They were provocated by actions of Finnish diplomat, who helped legal guardian (Father) of a young girl to get her back from Russia from her Mother. Diplomat did it single handedly against every guideline of Finnish ministery of Foreign affairs, but was not widely condemned by authorities, including Alex.The protestors say that this makes Russia look bad and they wanted to restore similar relationships to Russia as we had before the collaps of the Soviet Union.Naturally, Alex is opposed to that.

they call themselves "anti-fascist", but really they are some kind of stalinists or communists. No-one really takes them seriously, I have no idea why it was on news, propably nothing else happened.

And no, Alex Stubb is not a "cool guy", his a lizard.
