It was pretty interesting being there... My mom was at Season Salon downtown and the water was leaking in the door. Our basement on the eastside flooded and I was out in the street when it happened.
It looks like there must be a mountain off camera to the right because the low level clouds come from left to right and then stop and almost immediately it starts raining as the clouds build.
This is yet another example of active climate change. Casper hasnt had flooding like this in 40 years, a little less than a month before that, there was a tornado, a year and a month before then, on may 7th there was a tornado witch touched down at the mall. Yet two years before that, in july of 2006 it got to 104 degrees farenheit. So you people who think and say there is no climate change are complete morons and need to hit themselves upside the head and have a reallity check done twice.
@jomosamify You are so correct, this IS what it is. I am a forecaster and have loved the weather since I was 4. Most forecasters are mesmorized by events such as these. Thank you WyomingJody for sharing this video. I was...mesmorized.
yep, its hard to belive that it happened because casper has such a high elevation, it happened in the hotest and driest month and right before independence day!
I think the mountains are doing a terrible job of blocking big supercells since it came out of the west! By the way, how much rain do you think casper got this year?
oh my god i live in casper and i remember when this happned it was so scary

Caught that lightning bolt at around1:30 in extreme left of frame, Typical for lightning to just proceed the rain shaft.

At 1:46 that bush on the right is just trying to hang on

Wow...great time lapse!...love the sudden down pour. How long did the storm last?

Nature in the raw is seldom mild.
It's amazing how quickly all these dramatic events take place. And how, within minutes, the heavy rain is gone and a blue sky is revealed.

Great capture of a microburst.
I wish we had the water here. We currently are having the thunderstorms, but little rain. It's still a drought.

So sorry to hear about your drought, we understand that here too. Time for a rain dance! Thanks for your comment canadianetropy.
