In my opinion as a Turkish Dalaras sings it better than the composer of this song, Livaneli. On the other hand, Turkish lyrics is better than Greek...Maybe I perceive it like that just because of translation. We all know that some words are pretty elusive in another languages...Anyway, I got that i can substitude turkish music with greek music. Our melodies are all same...We are sighing and aaffectiong by same melodies...not another nations sigh when they listen to these melodies...
i dont know what "san to metanasti" means. but the turkish title "your brethren wouldnt hear you, but a stranger may" has a story behind it. when livaneli (a leftist composer) had to flee the country for some years, he spent some time in greece too. that was his feeling , i guess.
to the days when all of us realise who are brothers, who are strangers! the army in cyprus isnt my brothers, the people in syntagma square are my brothers. when you get that, theres no turkish-greek conflict. peace!
In Cyprus we know ( the Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots) what it's like to be a refugee... and we won't let foolish men ruin our island again.. peace in Cyprus! Peace in the world! Axx
What a lovely scene is this. Turkish and Greek people here, talking in peace. That's why my eyes full with tear of joys. As the song says, "Your brother wouldn't hear you, but a stranger would."
Hi:) Peace:) thank you for this beautiful song, relates us to the evils of armies, in my experience the invasion of cyprus, the terrible treatment of the palestinians, the greek treatment of turkey in the 30's and then the turkish treatment of greeks in asia minor/turkey... the message is WE"VE ALL HAD ENOUGH OF WAR! Thanks for this great video:) Peace, Andreas
I'm not sure is this real. But according to an rumor which seems likely true.Livaneli wrote this song While he was banned to return Turkey and had to live on abroad because of his political view,he was in an greece island for an concert in 70s,at night he saw his motherland's lights and he said these phrase "your brothers don't hear you but foreigners do"
Does not matter :) My mistake. Ran is certainly the most favorite source of Livaneli songs. That was the reason of the misinformation...:)
Sorry but I can not reply you in Greek...I do not know any greek word (I know but some dirty an irrelevant ones)... O yeah...I loved this song..It is beatiful...
Can someone add english lyrics of this song? And about turkish and greek brotherhood; You shed blood,We shed blood, you suffered enough we suffered enough.i don"t like wars.not for brotherhood but for our children we must be friends and good neighbour.
Like an emigrant in your own land Through day and night you dress and undress the wound Everything around is strange everything petrified and day won't come dawn won't break Your life is drained of blood Every moment fear pain and cry and strangers hear you but your brother is silent Oh there is no other deeper wound Wire and more wire and thick glass the dawn is bleeding by the sun you cry and sigh and scream for freedom but hope is like a black fleeting bird...
This is not an Nazım Hikmet Ran's poem.Original lyrics and music belongs to Zülfü LİVANELİ.If you compare original lyrics and greek cover version off course They didn't match.
I know Livaneli, and I listened that piece several times. Yes the poem does not belong to Nazim. I have done a mistake, excuse me. But bec., you are so unneccessarily offensive (don't know why), I have to delete my translation now.
english is not my native neither like you.if i experessed my opinion in an rude way however i didn't meant it but i have to apologise to you.Kaba bir şekilde yazımı yazdıysam özür dilerim
"canoenay" ama kaba olmaya çalışmamıştım kusura bakma...
i think the greek lyrics are very heart touching, very real, very visual. though ive known this song from livaneli first, i prefer ntalaras version now; not for his singing style but for the lyrics of lefteri papadopoulo..
If you search this you will reach the song "Kardeşin Duymaz Eloğlu Duyar" which is the turkish version from Livaneli's voice. By the way I don't like some scense like that but I just wanted you to listen, if you want..
Thanks alpaire, I've also mentioned the composer and the title of the original version. Very nice. What does the turkish title mean? (The Greek one means "Like immigrant").
I tried to translate the turkish lyrics into greek for you with the help of dictionary. I decided in greek language because our language mentalities are very similar. I think you understood what I mean. I think it is a bad translation but I hope you can understand what the song explains..
Great job, alpaire, thank you very much. There may be a few mistakes in the translation, but they only add charm to it. ;) The lyrics are wonderful, thanks again.

George Dalara honored for his efforts towards peace and human rights??? Yes yes,one of the biggest terrorist Arafat also won Nobel peace prize, didnt he? He had blood in his hands while receiving Nobel.
And Dalaras is one of the biggest fascists on the earth.Fascist is fascist, with or withous "honour".
1) Theodorakis is the one who was honored. 2) Dalaras himself has been cooperating with United Nations on refugee and human rights issues. 3) I think that a video with the Greek version of a Turkish song should not be a reason for aggressive nationalistic comments.
we don't care about your opinion laralaraa !!go to hell and leave Dalaras alone!!!look at your ugliness ..and leave the superstar of Greece alone!!!and he not a fascist as you said!!!he is great GREEK!!!with wonderful contribution to human rights!!!
