I think it's treading a pretty thin line when you're suggesting that there is incest in a family in order to get laughs, but they have the right to do it.

I think the main reason people don't care about that is because they don't like Saddam Hussein, or the Devil. Now when South Park makes fun of Jesus, a lot of people get upset! Bottom line is, "comedy" always has the potential to be funny to some while seeming offensive to others. Each side of the debate has a right to voice their opinion and that is the beauty of "Freedom of Speech". Personally, while I "get" this skit, I will admit that at times, SNL and other comedy shows can be overly crude.

Are people really so clueless about comedy that they don't realize the whole point of this sketch was to make fun of the *media* for spreading scurrilous rumors about Palin's family without evidence? (as some papers did when they printed internet rumors about Trig really being Bristol's daughter rather than Sarah's) The writers couldn't really have been more obvious if they tried, the reporters were shown completely making stuff up and then running it because it hadn't been "disproven".
