Shonen Knife makes songs that are unassuming and unapologetically happy. It's a lot harder than it sounds to write a song about your favorite food and not have it come out as tongue-in-cheek.. For a sad, sophisticated person like Cobain, as great a songwriter as he was, writing songs as happy as SK's would have been simply impossible, which is perhaps why he found them interesting.

Oh, and the melody of this song is great.
