  • AH DUDE. Totes gonna make these.

  • @emmymadeinjapan - hi, so when you finish making it, how long can i keep it in my bag?

  • can you come and make my lunch for me? :3

  • Tuna-mayo is your favorite? *-* Same here :3 ♥

  • 2:24

..and they're good for you, you know, they are not... (pause) they are not toxic like hot dogs or hamburgers or any kind of USA fast food)

...anyways I think they're good for you

  • I LOVE YOUR HAIR :D

  • It looks very delicious but I can eat just ONE for lunch just like you... i would probably eat like 20 :P

    Grettings from Chile

  • thats bigger than i thought

  • LOOKS SO YUMMY!! Im going to try it! :D

  • I use the exact same Mayo that you used in this video <3333

  • OMG i love love love that "baby" mayo!

  • It's awesome how you made this *_* 1 day I made me one for school...and yeah..here in germany they are scared of rice or something I don't know they're faces were like OmO it's going to kill me... but it tased very good :)

  • @Sora15696 echt? XD aber in meiner klasse würden die mich auch komisch angucken ._.

  • @Nainara ja .. die sind bei mir alle voll seltsam ..aber egal hauptsache es schmeckt :D

  • how do you use the "gohan deseo"? i've seen it at our local japanese market and bought a jar but did not know what to do with it. could you do another tutorial utilizing this ingredient in your onigiri please?

  • what was the song yuu played at the end? :o

  • I love onigiri

  • @lolgenios I use short grain rice I buy a 15 lb bag from mitsuwa japanese supermarket for 16 dollars. Seaweed is kind of hard to explain I normally eat nori n its kinda salty very natural tasting its very good

  • oh and how does the seaweed taste? :/

  • :( I was looking at difference type of rice in a Japanese store today (in NYC) and I was just like O.O 'cause a small bag (about 5 pounds, probably less) cost like $20... I want to try and make onigiri (but I'm broke LOL) btw what kind of rice is that? PLEASE someone answer!? :D ♥

  • @lolgenios you can also find sticky rice in the asian section of any grocery store that you normally shop at as well. The brand you normally see is the cal rose brand with a rose on the packaging. =) As for the seaweed, guerrero is right, it is hard to explain except to say it's salty but I personally can't stand the stuff on its own. Lets just say it's an acquired taste. You either love it or you hate it.

  • hi, How much salt do i have to put in?

  • Hey emmy i got a rice cooker for xmas and at first i failed cooking rice XD but i tried again and made great rice balls. i have a question since im going to be making these for school how long would rice balls last in a fridge like will they go bad?? (p.s they are just plain so nothing inside of them)

  • @spie4eva94 I think a week is the longest i would leave a rice ball mabey a week and a half considering they are just rice balls but as long as they smell fine and taste fine they should be good for as long as they look, smell, and taste fine

  • @Malakaiea cool thankyou im making riceballs on a sunday and eating them through the week so this helps thanks :D

  • I am going to make this today for lunch! I am soo excited!

  • Hello Emmy,

I really want to make one,

I am not a fan of tuna, could I use cooked salmon?

    Thanks!

  • @craftygal1234 You can use anything you want as a filling really.

  • I'm going to make right now lol

  • what other fillings are there for it? or any fillings probably?

  • @Malakaiea she said in the video, that u can use for example egg etc. I also know chicken teriyaki (don't know how to write this word O.o). it's very yummi, too.:D

  • I learn so many Japanese words watching your videos! Keep up the good work Emmy (:

  • I like the Purukkoki and Kimchee ones :)

  • i just made this and i had it for lunch it was delicious thanks and yesterday i made shredded ranch chicken so im gonna try to convert leftovers to onigiri or my little sister because she likes rice alot

  • could u use fried rice instead of boiled

  • HAHAHAH when i tried to make it, mines were underweight cuz i was stingy with rice >.< and i added too much mayo/tuna so it was gushing out...lol then i added too much rice and it was overwight...and the tuna/mayo flavor would'nt show up lol i bet am the only one who cant do a simple onigiri ^c^

  • hmm looks yummy! I want to try it.

  • Hi Emmy~ Do you know what else I could use other than tuna? Tuna and I don't really get along ;(

  • @TubeyDude123 im not emmy, but you could use chicken, otherfish, cooked beef anything really :D

  • @FreyaTheNerdyNinja Ohh okayy!! It goes along with chicken too? Good to know. Thank you :D

  • @TubeyDude123 i like chicken onigiri alot XD

  • Just asking here, does the rice have to be any specific kind of rice? Like glutinous or just normal rice will do?

  • Do we have to refrigerate it? because it contains mayo soo yea....would it spoil if i dont refrigerate it?

  • @Kastrero808 - If you're not going to eat it right away, it's best to keep it cool. If I take one for lunch I usually throw in an ice pack, especially if it has mayo.

  • @emmymadeinjapan Thank You! :D

  • ♪♫ emmy please enter me please. i hope i win!! ♪♫

  • i made it it was very good thx for showing me

  • And you don't have to worry about the filling going bad?

  • @pakak8rain - Not if you keep it relatively cool & eat it within a couple of hours.

  • sigh..... i cant wait till im 18!

  • i put steak in my onigiri. like if i had steak for dinner the night before. i shred the steak and mix with a little soysauce and its so good.

  • @Hikaguel yes they don't call it sticky rice for nothing lol

  • @emmymadeinjapan Lol, is it the REAL onigiri size? I mean, isn't it smaller?

  • @emmymadeinjapan Is it a must to use japanese or sushi rice? Could we use normal rice instead?

  • how does one store premade onigiri and not have it dry out. how long will it last like this? also emmy-san,could you try making some kind of steam bun as a how to? i wanna try to make lots of different types of asian food. i could ask cookingwithdog. but i thought you might find it a bit fun to try something new as well. :)

  • No offense but I think you should have removed your ring? Or maybe you just forgot to remove it? Well putting that aside I love your tutorial :D

  • emmy, my grandma told me if you add lime and mayo to tuna it'll taste much better than mayonaise alone just putting it out there :P

  • i tried making this and wet my ahnds and it would not stick am i doing something wrong?

  • @lorenzooziah - Maybe it was the type of rice you were using? Was it Japanese rice or sushi rice?

  • Mmmmm.... This looks really good! I can't wait to try it! :DDD

  • Do you use sticky rice?

  • that was awesome...thanks...

  • Should it be short grain rice?

  • I like tuna mayo onigiri with cucumber :) I make mine with sushi rice though... Like seasoned because it tastes better. I also like tamago onigiri! I g2g make one now! Haha!

  • WOW, that looks both easy and delicious!! Although I'd have to add a bit of Cajun spice to it and add some garlic powder, onion powder, celery salt, and/or Tony Chachere's seasoning salt! (Cayenne pepper for the win!) It's basically tuna salad in a rice ball... I'm gonna have to try this!

  • Emmy I'll make you a video response of me making this!

  • @IyaSophia123 - Cool!

  • Mmm just made this it tastes great!

  • Hey Emmy what kind of rice do I use?? xo

  • This looks fun to make!!! I will DEFINATELY try to make this!! also, btw, From where I'm from we call it rice balls, but we do call it onigiri once in a while (:

  • thats all your having for lunch?

  • i will go to my work .!! stop saying something !!! just make it

  • does the rice have to be sticky? like sushi rice?

  • @BubbleTfy - Yeah, I think it makes a difference but other people have commented that they've had luck w/other types of rice, so give it go & let me know :)

  • @emmymadeinjapan I used sushi rice ,lucky I've found it~~ I made onigiri just like yours and I love it!

  • @BubbleTfy - Yay! glad you tried it & liked it!

  • @emmymadeinjapan does salt and water make the rice not stick to your hands????

  • @peaceonearth598 Salt makes it taste good, and rice won't stick to your hands if they're wet. Just one of those things. :D

  • I have this stuff I shake on my rice, my fave is sweet/salty and it's purple flower petals. I will have to find the name.

  • @Tigerlilly0777 - Sounds like a type of furikake ふりかけ - delicious!

  • @emmymadeinjapan YES! I went and found it in the pantry. It's called: Shiso Fumi Furikake. Ingredients: Beefsteak Plant, Sugar, Salt. The bottle is fat and glass with a plastic top. I also love one that has fish bits and nori strips, OMG so yummy!

  • thx for idea emmy i made that for my lunch for school earlier today but i didnt have tuna so i used mayo and chicken im 11 and my name is jeremy

  • Man, I'm too lazy to do all that...

I'd just take it all and shove it into my mouth.

  • that's all you eat for lunch?

    O_O'

  • thanks emmy...loved your lunch idea! My daughter is always looking for different lunch ideas and I will try this.

  • what's with the seaweed paste again? did you add it in the tuna?

emmy, you should make your own bento video, why not, coz you make your own lunch and we would love to see what you have for lunch!

    /

  • "So they sell molds that you can use,but I don't bother". LOL

  • how does juicystar07 relate to this

  • i made this for lunch today, its really good and came out pretty nice considering it was my very first attempt.

  • @kelseymarrieslaud21 - Yay! I'm glad you tried the recipe -welcome to the world of homemade onigiri!

  • is this sticky sushi rice or can i use any white rice?

  • I hope those hands were clean ;D

  • @crissangel4u2 - Nah, germs are cool.

  • Onigiri I love them

  • everytime I come across your videos, I have to max out my volume on my laptop. &that's still not enough. lol So I gave up.

  • @ceriseee92 - yes

  • I don't know if this is a silly question, but how early do you have to get up to make your lunch? I'm pretty lazy, and would love to have this, but not sure how much time this meal takes to prepare (rice to cook/cool properly). I don't think cooking rice the night before would be good.

  • @petitemew - You can cook it the night before, just warm it up a little in the microwave before you shape the onigiri.

  • Hey Emmy, if you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living? Why exactly did you move to Japan from the States? Just curious. P.S. Your videos are great!

  • I made an onigiri right after this video haha, but i couldnt find any seaweed, and used soy sauce instead of water :P lol.

  • 

  • I spent the whole video contemplating what hernjob could possibly be.

  • Is Japanese mayonnaise any different than American or Canadian mayo?

  • @talldudegrad12 bentou is a japanese lunch box

  • So what is a bento? Is that the same thing as onigiri?

  • Hi Emmy, we all LOVE rice balls. I bought the triangle mold..lame I know..we like salmon, tuna, seaweed inside. I go to an Japanese food market and buy the shaker bottle of rice spices for on the outside and love the nori on the outside..I cover the entire 'ball' with it..sooo yummy!!! so better than a bread sandwich. thanks for posting!!!

  • I have got to try that.you ate like the awsomest person ever

  • I love that seaweed paste thing! I like putting it into my rice stuff. Dunno how to say it in english, but in chinese it she phan. So, yeah :D

  • @krazikari11 - I just call it 'nori paste.' I love it.

  • Emmy, what do you do for a living? You're always headed to work so I'm just wondering.

  • I love all your videos .Emmy, when will you make your next video.

  • @CTtopchefjustdessert - Follow me on FB or Twitter to find out :)

  • Lemon-Pepper is good in tuna salad also. :)

  • My fav onigiri is teriyaki chicken :) My mom makes it a lot for lunch but i can't ever open it cause they always brake so my mom bought off the internet and origiri

    hello kitty case :)

  • i basically have the same lunch as you everyday you know with rice cause i go to school and bring it to lunch but my friends keep questioning me why i have it cause im korean and they're like indian, american ,etc....

  • you guys must have bad speakers o-o i can hear her just fine and its on 1 bar. then i tried max volume then BOOOM hella loud o-o.. and.. I LOVE ONIGIRI!~ ♥

  • Comment removed

  • I made it after this. it was SOO good. i just couldnt get the triangular shape or it would fall apart xD but thank you for sharing!

  • Hahaha! Dun dun dun dun!!!!

  • just one?? does that full your stomach??

  • ohhhhh they sell those stuff in Korea but it is really wrapped with seaweed and there is this cool plastic wrapping it

  • @bassya123 - Yes, indeed. We have them here too, I'll post a video about it soon...look for Onigiri Part 2.

  • OH EM GEE!!!! I FREAKIN LOVVEEEE TUNA!!!! :P

  • :3 I pack my onigiri loosely with crab

  • you should also try putting soy sauce (maybe about a tablespoon?) and a DROP of sesame oil to the tuna fish and mayo mix. really just a drop of sesame oil will do, if you put too much sesame oil, it'll taste kinda bad >.<

  • I think the volume is fine. :o Great video. Think I'll try this for lunch today!

  • even though it IS the traditional way, i find making the onigiri with my hands a bit messy :x so i use plastic wrap instead! :) and haha i almost always make mine filled with tuna/mayo c:

  • you should make a whole bento on here :D
