that think they are country just because they wear a hat

  • Totally agree :)

  • Yeah, it sounds like it's soft rock or something...

  • @Mattea68 country musik ist a decent art opposite to most musik some people are glorifying for.

  • @Mattea68 AAAMEN!!! Nashville is just a joke anymore, honestly an embarassment for us Tennesseans. "Music" today comes from NYC, LA and maybe Atlanta if they are lucky. GONE are the honest musical cradles such as Memphis, Nashville, Austin and Muscle Shoals... sad sad sad. Slick packaging, here today gone tomorrow promotion and flashes in the pan. NO TALENT whatsoever.

  • @Mattea68 Don Williams is irrepressible and i agree with u.

  • @Mattea68 Don Williams is irrepressible.

  • great video - now i know he can stand by singing - but he better leave his hat on

regards from germany - and please listen to my covered songs

  • Actually it's because of his back he prefers to sit, he can't stand for too long. He's had back surgery as well.

As far as his hat, this was at the very beginning of his career and didn't even have the hat :-) He got that when he appeared in the 1974 movie W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings with Burt Reynolds.
