I'm using your method... but since I don't have a maxed crystarium, I had to change it a bit... If anyone finds it useful I'll post the changes here.
I have a Syn/Syn/Syn to buff my team and cast Brav and Prot to Fang and Faith and Prot to the rest, hopefully Snow will have haste, then I go com/rav/rav to the legs.
When the toise is down, I switch to Syn/Sab/Sab and cast Brav and Faith on everyone, I switch to com/rav/rav again until the thing has 999.99 and then go com/com/com... it works! :D
Awesome tutorial. Thank you for streamlining these methods and sharing this! It took me a couple of tries to get the right groove for things but I nailed it in record time on the third try, and I got a Trap for my efforts. My only alteration was using shrouds, which isn't cost effective at all, but I lack the gear used for the auto-brave and auto-faith. Once I find those I'll try this again exactly as suggested. Thanks again! ♥
this strategy is beautiful. the only thing i changed was, instead of recasting faithra and haste on lightning, i cast bravera and hast because she only functions as a commando after that. but anyways, this is a crazy strategy and it helped me out alot! Thanks
@MrGumbigoo If your set up like I am in this video her magic attack will be more powerful than her physical so she should still be casting even as a commando (using ruin instead of physical attacks), so faithra is actually the way to go.
@mclancy1995 As far as I know both versions are the same, you have to get the genji glove in order to break the 99k damage limit, it's not just a PS3 thing.
@Aatjuuh I'll just list off a few things. Double check your gear. You need to be able to survive 2 stomps, if Snow is getting killed by just 2 you'll need either more HP or some resists. Try to figure out how much stagger you need on the legs for Highwind to finish them, they stagger at 400 but I generally needed to make sure it was over 500, also if you're Highwind hits as the leg is stomping you do less damage so watch that. Try to figure it out and get back to me in a PM.
@Jaaaaassssooon Be sure to look over your gear, as mentioned in the description it's important to have your equipment set up the way it is in the video. It's set up the way it is so that she (and Snow) will prefer to use the long range magic attacks rather than the close range physical ones and avoid taking the heavy damage from getting too close.
cheers for these methods. it's nice to have a fast, surefire way to dispatch this fucker. the official strategy guide only mentions using Death, but that's entirely luck based given Death's poor hit rate. since finding these methods i'm thrashing one Adamantoise after another! Still on the first method atm though. Not levelled enough for this one.
In order for the glass floor not to be broken, you should defeated the Adamantoise in Chapter 12. Using Vanille's death b/c that's like the only way to beat it at a low level. Then you would have been able to collect both the treasures.
@thunderedblade wrong. you can fight them at that point, yes, but you WILL die. the only time you can actually defeat an Adamantoise without extreme luck is after storyline completion.
@metalhead3473 In short, yes! These methods cannot be used sucessfully until after storyline completion. However, if you finished the game you'd have no need to do this. Sidequests etc are all part of the game. In fact, the main storyline only makes up for around half the game.
@thunderedblade I'm being a dork, but 6/8 is equal to 3/4. =) I understand what you're saying though. I have the same stats and sometimes the damage you THINK you're gonna put out ends up being peanuts...
@Grandcrosssteve1 lol sorry about the accidental math equiv i actually ment 7/8, or even more sometimes. it's just luck with me, do you know how to clear each leg consistently without having to retry?
This is definately the best video I've seen for farming Adamantoise and alot faster method than the one I'm using now. Thanks alot Pazuzoo360PSN, you rule.
Highwind doesn't work for me but this method works great in respawning him. I also found it easier to just farm the tp and then respawn him again. Tp comes from the guys near the exit. Kill 1 side and 1 grp in the back and you'll always have 3 again. Once you run low on TP head downstairs and circle around where the 2nd mech is, they will be respawned up top again. I used Sazh instead of Snow because I heard he was the better sab of the bunch but its still all the same. TY tho! <3 helped me lots
@SoulSekttor I'm amazed at the number of people that never find that feature since I used it constantly, you just press right on the abilitites tab (notice the arrow pointer after selecting abilities one turn) and it switches over to a "repeat" option.
@YoItsMiniNinja Ah... it's really been too long since I played, but you should pick up both the sash and collector's through the course of the game. I do remember the collector's being in the tower during ch. 11 (you can also buy them in chapter 11, but don't waste your money because you get one soon after they're available). The growth egg is from one of the missions in ch. 11 where you have to fight a Neochu.
@Pazuzoo360PSN the growth egg is the mission with the neochu that is on chapter 12 on gran pulse not chapter 11.....i think it's mission 56 but i may be wrong....
@EanthorElodel all of the mission stones are in the chapter 11 area (Gran Pulse) which is what I meant, and the mission to get the growth egg is actually obtainable while still on chapter 11 - I got it myself before moving on to chapter 12.
@pkrsccr I can't say that I ever had the problem having a gaian ring equipped, but if you're finding it to be an issue you could try using a com/med/med shift to do the two highwinds instead of com/rav/rav, or maybe com/med/rav if you still need a rav to make sure the stagger gets high enough for highwind to one shot the legs.
thanks, this video is the best I have seen on the subject, great job! i do have a question though... maybe i am just retarded, but did you ever have issues with the adamantoise falling on you and killing fang after knocking its legs out? am i missing something or what

My chars have all primary role maxxed and Lvl 2 on one secondary role. Fang has around 22k HP, Light 18k and Snow 25k. Light and Fang wears maxxed Omega/Kain's and Snow has a tier 2 weap. Do you believe I can farm them without summon? I tried but I get stomped before the second leg falls, but I wasn't using a Genji Gloves neither Gaian's rings since I dont have them yet.
Should I get the itens before continuing (missions) or just keep farming with Sahz+summon until maxxing everything?

@KZambro I believe to unlock mission 51 I need to complete pretty much all missions before right? Missions to unlock Titan's Trial, all Titan's trial missions and then Atacus, right? I didn't imagined the gloves would be the top difference in this method.
@Obessa You need to make sure that they're casting spells and not running in to melee since the closer you are the more damage the stomps will do, that's why the equipment is set up the way it is to make Snow and Lightning cast instead of melee. As long as you can survive till getting him down though is all that matters.
Thanks, that was the problem. By the way, how did you manage to make 1mil in about half an hour? I can even kill them faster than you and I get at max 4plats in half an hour, and that's if I am extremely lucky.
@Obessa I just always got pretty decent drop rates with the collectors catalog equipped I guess. I was also doing it a bit faster than this as this is just a basic demonstration of the outline. I was doing 5 every 10 minutes, which came to roughly 15 in 30, and out of those 15, 7 dropped ingots.
Wow. I just tried this method (had to change my tactics to fit my style, hehe ;) ) and it's wonderful. My turnaround time for 'Toises just dropped by literally 10 times.
yah personally vanille is working out great, ive changed com rav rav to com rav med (vanille med), which ensures high chain bonus as well as fully healed characters, also imo load save way is quicker than the stairs, and if you kill it with no drop save anyways as that builds your tp back and if your unlucky you will just be using the summon method for quick kills till you get a drop, thanks again for the video pazuzoo
awsome video, I've been using this method for awhile now, one suggestion, i just replaced lightning with vanille as she has higher magic stat and is a better sab, lightning sometimes takes a bit of time to get all her debuffs to stick, but yah thanks for the video its been a big help
there is JUST ONE problem with this otherwise perfect strategy.
If the toise Strikes just at the beginning it can pull off three stomps... lightning or even fang will die (when the turtle falls, or on the third stomp).. Add a fifth paradigm: COM/MED/MED.. and change to that one when you are going to use highwind on the legs.
This ensures you will survive 100% of the times, you'll never have to retry a single battle. (unless you are really unlucky)... even if the toise pulls off three stomps.
@TanathosX360 Even if he stomps right away I never had trouble with it and he would still only get off 2 stomps. If you do it quickly like this and stagger both legs before doing highwind he shouldn't ever get more than 2 in my experience. The instant stomp is rare either way though, so if you really do have trouble when he does it I'd just say to restart right away.
I'm almost max crystarium and I sometimes get killed if I do not use COM/MED/MED.
With the exact same setup as you (same accesories, but tier 3 weps). Maybe the AI waiting to fill up the 6 ATBs makes the turtle have more time to stomp?
@TanathosX360 I don't know.. it's been a while, shouldn't make a difference, with tier 3 weapons you should take care of the legs even faster though. The only reason I stay in com/rav/rav was to ensure that I build the stagger enough for highwind to take it out, with tier 3 weapons (if they're leveled) though that's probably not an issue and going com/med/med is probably safer to do and won't take any longer so its probably better to do.
Will this strategy work for Long Gui also? (Of course, the required stagger percentages will be different, plus you'd probably need a SEN/SEN/SEN paradigm in there for its moves)
@jdotremy No daze doesn't work on the Long Gui. For them you only need to kill it one time just to get the trophy, so summon, debuff, bravera/enfire all 3, stagger, chip away at it. With low gear you'll get it down about 1/2 before he gets up. Then just use an elixir to get your tp back and do it again. Didn't see much point in killing them more than once so I just did it that way.
@Pazuzoo360PSN I was thinking about farming traps from them seeing as how I'd only gotten one from the adamantoise after 40+ kills. I suppose I could do the dismantle thing, but I haven't decided yet. Oh well, back to adamantoise/shaolongs I guess. Thanks!
This strategy is absolutely awesome, it helped me a lot! My setup is not exactly the same and my party isn't as high-leveled, but after a few attempts and some experimentation I got it to work most of the time! I plan to eat some delicious turtle soup all day tomorrow :---D

Dude I like your technique, but for some reason my Highwind doesn't always destroy a leg. Granted I'm trying it on a tortoise and Snow's and Light's equipment isn't exactly the same but Fang's setup is the same. I even tried with a Lv 80 Kain's Lance and it's not always a guaranteed kill. What am I doing wrong?
It is pretty sweet when everything goes according to plan though.
@wtfunbubba I know the HP and stagger levels of the tortoies is different from the toise, so that could have something to do with it. The stagger gauge effects the damage of highwind, so if its not always killing you may need to make sure you build the gauge a bit more than you are. The other thing that can cause it is if you land your highwind as they are stomping you'll end up not doing full damage, so try to avoid that also.
@Pazuzoo360PSN Hey Paz, yeah man, you're right about the tois. Also I probably should've listened about the gear too, cause my people were rushing in to attack hand-to-hand :).
Man, I swear, strategy is EVERYTHING. Thanks dude, I'll give it a try tonight!
I dont really get why you use snow as a sab in the end of the battle while light and fang are com... i mean he is already debuffed so why dont you use snow as a com aswell for more damage?
@bobbey321 I hate this new youtube format, I've ended up posting/removing multiple posts so far :/
The reason for using Snow as a Sab is because you actually do more damage that way.
Daze doubles the damage you do (roughly) when you hit with it on, and Snow as a sab (because he doesn't have many skills) will just cast Daze over and over as you hit it, making it very effective.
i find it odd i have same gear ult wpns an yet with this method i seem to struggle too kill them this way

Hey man! I tried this strategy this morning, but it fails.
I'm nearly maxed out and I use the EXACT same gear you are
using right there.. But Snow still keeps dying 3 out of 4 times or so..
And 1/2 of the time the legs don't die from the Highwind..
I'll watch your vid more closely but I'd like your opinion aswell or
someone that knows how to do this.. Because maybe i'm overlooking
something..? =/ It's very anoying cause this seems to be a GREAT methode!
Thanks in advance!

This method is working for me so far! Thank you, Pazuzoo!

will this adamantoise turn into a long gui too, if i complete the missions? or just the one in grand pulse?
bobbey321 1 year ago
@bobbey321 No this one always stays the same, and there will still be one in the center of the map on Pulse as well, but the rest will be long gui.

wow i did not know that you could just run to the top of the stairs for it to spawn, i always went through the door and back

I dont really get why you use snow as a sab in the end of the battle while light and fang are com... i mean he is already debuffed so why dont you use snow as a com aswell for more damage?
bobbey321 1 year ago
@bobbey321 I hate this new youtube format, I've ended up posting/removing multiple posts so far :/
The reason for using Snow as a Sab is because you actually do more damage that way.
Daze doubles the damage you do (roughly) when you hit with it on, and Snow as a sab (because he doesn't have many skills) will just cast Daze over and over as you hit it, making it very effective.
