  • I can't believe he wrote this song in 15 minutes, that's how great he was, priceless!

I wish I could go back to the 60's and I can't get enough of this song

  • This track has suddenly motivated me to go surfing in my tiny shorts while listening to this on my waterproof ipod. Its gonna be a gas.

  • The music that was being played on the radio at the end of 1966 was absolutely incredible and this song was one of the best. Other songs like this were "Talk TalK" by The Music Machine, "I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)" by The Electric Prunes and "(We Ain't Got) Nothin' Yet" by The Blues Magoos made this era in music very exciting. Of "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone by The Monkees was at the top of the charts then too.

  • I absolutely love this song.I need more music like this.

  • I first heard this in '68 when I was 8. It and "Dirty Water were on the same compilation LP (KIRL Super Hits) and those two songs changed my life. They both said to me "This is who and what I am, and if you don't like it, I'm sorry. If all you're gonna do is put me down, get out of my way and leave me be." Later I was told it was just another guy-gal relationship-at-war tune, but I'd like to think it could also be interpreted the way I originally perceived it.

  • @MrJamesrnolan What did you grow up to do?

  • @manka6 I've been a caregiver, manual laborer, and a soliciter for charities among other things.I've dabbled in art, poetry, and had a ton of letters critical of the George W. Bush administration (as well as other social injustices) published in the now-defunct Los Angeles CityBeat newspaper than I can count (and I was called a malcontent for it).Am I "free"?--well, that's a state of mind, but my life is OK so far.Sky Saxon's clarion call still resounds within me today, and I'm sure with others too.

  • wheres the url!!!! :O

  • voted #1 Garage Band of all time, and this number #1 all time Garage Band hit.

  • I always think of Air America when I hear this.

  • @ellisd243 You must be miserable, almost suicidal, when negative politics permeates every living second of your life.
