It's awesome how you made this *_* 1 day I made me one for school...and yeah..here in germany they are scared of rice or something I don't know they're faces were like OmO it's going to kill me... but it tased very good :)
how do you use the "gohan deseo"? i've seen it at our local japanese market and bought a jar but did not know what to do with it. could you do another tutorial utilizing this ingredient in your onigiri please?
@lolgenios I use short grain rice I buy a 15 lb bag from mitsuwa japanese supermarket for 16 dollars. Seaweed is kind of hard to explain I normally eat nori n its kinda salty very natural tasting its very good
:( I was looking at difference type of rice in a Japanese store today (in NYC) and I was just like O.O 'cause a small bag (about 5 pounds, probably less) cost like $20... I want to try and make onigiri (but I'm broke LOL) btw what kind of rice is that? PLEASE someone answer!? :D ♥
@lolgenios you can also find sticky rice in the asian section of any grocery store that you normally shop at as well. The brand you normally see is the cal rose brand with a rose on the packaging. =) As for the seaweed, guerrero is right, it is hard to explain except to say it's salty but I personally can't stand the stuff on its own. Lets just say it's an acquired taste. You either love it or you hate it.
Hey emmy i got a rice cooker for xmas and at first i failed cooking rice XD but i tried again and made great rice balls. i have a question since im going to be making these for school how long would rice balls last in a fridge like will they go bad?? (p.s they are just plain so nothing inside of them)
@spie4eva94 I think a week is the longest i would leave a rice ball mabey a week and a half considering they are just rice balls but as long as they smell fine and taste fine they should be good for as long as they look, smell, and taste fine
@Malakaiea she said in the video, that u can use for example egg etc. I also know chicken teriyaki (don't know how to write this word O.o). it's very yummi, too.:D
i just made this and i had it for lunch it was delicious thanks and yesterday i made shredded ranch chicken so im gonna try to convert leftovers to onigiri or my little sister because she likes rice alot
HAHAHAH when i tried to make it, mines were underweight cuz i was stingy with rice >.< and i added too much mayo/tuna so it was gushing out...lol then i added too much rice and it was overwight...and the tuna/mayo flavor would'nt show up lol i bet am the only one who cant do a simple onigiri ^c^

I like tuna mayo onigiri with cucumber :) I make mine with sushi rice though... Like seasoned because it tastes better. I also like tamago onigiri! I g2g make one now! Haha!
WOW, that looks both easy and delicious!! Although I'd have to add a bit of Cajun spice to it and add some garlic powder, onion powder, celery salt, and/or Tony Chachere's seasoning salt! (Cayenne pepper for the win!) It's basically tuna salad in a rice ball... I'm gonna have to try this!
This looks fun to make!!! I will DEFINATELY try to make this!! also, btw, From where I'm from we call it rice balls, but we do call it onigiri once in a while (:
@BubbleTfy - Yeah, I think it makes a difference but other people have commented that they've had luck w/other types of rice, so give it go & let me know :)
@emmymadeinjapan YES! I went and found it in the pantry. It's called: Shiso Fumi Furikake. Ingredients: Beefsteak Plant, Sugar, Salt. The bottle is fat and glass with a plastic top. I also love one that has fish bits and nori strips, OMG so yummy!
