  • Wow

  • CAPITAL..just absolutely GRACIOUS and AMAZING!

  • Awesome performance!!!

  • AMAZING!!

  • THEY KICKED ASS ON THIS SONG!

  • @AStevenson hats off on your comment you are 100% correct they are both Icon's and both deserve a standing ovation for there interpertation. And people all over the world have a choice to enjoy two very talented women in the music industry.

  • love them both

  • We love u too ; both Dolly and Carrie ... (";)

  • They both did very great singing this song. I was a fan of the song when Whitney Houston sang the song and I didn't know that Dolly Parton was the original singer untill yesterday when they were doing a Whitney Houston special on 20/20 last night. I think that Whitney did a little better sing the song.

  • dolly still sounds damn good

  • Carrie was nervous as you can tell by her shaken voice. Why would she tho?

  • Omg maaaan seriously comparing her to Whitney???? Dolly wins cuz with her creativity with writing this song Whitney wouldn't been soo legendary. Yeah Whitney have other hits but nothing of her own EVVEEEEEEEER CAME THIS CLOSE TO I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!!! People don't even recognize Whitney has been singing a cover song!!! but still Whitney version show vocal Dynamics but regardless it wouldn't exist if Dolly didn't exist!!!!

  • they r both great singers.

  • This is real country at it's best!!! Great performance.

  • I do so agree with you MsAlone4now, Dolly so rest in herself, love her

  • Jeanhaggard49@yahoo.comI think Dolly is a very BLESSED person with such a great gift from GOD I look up to her, cause she didn't get on the drugs most preformers do. She is the best by far. Beatiful lady, keep on singing Dolly we all love you here in TN, Thank you for building us another Fun place to go in Nashville, can't wait until it's finished. GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS DOLLY.

  • I think Dolly is a very BLESSED person with such a great gift from GOD I look up to her, cause she did't get on the drugs most preformers do. She is the best by far. Beatiful lady, keep on singing Dolly we all love you here in TN.

  • awkward?

  • Those two lovely ladies have the best legs on television.

  • Dolly is such a great person of inner and outer beauty, just love her.

  • @80sjamming

    Sorry...voted down by mistake...but I agree with that :)

  • I'm sure Dolly is thinking Carrie you're good but you're no Whitney

  • Comment removed

  • @thedivaskidd everyone know Dolly wrote and sang the song before Whitney, I'm a huge Dolly fan as well as Whitney fan, I think both Dolly's and Whitney's versions are great, you should have asked what I meant instead of ASSuming you know what I meant..... huge Dolly and Whitney fan here don't get it twisted sweety

  • @JohnFranklin2020 I understood what you meant then and I understand what you mean now. I'm just saying I don't think Dolly was sitting there wishing Carrie was Whitney. Country is country, honey. No true-blue country star would sit there wishing they were with a popstar (with chords like Whitney's that outshine the song) singing a country song. The whole "ASSuming" thing was a nice and very cute touch, but I believe it was you who got me twisted. ;) You're funny...

  • @thedivaskidd but I wasn't asking anyone what they thought Dolly was thinking, I posted a comment, you felt the need to respond so I guess you were offended by it, it is what is, I said what I said, I won't be taking it back........like i said before don't get it twisted sweety

  • @JohnFranklin2020 Oh, dear sweet baby Jesus. You are nuts! I was NOT offended. Were I offended, I would have said so. I just did not agree. I agree that Whitney's version is awesome---I've sang it numerous times. I just appreciated Dolly's version as well and really didn't think Dolly was wishing Carrie was Whitney. You have some serious issues you need to work out with yourself because OBVIOUSLY your simple mind is twisted. I'm done talking with you. I don't waste my time.

  • @thedivaskidd grow up and get a life you SKANK

  • @JohnFranklin2020 Unfortunately, for you, I don't consider setting things straight a waste of my time. I must assume you are a child, because adult conversations don't normally include name-calling or countless misunderstandings on ONE end. Whoever you are, I respect your audacity. I will NOT, however, respect your idiocy or tolerate it for much longer. When you manage to get past the fact that you are a waste of life, talk to me then.

  • @thedivaskidd stop sending messages and grow up

  • I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU is a song originally by American singer-songwriter Ms.Dolly Parton. & this is d statement she left in an interview w/ regards to d passing of d true legend Whitney Houston "Mine is only one of the millions of hearts broken over the death of Whitney Houston. I will always be grateful and in awe of the wonderful performance she did on my song and I can truly say from the bottom of my heart, 'Whitney, I will always love you.You will be missed." Source: usmagazine . com

  • I'd hit it!

  • No slam on Carrie, but she's out of her league here.

  • So well done. Dolly, I always loved your song.

  • Dolly has written so many wonderful songs and this is truly one of her best. I don't care who sings it as long as it is sung with heart. With Whitney's passing, it likely will always be associated with her and that's just fine by me and Dolly probably has no problem with that.

  • I had never noticed how pretty the guitar is in the beginning of Dolly's original

  • Kristen Chenoweth would make a FABULOUS DOLLY!

  • big shit

  • Such simplicity in the melody is what makes Dolly's version beautiful. Powerful emotion in her vocals is what makes Whitney's version just as beautiful.

  • Dolly was trying not to over power Carrie, cause we all know she could easily. Also, this will ALWAYS be Dolly's song. Not Whitney's

  • Country sings it best :) Whitney just made it her own and she sang it beautifully, may she rest it peace! But no one can top Dolly, God love her!! <3

  • @FadingToBlack05 Agreed. Dolly sang it first, but both versions were equally enjoyable IMO

  • Carrie can't really hold a candle to Dolly's performance here.

  • I think the world would be a better place if we all ask ourselves in tough situations, "What would Dolly do?"

  • Is it possible that Dolly's voice has gotten, like, even better over the years? Or is she just belting more than normal here? Either way, WOW.

  • TWO Magnificent women!!!

So much heart! So much talent!

  • Gosh, look at Dolly. She's so beautiful. She looks like an angel. And what a voice <3

  • WoW, Friggin WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they look like mother and daughter

  • THE BEST THING IV EVER SEEN AND HEARD. They are both amazing women in every single way. I will always love Dolly and Carrie <3

  • really? how could you not like this? 229 crackheads dont like this? really?

  • carrie is holding back for Dolly's good. lol.

  • Dolly has better legs

  • Carrie could belt out this song!

  • two of my favorite country singers singing one of my old time favorite song! love them both♥

  • I think Dolly was very gracious and actually sang quite a bit of background to let Carrie take some of the lead. They harmonized well together. Clearly Dolly is very confident with herself. She knows what she has accomplished in her life.

I thank God for Dolly & her ability to write & sing such lovely songs

  • "We can get you a big ol' bra.." LOL!!! Love them both!

  • Carrie has the vocal power to sing(after hearing HGTA i think thats stronger than this) and even sound as amazing as whitney :)

  • I hate the fact that so many people thing that Whitney Houston wrote this... I mean Whitney Houston is amazing singing this.. But Dolly Parton doesn't get much credit for it.

  • i feel like carrie has the voice to take this song to whitney's level of epicness. she sounded restrained here...

  • Yes - Dolly Parton wrote this not Whitney Houston

  • A heartfelt rendition by both women. Thanks for sharing your talents!

  • just appreciate the music... so beautiful

  • Over-vocalized? Ha! I sense jealousy because Dolly "blow-up doll, cilicone" Parton couldn't do it like that. And Carrie COULD NOT kill Whitney's version! You know how many people try that song? No one EVERRRR gets it right. Lmao.

  • i really respect how carrie just sang along and didnt try to out sing dolly, carrie has the potential to blow this song outta the water, but she didnt she let dolly have her song and just rlly enjoyed singing with her. if carrie were singing this by herself she would kill whitney's version. love both carrie and dolly it was a beautiful duet. and i agree if u think carrie cant sing go listen to her duet with vince gill where they sang how great thou art

  • idiots.... has nothing to do with hitting high notes.sometimes songs are over vocalized and Whitney crack head Houston's version is.

  • Whitney's version is the ABSOLUTE BEST!

  • @AStevenson91

The only "absolute" in this world is that nothing is "absolute".

  • @direfranchement Wow, I feel enlightened now. NOT. It's just a word. And for me Whitney's version is the absolute best. I like Dolly's version and I was never quick to claim such until I started reading hater comments.

  • @AStevenson91

Actually it is a word that you used carelessly and apparently without an understanding of its meaning. Be responsible for the language that you use and be aware of the meaning of what you write and say. So you prefer Whitney's version---that's fine. How futile to come onto a video of Dolly and Carrie Underwood performing the song and declare "Whitney's version is the ABSOLUTE best"!

  • @direfranchement No one uses the English language perfectly so you've some job ahead of you. Who doesn't know what absolute means? Are you even serious? I think you are crazy to get so wrapped up about a word. At this point I guess it's all a matter of opinion and for me Whitney's version is the "ABSOLUTE" best if YOU know what that means so there should've been no argument. But again, I only said it because I'm tired of ppl dissing Whitney for simply covering the song. GOODBYE.

  • @AStevenson91

Forgive me, I didn't realize that I was speaking to a child.

  • @direfranchement Oh I guess that never gets old with you either. I believe the immature one is the person jumping up and down about a word.

  • @direfranchement But as for retaliation...I guess you're right. ;-)

  • @AStevenson91

Well, since you're from my home state and you're so young, I'll cut you some slack. Nobody loves old school Whitney more than I do, but I don't see the need to pit Whitney's and Dolly's versions against one another because they're so radically different. Both are great---Whitney's is grand and anthemic. Dolly's is intimate and tender. It's like comparing Dionne and Aretha on "I Say a Little Prayer". Two very different yet equally unforgettable versions of a classic song.

  • Dolly wrote this you tell by the words its great but Houston did a good job but it will always be Dolly's song

  • 224 people think that this was originally done by Whitney Houston.

  • @tierneyheisinger2010 224 people WISH it was done by Houston. Dolly wrote it and it will always beat whitney

  • This is terrible...Neither of them hits the notes, are you def?

  • @ladyfender r u kidding me??? this is how the ORIGINAL is, the way dolly wrote it. not the way friggin whitney houston sings it.

  • @bflandragon90: I know this is the original and I know Dolly wrote the song. But this is not the point. This performance is awful, because neither Dolly nor Carrie hit the notes. That's what I said. They can do it much better ;-)

  • @ladyfender i dont think you see where im getting at. its to respect dolly because this is how it was meant to be performed, not how whitney does it. yes carrie has the vocal capabilities to sing it like whitney but she didnt out of respect for a country legend.

  • @ladyfender I know right? Since everyone else is so honest, I think this super sucks! Lol.

  • @AStevenson91 Are you crazy, both can hit the high notes and they did. Carrie has got vocal power to hit the high note and so does Dolly without a problem. I don't know what you are listening and yes, I am being perfectly honest.

  • Comment removed

  • i love it carrie so hot dolly sohot great performance dolly does it great but carrie did great job what a performance im cooling down they are both so fine wow

  • Amazing

  • Sorry but I only love it when Dolly sings it on her own!

  • I like both versions but I grew up with Dolly and love her version so much more. Dolly is not only a good singer but she has a awesome personality! She has been doing thing for how many years? And she has not lost it! She is my inspiration as a person and a singer. More person than singer cuz I am not a good singer! lol And Carrie kinda reminds me of a younger version of Dolly. She is gonna go far!

  • I dont like country music but I love how they sung this together it was amazing! gospel and country love em both

  • WHITNEY SHITTEN ON EM!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Whoevr say tht whitney better.....DOLLY FREAKIN WROTEE THE SONGG SO GO RUNN AND TELL THT TO WHITNEY

  • Comment removed

  • truley the queen of country music ..

  • Oooh, Whitney much better

  • I love dolly parton !!

  • I actually started to cry while listening to this song.

This is pure talent from both of them.

    Goosegumps!!

  • HOW COULD ANYONE DISLIKE THIS???

  • @davfrui CAUSE WHITNEY KILLIN THESE HOES!! haha

  • Ms. Dolly is so feminine yet her voice can be just as high and strong as any singer who has sung this song. The power of her singing comes from her deep emotion, not from loudness. I can listen to her any time.

  • Dolly's version will always beat out Whitney's.

  • @tregibbs If you think Carrie Underwood is an amateur, then you obviously haven't heard her sing "How Great Thou Art" with Vince Gill!! Amazing is the only word to describe it... go listen to it :)

  • @ssain1611 Thanks for the recommendation!

  • damn...close call who has better legs!

  • @theblueangel28

Carrie has better legs, Dolly has a better rack

  • While Carrie is a great singer... there will only be one Dolly...and she is fabulous

  • Two truly classy and beautiful ladies, inside and out!!

  • this was beautiful the way they sang together. Dolly had said that Carries voice is just pure talent, and as Carrie says Dolly is country music treasure. if you guys only knew who Dolly wrote this song for and why, it makes it even more special. Carrie is the best female singer hands down!!!

  • WTF is Dolly Parton doing with that amateur???? WEAK !!!!

  • @tregibbs The amateur you're referring to is Carrie Underwood undoubtedly one of the best voices in the music industry. She hasn't been around for 40 years yet but she's well on her way to becoming a legend. Do your research!

  • @SkyscrapersForgiveMC Yes - I'm aware that's Carrie Underwood. I was being sarcastic. If you think that Carrie Underwood is "undoubtedly one of the best voices in the music industry" then you need to listen to a lot more music. Her voice is weak.

  • @tregibbs carrie underwoods voice is anything but weak... youre psycho.. shes one of the top country vocalists out there.. she'll go down in history with martina mcbride and faith hill as one of the best

  • @sukisilas Carrie Underwood is a manufactured product of American Idol. She cannot hold a friggin' candle to the greats - like Dolly, Alison Krauss, Shania Twain, etc. Deal with it.

  • @tregibbs Carrie has held her own just fine. She`s no Dolly but I would say she in one of todays best.

  • @tregibbs Shania Twain? Greats? You're out of your mind. You have to do more than talk through songs to be considered a great singer.

  • @tregibbs yea alison krauss???? shania twain??? carrie can outsing them easily. i prefer her over dolly but im not saying shes better than any of them. to me, strong female country singers within the last decade are faith hill and martina mcbride. like i said i think carrie could easily be put in that category. shes a product of american idol like kelly clarkson, jennifer hudson, and katharine mcphee. nothings wrong with that.

  • @sukisilas stfu!!! you think her better then alison krauss?????? hell to the no!!

  • @tregibbs obviously you're mentally as well as acoustically challenged.Go play with your Justin Bieber doll.

  • <3

  • NO-one sounds like Dolly. She has the most amazing voice.I Love Dolly singing this song with Vince Gill .That is total pefection! They are the BEST!

  • is it bad that im 19 and would bang the crap out of Dolly

  • @Kejinification well its pretty bad that you have to say it like that

  • @Kejinification Sorry but yes that's bad. You should be ashamed of yourself. Wait until you're 20!!!!!!

  • they both did great i love both of them but vocal carrie doesnt come close to dolly the only country singer that is at dollys level is reba not trying to compare them because they are all good singers carrie this is on of the best renditions of the song i have herd

  • i cry every time i hear this cause my dad used to tell my mom that he allways loved her and he strayed away after 30 years of marrage :(

  • That is soo beautiful those to sing like angels when they are together

  • As usual, Dolly underplays it -- because she could blow away anyone else.

It's nice to have a superstar so firmly rooted in reality. Dolly can make anyone look good -- (even if they are good already, like Carrie).

  • Dolly Parton- Pure class

  • Wow they sound great TOGETHER :D two beautiful singers <3

  • I always hated Carrie, but Dolly was my girl. Until I heard her sing this. They look and sound amazing! Beautiful! :)

  • Love Love this song.....always makes me cry :'-)

  • Check out CB Kelton on You Tube

  • b.e.a.u.t.f.u.l

    :) i love them both.

  • Both versions of this song are incredible!!!Dolly is a world class singer and songwriter!!

  • LOVELY JUST LOVELY

  • I get ear-cancer

  • I still think Linda Ronstadt's is the definitive version, notwithstanding that Dolly wrote it.

  • I want to see Jackie Evancho sing this song with Dolly I believe there is no doubt in Jackie's vocals I believe Jackie is the only one that can put as much feeling into this song as Dolly and maybe linda rondstat

  • Dolly, Bring back the 70's Wigs! That wig looks like a bunch of feathers!

  • As much as I love Carrie i have to say that her voice does not suit this song and does not go well with Dolly's very unique voice.

  • oh dolly ..... too good

  • hmm...i could be wrong but, it sounds like Dolly is way more melodic in this song...her voice just resonates

  • Just wonderful......... Terry UK

  • I love both of these ladies and love Dolly's song.

This was a great tribute to each other while honoring the song.

  • goosebumps.OMG like if u watched in 2011

  • two amazing artists...Oh I LOVE Carrie... such a sweet person, and her personality has won her so much of respect from around the world...

  • Oh this brought tears to my eyes. Dolly Parton is amazing.

  • I love Carrie, but Dolly is uhmazing! It's so sad that the greats are starting to loose their voices. Like dolly, randy travis, ect.

  • Ive Seen her On Disney<3 Aunt Dolly lolzz

  • Kristin would be perfect to play Dolly :)

  • did Dolly's musical turn out to be 9 to 5 the musical?

  • things song always brings tears to my eyes. Carrie did an excellent job!
