GSN rebroadcast this 1960 episode in March 2009. It featured
Eddy, still looking very romantic
and a game involving the owner of a pickle packing plant. Audiences usually find pickles funny for various Freudian reasons. This game, however, spun out of control. The panel drifted out to sea; Bennett got visibly upset with John's obtuseness; some of the questions nauseated John. I find this episode funny even now, but I bet the director nearly pushed the censor button on it.
Delightful to see Nelson on What's My Line. Got quite a chuckle over the "Kookie" imitation (a la 77 Sunset Strip's Ed Byrnes--a popular show at the time). Nelson had a grand sense of humor as well as a magnificent voice. Thanks for this clip!
Wouldn't you know that the absolutely angel Arlene Frances would inquire "if you are a singer, you may be harming your voice." God bless her. It was heartbreaking she died in such misery or Alzheimer's disease. A saint.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video, I gave you 5 stars! Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald are my all-time favorites. What passes for "talent" today is pure garbage! No class, no talent, and I will keep listening to "GREAT" music such as Nelson Eddy's!
Hi, I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1930's movie star cards. They include: Nelson Eddy , Gary Cooper, Clark Gable, Jean Harlow, Maurice Chevalier, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford ....

A wonderfull talent; with a sense of perfect pitch. The beatles should have taken singing lessons from a man like him! Eat your heart out McCartney!

I love the way Bennett put that question. Isn't Nelson just the sweetest thing?
