@RayhaRolaNahya The paper is filter paper here (coffee filters will work in a pinch). The marks are made around a quarter placed at the center. A hole was poked in the center and a filter paper wick was made of rolled up paper. Then it was set over a dish of water to let the water soak up the wick and then it will cause water-soluble inks to separate. This video was sped up.
Other inks can be separated with water some instead need a different solvent. I have other videos showing this.
