I don't get the 'historical' jewish claim to the land. We can't reshuffle the population of the entire earth to the places their anscestors were born. Every person on the planet is descended from a conquering tribe or a conquered tribe, so what if the jews ended up being conquered? The cherokee don't get to drive around louisiana in tanks shooting the descendents of american settlers.

Its worse than that. Ancient Jews did not come from Israel at all. Although they lived in the West Bank, other peoples built the walls of Jerusalem, then the Jews killed them and took over. The twelve tribes of Israel only existed less than 100 years. On that basis of that flimsy claim, they have created Israel by ethnically cleansing areas where Jews never lived.

Very true. The torah is full of tales of the jews going forth and cutting off the heads of various people in the name of their lord, but, back to my original point, it doesn't matter who conquered who thousands of years ago, there will never be peace ANYWHERE if people choose to go on fighting the wars of their anscestors.
