  • Aircraft engines should have been this way from the beginning. Long over due.

  • Europeen compagny? Lol, this is a french SAFRAN engine, made by Aerospatial and Renault companies, build under licence by TCM.

  • these things are a nightmare to work on

  • they bought SMA technology, we fly SMA since 4 years, our 182 already flew 1000 hours.. no cylinders broke, no gear box .. we already did 2100 tandem jumps and we love it .. hope TCM will build a 6 cylinders because we'd love to get 300+ hp

  • Lol.;..not an order of magnitude higher? What does a typical IO-360 cost? $35k? So this new diesel will be less than $350k...hmmm. I hope he meant less than double however even then, the price near $50 to $60k is not tempting.

  • i wonder could you run one of these on bio-diesel?

  • I hope the IO-470 series engines will be a target for their six-cylinder replacement. Lots of Barons, Bonanzam etc out there with these engines.

  • don't count on it lasting all that long the reason diesel's last so long is that they are heavily built this is a plane engine it cant be that heavily built because of weight concerns unless regular airplane engines really suck it wont last all that much longer still its a great idea and it i had the money id get one

  • I'd love to see this come to market. Cheaper jet a is always nice as long as the cost of the engine doesn't outweigh the benefits. And if it's like automotive desiels it should last significantly longer than an av gas engine.

  • A very good and interesting video!
