  • this is truly some of the best guitar playing i have ever seen

  • wow!!! is the first guitarist playing the walking bassline and the melody same time??? great stuff :)

  • Niiiice!! I esp love this as I found it by searching the Harlem Globetrotters Celebrity Playlist. Wonderful!!

  • HOLA MI NOMBRE ES CINTIA QUIERO QUE VENGAN EN MI CASA SOY DE LA PLATA SEGURO QUE ME MUDO EN VILLA CARLOS PAZ MEJOR LLAMAME ASI ESTAMOS CONECTADOS SI 221 6080880 221 6081179 MI PAPA ES FANATICO DE USTEDES A HORA YO SOY FANASTICA DE USTEDES PUEDEN VENIR

  • I never even heard of these cats.........and I ain't never heard anything like this.....un freegin believable.....I'm sick....don't imagine there would be too many guys who would even get on a stage with these boys.....

  • @MrWeedpatch ... it's really sad ... Scotty came thru Dallas bout 8 yrs ago at Dallas Guitar Show ... couldn't even get a place on friggin stage ... was either pushing his own CD from a booth ... maybe it was a string endorsement ... however ... here's this guy ripping metal off the walls and then there's a bunch of blues (lots n lots of overdrive) trying to impress with how loud their amps were ... yikes ... we haven't see Scotty back here .... sure do wish we could ... Chet was a big fan

  • rasists rednecks dream live! ;-)

  • удивительными

  • зачОт

  • What I like about this is that he doesn't need to play fast all the time, and when he does, he doesn't loose the relaxed feeling that I think this song really deserves. I don't don't like it when this song sounds rushed because players sacrifice musicality for speed. Amazing musicality!!!

  • Does he tour outside of Ohio?

  • Great,..Excellent!!!

  • Bob Saxton is a great player & tremendous picker himself but I get a big kick watching his reaction to some of the licks Scotty's pulling off. This would be a great chapter in one of those Visa commercials & might go something like this ; "Youtube's admission price to see Scotty Anderson & Bob Saxton - $0.....Watching Bob's reaction to Scotty's licks.............Priceless !!!

  • こんにちは すばらしい演奏です! こんなに音を出して貰えるGUITAR&アンプは幸せなんでしょうね~^^ 聴いている私も幸せになります。

  • he uses a thumbpick right?

  • I love Bob Saxton in this video, just the look on his face when Scotty's playing... Priceless. And pretty good himself.

  • Hi Scotty, this is your cousin I haven't seen you since we were teenagers, I knew that you played guitar, but wow you just blew me and my boyfriend away, we were looking at guitar pickers here on youtube and I kept looking at you and I said I know that guy, he is my cousin. he ran across you back in the early 90's in Nashville, he is a picker also. I just had to write this note I am proud of you. I am your uncle Clyde's oldest daughter.

  • Oh my God. How did I not know about this guy??

  • That was absolutely unreal. Wow!

  • scotty you are the best

  • thanks!

    good music!

    goooooooood play!

  • What I find unique is his ability to play a solo in harmony with itself utilizing the technique he's seemed to master thats like using two picks esp. those double stops. The harmony sounds convincing as apposed to it sounding like the whole sound at once. I like his comping to its pretty interesting and jazzy!

  • Sweet - thanks Arlen.

  • Which metal guitarists? There aren't too many metal guitarists who have a left and right hand as strong as the player in the video.

  • He is a good guitar player but is this really rare? Metal guitarists play things this complicated and even more so all the time..

  • Almost all the metal player can´t play over the changes, and haven´t the harmonic and melodic approach that Scotty has.I think you mean about the speed, but you must think that metal players plays straight scales very often. These are a very different styles that has different techniques and resources to being compared. Also, Scotty has a very unique double-stops approach.

Of course, there are many exceptions.I´m not talking about ALL the metal players.

It´s my opinion, not neccesary the truth.

  • @starqz yeah right, name me 5 metal guitarists that can play the melody, chords and bassline all at the same time at this level of complexity

  • @starqz I Don't think you fully realize what you're listen to here. I would guess you're not a guitarist, because pretty much every guitarist who hears this guy -- whether they like the genre or not -- realize they are listening to a world-class guitarist. As to being "complicated", one can easily play complicated dreck. That doesn't make you a virtuosolike this guy clearly is.

  • @starqz You have a great future in stand-up comedy!

  • @starqz No sir ......no they do not....

  • amazing specially that lick or whatever you wanna call it after the dissonant at about 6:32 to 6 :37.

  • That was great, i've never heard of this guy. Thank you internet :D

  • I'm considering taking lessons from Scotty. I have no interest in his style of music (I'm 14), but he's so amazingly good, I think it would be a waste not to learn from him.

  • @MICKGROHL Lucky you, getting to take lessons from Scotty. wow!

  • I wonder how many hours day this fellow practices? He just totally blows me away. The walking bass lines alone. The double and triple stops. the hole nine yards. Just unbelieveable.

  • I wonder how many hours day this fellow practices? He just totally blows me away.

  • I wonder how many hours day this fellow practrices? He just totally blows me away.

  • Ain't it great just to watch someone this dam good play.Good picking

  • Now that was some mighty fine axe licking.

  • Also see Odell Martin from way back :}

  • *Burns guitar*

  • howdy!

  • i loe this song!!

and scotty is scarin the shit out of me! but its a huge motivation to go on lerning my instrument!

  • breathtaking

  • I love this , running bass and the timing of Bob is pure excellence...... if you're new to this pass on the vibes x

  • Practice Kids!!!!

  • Sorry but I think mister Anderson is a mike hog,,,Let Bob play a little bit You don't have to play a tousands notes to impress people... Bob I would not let him get away with that...Your friend ...Bill

  • @KyThumb

Funny you say that....watch his face around 3:00 when Scotty takes another turn.....haha. I think Bob was getting antsy.

I could listen to both of these guys all day long.

  • i think the old man wants to shit his pants lol.

  • Scotty is guitaromatic...I wish I knew as much guitar as old Bob Saxton has forgotten. That would help my game.

  • Les Paul was much better than Chet Atkins could have ever thought about being... Chet's not even in the same planet with Les Paul.

  • @lespaulsoundwave your dumb les even says chets the greatest, theyre both great but chet is the greatest

  • incredible video

  • Fantastic guitar playing. I wish Scotty would put out some concerts on DVD. One one the best players out there.

  • guy in the back is yawning -lol

  • Insane playing.

  • Excellent!!! ))))))))

  • Why doesn't Scotty record this in a studio?

  • Scotty is by far technically better than any guitar player alive today. He is a player's player.

You can't even compare him to anyone because there is nobody in his league.

  • how can someone be that good - unreal

  • Chet Atkins, Django, George Benson are extraordinary. Scotty makes "extraordinary" an understatement.

This guy is from outer space!

  • that floored me !!!! I am gonna go play my guitar till it hurts... awesome playing....

  • Brilliant

  • The guy on the tele is universe class.

  • IMO, there are but a few musicians-guitarists who play on Scotty's level. Each time I watch him I am at a loss to describe in words the quality of his playing. I understand there are about 5 million guitar players in the US, give or take. In this group I truly wonder if there are even 4 or possibly 5 guitarists who play on his level.

  • @1954tele

In this genre there are almost none, Brent Mason possibly.

  • @SevenCircles Brent Mason is a fucking beast! also Doyle Dykes, and of course, my personal favorite, Tommy Emmanuel.

  • I feel is though i should put my guitar down and take up knitting or something after seeing this video. This scotty is the man; chet atkins to a whole new level!!!

  • I've said it before...Scotty Anderson is an alien.

No human can play like that..

  • Him and Danny Gatton must be from the same planet.

  • The lick at 2:45 tickles me!

  • fantastico guitarrista

  • Great performance! :) 5* and best regards,

    Lilly

  • There can never be enough of this stuff! Thank you for the posting(s) and sending Christmas wishes to you from South Florida!

  • amazing

    i'm agog.

  • Thank you for sharing, Pablo! You're my sonic Santa!

  • I just stumbled upon these two great artists. I wouldn't doubt that Scotty could rip out some prog metal riffs if you gave him an Ibanez RG plugged into a high gain amp.

  • But that would be stupid and counter productive to creating good music.... so it will never happen.

  • Scotty's probably the best all-around guitarist on the planet. Let's not kid ourselves. But having said that, I enjoyed Bob's solo way more.

  • Comment removed

  • whenever i want to get inspired , i play this video...

  • fantastic!!!!

  • There really is no words to describe Scotty's playing. Its so over the top but so easy to listen too. His style and technique are flawless. I can't think of any player in any genre that can come close to his playing ability.

  • Wow! didScotty ever play the arse off that lady!!! He don`t play pedal steel as well does he?? :)

  • Scotty is undoubtedly unbelivable.. BUT!! Let's not forget Saxton for not only keeping up with Scotty, but delivering some DAMN tasty licks too... it's like Chet never left...

  • ya gotta be kidding me. may as well trash all my guitars.

  • This is UNBELIEVABLE! Anderson has the fastest double-stops I've ever heard in my life. He just may be from another world. ;-) kitloose, I'm right behind you. Got the matches in my hand...I guess there's always a need for more firewood. (LOL)

  • when i grow up......

  • Brilliant!

Imagine doing those opening 32-bars, when called upon to do an intro in a swing situation...

Mr Anderson is an alien... ;-)

  • He seems to have mastered a different spin on the typical boom chucka playing style. His double stop harmony lines are special!

  • How do I get in touch with Bob Saxton? He and I played in Alaska in 1953 and 4. John

  • i dont want to play guitar anymore....

  • tabs... hahahah

  • You could watch just Scotty's pinkie and be blown away... in fact check out how well he uses that fourth digit... burning my guitar now.

  • .....God...........of guitar

  • This is absolutely amazing. I need to practice my guitar.

  • ha ha - ya, I'll bet this guy practices more than me!

  • holy crap

  • WOW!! Man, that brought a huge smile to my face.

  • This cat is suuuuuuuuper! What a talent. I wish he'd do guitar clinics.

  • I never heard this tune with many performance......bravo TO Scotty and Bob

  • shane, check out some old jerry reed or brian setzer stuff.

  • Awesome playing! Is that the song that the Harlem Globetrotters use? lol

  • YIKES! This guy probably wears out two or three guitars a week.

  • It's his harmony double-stop runs that blow me away. Don't know of anyone else who can do that.

  • Check out Danny Gatton. He's got some kick ass double stops as well.

  • waaaatchaaaaa !!

    arrf yurp in-kre-di-beul

  • wow i only found Scotty this morning but I'm really loving what I'm hearing

i've never heard anyone solo like him, Martin Taylor doesn't have a patch on him

  • What kind of guitar and amp does Bob use? the sound is super clean!!

    Dave in Indy

  • I'm always amazed that people try to compare one guitar player to another..... Scotty Anderson is definitely a great guitar player.... but so is Bob Saxton.... to me, they sound nothing like Chet Atkins... but they're still carrying the torch from that era.... when musicians could actually play their instruments.

  • If Bireli Lagrene and Albert Lee had a baby it would be Scotty Anderson

  • great 5*

  • Bravo!!!

  • With all due respect, Chet never played like this!

  • You obviously havent listened to chet. Scotty gets over half of his rifs from chet .

  • I respectfully disagree. Firstly, Scotty Anderson improvises most of his playing, and is one of a very select group of guitarists who knows his instrument so well that he doesn't rely on riffs so much as he plays whatever he feels or hears in his head.

  • Of course, I'm not Scotty Anderson, and this is just my opinion, but I really think that his technical ability and creative ability is far greater than Chet Atkins' ever was. Not taking anything away from Chet Atkins, an amazing and incredibly influential player. All the best :)

  • I've played in Nashville for over 45 years and have listened to Chet all of my life. Scotty is a great player, but you have to look at the whole picture (i.e., who is more versatile). There is a place in music for all players, but Chet played all genres and that in itself gives him the edge on Scotty. I'm sure by listening to Scotty he studied Chet's thumb picking style a lot.

  • true statement...this is on the fly....it is obvious he could play for hours and not repeat himself!!!

  • @JohnnyGoo While what you say is true, every player, regardless of genre, has an inventory of licks, runs, and ideas that they use when they improvise. An average player may have a shelf or 2, or 3, better players have more...but a great player has a huge warehouse to draw upon, along with the chops to pull it off.

  • @JohnnyGoo god hes just mindblowin, i hardly think there are more than 10 guitarists that can actually do that and not screw things up, i mean hes probably singin all of that on his head instead of thinkin what licks to play

  • freemind321

It is true that he was inspired by

    Chet Adkins, Roy Clark, etc

But he was also influenced by many other non-Nashville guitarist.

It is not like he took lessons from them,

He simply just grabbed the good things he heard from them and other guitarist.

Thus his musical greatness, who has a lick vocab like this guy, he is the best at this, that is Bob Saxton he is schooling there,

Let Scotty have it without having to share with Chet!

  • Like I said, there is room for all players. I know Bob and he is a great player, too. His brother was also a very good player.

  • Of course, he is

    I agree

  • I've had the pleasure to play with Bob a few times, and I have heard him do his solo act. He is very good. By the way, I hear he has been sick, and I don't know his status now. I have never met Scotty but he is an awsome player.

  • I heard he was fine and his brother was sick?

Do not get me wrong , I have stole a few things from Mr. Saxton, and I do consider him one of the greats.

  • Did anyone notice scotty's pick-ups ?

  • Looks like a small Gibson Humbucker on the neck and a single coil of some sort on the bridge. Pretty standard setup, and the guitar sounds great.

  • Now that's some country swing!

  • lol. not exactly chester

  • Think I'll burn all my stuff too, thanks for the inspiration for spontaneous combustion. JESUS, Scotty you rule!!!

  • Whatever planet they're from....I'm going there to get some lessons.

  • are they from this planet.

  • scotty goes deeper and deeper into the melody with this one. absolutely staggering.

  • bobs face says it all. holy smoke this fucking guy can play anything. can i sit in front please to really enjoy this. someone help me .

  • I'm burning all my guitars and breaking all the amps.

  • I'm in line right behind you.

  • Me three... My god..

  • Jango must be swinging'with this video out of his grave! great performance!

  • hey Johnatbfun...have you heard the Andy Leftwich version of Django's "Minor Swing"?

  • ANY GUYS UP?

    i liked this video :) A8

  • great vid

seen it yesterday! lets chat 49

  • Scotty plays guitar as smooth as the Harlem Globetrotters play basketball!!! F***kin love watching these guys.

    Phil

  • ....well...speechless..

    I want him+Lagrene on stage!

    W-O-W

  • wow! that is what it's all about. bob did an outstanding job because who the hell would want to follow scotty. great job by both men..

  • Fabulous!!!! From a Danny Gatton fan!

  • The more I watch this video, the more I think Mr. Anderson is a genetic experiment -- an immaculately conceived hybrid of Lenny Breau and Merle Travis who was tutored by Ted Greene before serving a term as Danny Gatton's Padawan. It's as if he were the fretboard equivalent of Annakin Skywalker, minus the self-destructive rage.

I would LOVE to see him blow some duets with Tommy Emmanuel. Then again, the spectacle might well make me suicidal.

  • kirok, for sheer acoustic finger picking Doyle Dykes and Jerry Reid are better than Emanuel. Technically perfect and super quick is Scotty Anderson. He might be the best ever along with piano 7 string virtuoso Lenny Breau BUT for the most awesome improvised soloing ever hands down Danny Gatton. I will put out audio and video samples to showcase all the great guitar players. I have a po box. It just takes a little time to get masters made and burn many copies. mastercollector/gattonmaster

  • Oh no they are not! What planet are U living on?

  • alisterhrae if you are talking to me saying Gatton, Breau, and S. Anderson are not the best ever your wrong. It's no longer Henrix, Beck and SRV; its Gatton, Breau, and Scotty Anderson. I have the proof with the best audio and video guitar playing of all time bar none!!!!!

  • Very very good!!!!

  • the old man is looking at the begining like saying, OH deam you!

  • Oh. My. Dear. Lord.

I need to watch this from time to time, whenever I get the idea that I KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT HOW TO PLAY THE GUITAR.

  • wow! Absurdly good.

  • Even when he plays it "straight" he's a blur! TR

  • Nice video!

    anyone have tabs? heeh

  • Go scotty and Bob-as good as it gets in guitar playing fellas. Yowza!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • YEAHHHHHHHHH!!!

  • Hi Scotty you are always a great guitarist, I met you many year ago at the NAMM SHOW and I think Bob was with you...Félicitations at you and Bob.I try to record this tune....no comparaison but check R.maheux

  • WOW i NEED tabs, i GOTTA learn, it. Top class 5*

  • It doesn't get any better than this....

  • I really like the little Les Paul licks he throws in there.

  • Scotty's double-stop solos are insane!

  • think of the hours this guy must have practiced. I practice all the time and Im shit lol.

  • That's the problem; you shouldn't "practice". You should play.

  • Scotty is so smooth, effortless.

  • Every aspect of Scotty's playing is phenominal. Truly unbelievable.
