FA Cup still mattered in those days... replays until a result, if there had been a penalty shoot-out after this, it would've devalued everything that happened in the 120 minutes.
@donnyab yes because winning 3 FA Cups, 3 League Cups, 1 Champions League, 1 UEFA Cup, 2 UEFA Super Cups & 4 Charity Shields since this game is proper shit isn't it!
not forgetting their 3 league runners-up spots & their runners-up in the Champions League & 2 times FA cup runners-up on top of those winning times aswell
Grrrr they should be so ashamed!
Maybe take a leaf outta Everton, Man City or Newcastles books & win fuck all wudda been better?
if you watch closely, grobbelar let 2 of those goals in. i'm an everton fan, but everton's 1st and 3rd goals should have been saved. keep a close eye on grob for those goals, it's pretty obvious. even everton's second looked highly dodgy on grob's behalf.
Ian Rush was such a power house! He scored more goals against us than any other team. Soul destroying watchin him play against us cause he always scored!
I remember staying up as a 10 year old to watch the highlights on the BBC. A breathless game and easily one of the defining ones of the decade. It's an historical marker for the decline of not just Liverpool as the dominant power of English football, but Everton as well who had rivaled them for much of the 80's. I seem to remember the highlights were repeated again the night after because of Dalglish's resignation, or maybe I'm imagining things.
Watching this, Barry Davies done a superb job on this game for MOTD. His timing and on the spot analysis was perfect. I will try to post it when I get the tape. All 10 minutes at least. You will agree.
Great game. Any chance of reposting a better quality video. I remember this game like it was yesterday. The bbc commentator did a better job. Being a Liverpool fan, chillingly and very aptly said on Cottee's first goal. "Not sure Cottee has had a touch yet....HE MIGHT GET ONE NOW!!!" The atmmosphere at that ground that night got to Dalglish. He said recently he froze when he knew he had to shore up the defence minutes before Everton scored there fourth goal. He quit for his own good.
You are absolutely right. I come on here occasionally hoping for the BBC extended version. I did record it on video in Ireland, I had a nice collection too. i now live in the USA. It is unless to try to get the family to find the video clip and post it over. Lazy wankers!

worst match ever because after this the liverpool/everton domination that had lasted a good 30 years finally died

at least it is better than nothing, it appears to be the only dedicated clip on You Tube to one of the best games ever.
