I'm thinking maybe the airway, voicing hole is a little big. With it being a bit too big, it always forces the sound holes to be bigger. too many holes losing surface area can make you lose some sound too. At least that's what I've been reading :) I myself don't really have experience in this as I opted away from the popsicle stick and went with a 1/4", thin metal strip.
I honestly don't think it looks like the holes are too big for the size ocarina but...I'm still new too :) Youre gettin there!
Looks pretty cool. Until recently I've been using some wood I got at a hobby store that I sanded down. Now I'm using a piece of bamboo that I carved and sanded down to the correct thickness and shape. I can't recommend it enough as it deals with the moisture better.
why don't you call this your "bash your own work" video. it's a great ocarina. so stop crapping on your own work.
