I had an '07 Mazdaspeed 3 from the first production run and it was a fuckin' beast! True red and everyone one wanted to race me! The car is fast as hell for the money ($32,600.00, tax and p.d.i. included). Anyone talking shit has no fuckin' clue! At the time it was the world's fastest fwd production car out there...that pretty much says it all.

If you've seen any comparison tests done on normal roads (where most of us drive), there's plenty of proof right here on youtube that it handles better. As for the dirt roads, you can have them.

Mazda isn't trying to copy the STi or Evo. And their performance RWD vehicle is strictly excluded to the rotary bloodline. What Mazda has done is made something difinitively Mazda. Cars that have similar power won't have similar class, and vice versa. The Mazdaspeed3 has the market on hot hatches DOMINATED, and has done a lot for Mazda. It would ruin the Mazdaspeed3 if they converted it to RWD or AWD. It is THE FWD hatchback. End of story.

I'm not wild about the new goofy face-but if the upgrades make it a better version than the '09 is-then I'll consider it. Mazda-you need to make this hatch a AWD and give it at least 300hp, and do it for under 30 grand. That will upset a lot of WRX owners, but I do happen to like both the Speed3 and the WRX. A little competition isn't necessarily a bad thing, is it ?

the awd claims are false, sorry to say. however the new speed 3 is gonna be designed to compete with the sti's and evo's of the world with a rumored turbocharged volvo 5 cylinder engine. i was gonna get an 09 but i'm waiting for sure

mazda has stated in car and driver and in road and track that the engine will stay the same 2.3l turbocharged inline 4 but horsepower is increased by the vented hood for the top mount and also re tuning of the ecu and the new higher flow dual exhaust. also the car can compete with the sti and evos but is not in the same class as mazda intended from the start and that is why its the best sport compact as tested by car and driver "dirty speed done dirt cheap" also best sport comp. 3 yrs in a row
