The only thing that's hindering this charcoal drawing from being realistic is the proportions.. The way this person started to draw it like here 00:27 doesn't really help them get a feel for the dimensions of the drawing by just assuming the outlines of the people. That's why you learn to draw with spheres and cubes to make the dimensions correct first.

I really like the detail with the old woman. It's a fantastic job, but the little boy doesn't seem as realistic. I can't stand using charcoal. I think I have like one charcoal pencil out of twenty or so graphite ones xD I use it for the caligraphy at the bottom of mine xD
