  • im working up at the brents & it gets bad up there too.

  • omg.....

  • Thumbs up if you think some big wave was going to hit the ship.

  • good footage

  • ave

please stop to confuse meter and foot !!!

    trimar

  • @akiddlydivy2 15 metres = 49.21 feet

  • @akiddlydivy2 you fail, 45 feet

"m" stands for meters, 3 feet are in a meter...

  • @akiddlydivy2

For stone age US 50 feet! Get with the rest of the world man.

  • @akiddlydivy2 lol take your feet and place it on a meter and make the math

  • @akiddlydivy2

    750m=2460f & 20m=65f

NWA is the worst place on earth at wintertime...

  • @akiddlydivy2 Dang yard system:)

    750 meters is a total of 820.209975

  • @akiddlydivy2 2,460.63 feet (750 metres)

  • @akiddlydivy2 oh about 1500 cm!

  • @akiddlydivy2 Two meters is about 6.5 feet. 10 meters is aprox 33ft :)

  • @akiddlydivy2 Didn't see 29.5m, that's 97 feet. :)

  • @akiddlydivy2 43 feet

  • @akiddlydivy2 about 40-45. A meter is almost a yard, which is 3 feet.

  • @jlylep1 Actually a meter is 39 inches.

  • @akiddlydivy2 about 45-50 feet....

  • @akiddlydivy2

    45ft

  • @akiddlydivy2 15 meters = 49.21 feet

    Got a brain? Use it.

  • @akiddlydivy2 1 meter is approx. 3 feet

  • LOl ... this is not even 5 m swell..

  • 20 metres wave??from where do you count?

  • I want to get a job working in these conditions! please !!

  • did you die?

  • just be careful of u-boats at times like this

  • OK general

    LMfao!!!!!!!

  • hahahahahahhhhhh

  • i work on the grand banks...seen this many times befor, and its only 15 m swell, big difference then chop!

  • 30 knots?! that was our normal wind speed out there :O

Only one time have the "West Navigator" headed to the shore , and that was when they had to fix the ship after a storm 10 times worse then this! 30m waves !!!! hurricane windspeeds...no mercy !

  • well, it seems the "normal" there is different with the "normal" i've experienced :D

no matter, like i said, i'm not a sailor..

for a sailor, maybe conditions like those were normal, since they're trained to survive against those conditions :)

  • @janfosen ahaa i am an ex trawler mate/engineer,and i loved bad wheather, pumps the adrenalin through me,i have seen and been in enormouse seas of iceland, during the cod war,we lost,i am 60 now and i sit in my chair,as though i am steering the ships,so i pretend i am not retired, sad i no,but passes the time.

  • nice video, and yes its a lot of fun to ride big waves especialy in a small boat, if one can forget the danger, respect for the Sea.

  • does anyone else think it looks kinda fun...not the hehe fun but the ow crap, heart attack, Adrenalin pumping fun

  • Ugh,I've been in 15m seas only one time, and it was awful. Your boat seems to be riding very well. My tanker was a nightmare ride.

  • is this north sea?

the highest wave i've ever experienced was at south china sea (Chevron thailand oil field), approx 10m high (4 barge level, it even reach the helideck and broke 2 anchor wires)..

but this here on the video of yours..

    seems more horrible than that..

  • Its further North, at an area called " Norske havet" , Open water straight from the Atlantic ocean. Highest wave recorded that day was 29,5m high and destroyed the moonpool on the rig. 4 months with repairs

  • @janfosen MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN! What I look like I'm STUPID? That wasn't a moon pool....the rig isn't on the MOON, it's in the ocean. DUH. If I was big enough, I'd throw it on the GROUND.

  • @kenfo0 It sure does sound like you are :P

We flew past the moon that day :D

  • @janfosen you didn't get the reference and chose to be a jerkoff. how special. oh wait, i'll put a smiley face on, that makes whatever I say ok. wait for it.....WAIT FOR IIIIIIT...... ;)

  • @saragesi i have sailed similar conditions judging by the looks of the waves you may have a 15 meter at times where most of them will be around 7 meters ,as long as there is enough distance in between them life is ok ,with very high winds they may become much more steep and than you learn foreign languages very fast

  • At 0:25 -> 0:27 it's like, " where did the rig go! in fact, where did half the sky go ! " The Seas and Oceans are amazing and have to be respected !! They didn't appear small to me !! Grat's for posting and respect for working in that environment !!

  • Finally someone who understands the scale of these types of waves :)

The drilling tower is about 70m high ...

  • Hi @janfosen I have always been interested in Nature's powers - the Sea and Oceans being such a vast and open " playing Field " for Her eh !. :-)) I have enjoyed many of the vid's on the power of waves, an exceptional one is " nightmare in broad daylight !! caught in an cyclone. amazing pitch and roll ! Respect to all who work in such situations.

  • Its good to respect the forces of natures, cause if you dont. They will kill you ! :/

    Take care :)

  • But those waves look humongous... I wonder how these waves get generated, they don't really look like typical wind-driven waves due to their long wavelength. Currents?

  • The Atlantic ocean is pretty deep. When there is a storm / Hurricane that last for more then 2 days, its starts a massive water movement . When it reaches shallower grounds the water gets pushed upwards, at this area in the movie its about 800m deep.

If it had been in the North sea area the waves whould be mush shorter and steper ;)

  • my tinny can smoke that shit

  • these waves are smaller than i had with a tanker

  • Really? And how BIG was this tanker? 200 000BT ?

  • for a supply vessel she moves very calm in such a bad weather.

  • Yes , she very smooth in any kind of weather ;)

  • holy cow! giant waves.. scary

  • I'm not a fisher man :) But sill, thank for the supporting :)

  • k i sprint canu and iv been in som BADASS waves BUT HOLY SHIT THESE 1ns ar F****** TANK

  • I'm more familiiar with the water than nearly any man my age

i was born and raised in a home where a the backdeck and with a good stream of piss could land you in the ocean at high tide

    this is absolutely terrifying

those are some of the biggest waves i've ever seen (the begginning of the video shows a breaking wave in between the two vessels that's the the size of a building)

being out there in water like that is rolling the dice

i dont care what kind of vessel you are in

  • Hahaha I like that second little paragraph

  • an experienced sailor may call this an unpleasant storm by the looks of the waves, the height of the waves is not really the biggest problem ,when the wind stops the waves start rolling creating havoc for small boats, chance to capsize..,as the depth of the water decreases the waves are much more choppier mostly under 300ft ,so take your ride to deep see to discover something different

  • Jeg hater store bølger! Blir sykt redd IRL :p

  • naja nicht ganz.

  • actually 17m... if you dont belive it.

I dont care... JUST DONT COME HERE AND SAY THAT IT ISENT!!!!

  • i believe u sir :) fishermen suck ass! ;D they arew allways in the way for everybody chasing their fich! he he he... winter sucks especially in the northsea, biscay, norwegian sea...

  • So true! One time there was a trawler who just went in to the 500m zone of the rig and fished! The rig went haywire in fury, and we where ready to tow there asses off the perimter.

  • I can confirm that this is 15 m waves, I work on the drillship in the background, and this is at least 15m, I doesnt look like that but it actually is. We had 30m waves last year....

  • Your thinking of KristianSAND, not kristiandSUND which is on the "møre and Romsdal" Coast!, Check a Map for God's sake.

IT is 15m, West Navigators Wave indikator + a weather bouy can prove it . So stfu about that is not 15m. Cellphone cam + 60 degree angel out from the bow = Bad reality feeling = smaller looking waves.

  • his boat is just goin down.... -__-

  • this is not the north-sea...

Its the Norweagin Ocean. 70 miles East-South-East of Kristiansund. Espesialy know for its rough weather. GOOGLE : Storegga ...

  • This is NOT a little fishing vessel on 110 feet length!,

Its a 61m long supply vessel!

Waves looks smaller on the vid. then in Real life cause its a cellphone cam!

  • Sant nok... bølgan ser ikke stor ut på film, å det e mange tullinga som sett hjemme i stua å trur dem vet hva uvær e!

  • Ja det e det som e problemet, åså når man filme 60 graders vinkel ut fra baugen og så :P

  • ITS ENOUGH FOR MEEE

  • Very nice... would be fun to work on a boat... but here I'm stuck in an office :(

  • catching some waves?

  • west navigator in the picture.

this is the ormen lange field?

  • Yes it is :) You know it?

  • Yes I now it.

    I work onboard.;)

We had 30 m wawes last year, dammaged the ship for millions.

  • Yeah i know :) I was right next to you guys ;) Onboard your "guaridan Angel" :P Ocean Fighter ;) It was great Fun :D

And we got to stay asshore for 4 months while W.N was in for repairs in Ågotneset

  • aweome - well done!!!

  • What I'm soon going into.... xD

  • Just how does one get a job at sea...?

  • U go to school for 1 year, take a safety course, ( IMO 60 or 90) , U apply for work :)

  • I've done that:D "IMO 60)

I but what kind of VHF certificate do you need out there...:P

    I've got "ROC"

  • Depends, if your going as an officer i dont know , cause i'm a deckhand and we dont need it :)

  • ok:)

    Thnx anyways:D

But how is it to wotk out in the North sea?

its look kind a scary at the same time it looks very nice:P

  • Its FUN :D but working on oil rigs is better ;) Better pay, better on/off turn :D

  • Excuse me while I heave-to. Bleuch! I think I'd really like to experience a massive swell - the troughs and peaks! Ah, you're a lucky person.

  • dang

    big

  • Cool! This gives a good impression! thx

  • yess we can :D

  • Hehe..big waves, but Ocean fighter can handle it.
