@2558533 drugs did very little to write lyrics. MGMT is naturally this trippy. Also they are not doing drugs except marijuana as of right now and that is a natural herb. Marijuana can sometimes help write lyrics because it help brings out more of you and helps you see somethings you can't see before.

Kids, Time To Pretend and Electric Feel are just the singles from Oracular Spectacular. If you listen to the second half of the album, there are some pretty cool stuff, kind of like the second album.

As far as the Beatles, it was a different time, they weren't trying to make deep stuff early own, because it was just about making hits and more hits.
