Aretha, pay attention. Listen to Andrea Bocelli sing this song. Maybe you just might learn something. Maybe you might learn how to sing this beautiful song without destroying it.
@joel80blu Aretha Franklin is growing older, and the human voice, no matter how naturally great and/or well-trained, as with other bodily organs, may deteriorate with age.
And, unlike the playing of an inanimate musical instrument, the human voice will not improve with age, after a point.
@joel80blu Franklin had also, allegedly, just begun to recover from a serious illness at the point of this performance. I'm still not certain she does not have a serious illness. Weight loss is not always a sign of improved health.
Franklin was obese and smoked for decades. That cannot, among other things, have helped her singing voice.
But Aretha's singing voice, on even a bad day, many would be glad to have.
You're correct, though, Aretha has sung better than in this clip.
Back ups: L-R Brenda White-King, Fonzi Thornton, Tawatha Agee, Cindy Mizelle - all used to sing and tour with Luther - so nice to hear their voices too - thanks for posting
