  • I would love for you to play a marauder, your an awesome player keep up the good work, Also how you finding Swtor these days?

  • @skiner still gearing up my Vanguard - 5 more BM pieces to go. I leveled a Sentinel to 20 but am now working on a 17 Gunslinger, since they're not played much

  • Question: At about 1:14, you say, " I pop my heal over time and my health pot..." What is the heal over time? I can't think of a single heal vanguards get and its driving me nuts! Thanks in advance.

  • @MrPeppa28 Adrenaline Rush, heals 15% of max HP over 10 seconds

  • He never used force push wich is a free charge. He could strife away from u using chilling into a charge. He got 1 more stun called backhand stuns for 4 sec btw wich Id use after ur trinket on choke and use ravage while ur stunned...also intimidating roar to gap for a charge. also note that only a immortal specced jugg will apply a stun for 2 sec on charge (if specced). U interrupt ravage? why not smash hes face while hes locked?

  • Taugrim i love your video and i was wondering of you could make a sniper and give tips on them

  • @manupyopansy I rolled a Gunslinger a few days ago, he's now level 15. Stay tuned

  • I love the combat in this game and love how there are no mods or Macros because I feel like those things take away some of the skill. Why do people want them anyways? Just make your complaints about the UI to Bioware and let them fix it, not many games let you change the UI.

That said I hate the world design, it feels more like Guild Wars and not a proper MMO so I wont be played after my sub is up. They need to get rid of the fleets and put everyone in the dead cities to populate the worlds.

  • Awesome daily input mate, would love to here your thoughts on pvp healers, currently playing a sage. Big fan of your work.

  • Your commentaries are so well thought out, clear, and concise that it renders anything I could write here almost mute. So I will simply say that if you are curious about class mechanics, having a bit of trouble with your class, or just want to get that edge in PVP this is an example of one of the best commentators out there. I probably will not roll a trooper, but this is definitely applicable for a hybrid BH Powertech. Good job sir.

  • @jleack I've been having a great time playing SWTOR.

I'm not going to freak out about bugs and issues 6 weeks after launch, and the World PVP on my server as Republic is a lot of fun. If anything, we need more Empire players.

  • @jleack

I'm surprised you're bitching about a quality mmo people are enjoying still.

  • Taugrim are you picking up champion/centurion gear with defensive stats such as Defense and Shield Rating or DPS gear? When I pvp I usually get spammed with Force and Tech attacks so I considered running with DPS gear as a tanking spec but I drop from 18000 HP to 16000 HP

  • @chazdoit here is how you should gear for the Iron Fist spec:

    1. Supercommando Shield offhand: to leverage the free +15% Shield Chance buff you get from the tanking stance

    2. Combat Tech 4-pc set: for the awesome +15% Crit Chance to Rocket Punch (Stockstrike). Alternatively, if you prefer the Supercommando set bonuses, you can go 4-pc Supercommando and swap out the mods for DPS

    3. Go for DPS stats for the remaining slots: Eliminator, Combat Tech, and in some cases Combat Medic

  • @taugrimtaugrim Oh thanks, but Ima Sith Assassin Darkness (tank) actually. The tank gear gives me an extra 2k health but also gives me a lot of defense and shield which is pretty useless when Im beign spammed with gravity rounds or ganked by a smuggler shoot first, since all those attacks are tech attack.

  • Really good commentator and videos. Do daily videos because they help thousands of people.

  • @taugrimtaugrim Some ppl keep saying the best spec for vanguard in any pvp match is the shield/assault hybrid, but you proved there are a lot of ways to play as a Vanguard. :) By the way what gear are you using atm with that spec?

  • great video shame u dont have more viewers

  • Taugrim for president!

  • Are you going to play Guild Wars 2?

  • I find that WOW,Allods,Rift pvp videos are better then swtor for some unknown reason! (im not hating, just saying)

  • @samod1990 some people find the much longer PVP fights / higher time-to-kill in SWTOR to be boring to watch, but I find SWTOR PVP to be much more tactical in nature and therefore enjoy it a lot

  • Great vid, I think the length is perfect for something you intend to do daily.

  • Comment removed

  • @threefourtythree your original comment was awesome. Why did you remove it? :)

  • @taugrimtaugrim Because I'm a stickler for grammer, even on YouTube. ;) Comment was reposted below, chief! Thanks again, and awesome that you noticed even the little things.

  • good stuff

  • i like these quick little tips and strat videos, keep 'em coming dude you're awesome

  • Hehe awesome! Pls keep up with this videos!

  • That was incredible

  • That assassin was really bad, I play deception and i can down even a skilled ranged target without using any cool-downs in less than 30 seconds

  • @taugrimtaugrim So, are you playinh full-out Shield Specialist now? If so it's great to see another Shield Specialist PvP-maniac, I find it a very rare spec for PvPers- but amazingly effective in Warzones (Huttball especially). Not to mention that it's one of my favorite commentators :)

  • Awesome video, noticed you comment on using auto attacks to keep ammo high in the initial stages of the fight. You mentioned it during the "5. Heat (Ammo) Mechanics" section of the guide but I was wondering if you would be able to do a more in depth look/video at the strategies around its use (when to spam/when to conserve/best time to use vent heat etc.). The same could be said for any of the other resource mechanics that you have had experience with in the game (like centering/fury).

  • Why do u like so much in 23/0/18 assassin build...

I like the infiltration more but I like to know what appeals u in this build....

  • Another great video :)

  • I see the assassin fight was much closer than the one versus the juggernaut

  • Great vid Taugrim. Imo the fight against the Assassin shows that the Assassin/Shadow class is probably in need of some slight balance tweaks. You outplay that guy farily well and he doesn't use his HiPS, yet it's still a very close fight. Have been playing an Assassin myself lately (only lvl 29 atm) but they feel like such an easy mode/slightly OP class to me.

  • @KestelKitt we have to remember that the Assassin was probably better geared than the Juggernaut was.

My guess is that the Juggernaut was in partial Champion gear - as am I - and that the Assassin has some Battlemaster gear. I haven't had an opportunity to speak with either of them.

  • @taugrimtaugrim Fair point, and the difference in expertise can certainly make quite an impact in a fight. I'm certainly not one to scream 'nerf' because I hate to see classes messed around too much especially if it has more to do with gear/play style that class mechanics. From my play time on the Assassin so far though it has been quite the cake walk both in pve and pvp.

  • @KestelKitt Shadow / Assassin are very strong in PVP.

Excellent (burst) damage, ranged CCs, sprint, stealth, capability to spec hybrid tank/DPS e.g. 23/0/18 and have both Guard and pull abilities coupled with effective damage.

I've been satisfied with the performance of my Iron Fist spec when soloing or grouping. Offensive tank specs, e.g. WoW Prot Pally and WAR Swordmaster, tend to suit me.

There are some changes coming to Assassin in 1.1.2 so I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

  • @taugrimtaugrim Yeah they are very much a well rounded class, perfect for kiting due to their mix or strong melee/ranged skills, cc and sprint. Seems my playstyle is pretty similar to yours, I was Swordmaster in WAR and Reaver in Lotro. Will be interesting to see how the 1.1.2 changes work, though to be honest Assassin isn't my main so will probably be more an impact to those who are. My main atm is Scoundrel (fully supported the nerf we recieved) also lvling a Vanguard atm

  • @KestelKitt you don't feel that Scoundrel/Operative was over-nerfed?

I've been talking to guildees who have level 50 characters of that class and their 2 cents is the 2 nerfs together were too much. I think the 20% nerf to the opener damage on top of the 50% -> 30% change for Armor penetration was bit too much of an adjustment.

  • @taugrimtaugrim Too be honest I think they almost got it perfect. Maybe they should return the armour pen to 50% but other than that the class almost seems spot on now. I think a lot of people are finding it hard to accept atm because it was just so easy to burn someone down before the nerf. I guess it'll take a little time for them to iron out the balance issues though, not to mention problems between the mirror classes with animation delays on Republic side etc.

  • That Assassin didn't vanish to reset fight/heal? Tsk, tsk.

  • I want to see more losses and commentary on the mistakes you did. The length of the video seems fine for a daily format.

  • @night1337pie I made a mistake at the end of the Assassin fight, as I mentioned in the video. High Impact Bolt was off cooldown but I didn't force-DoT my opponent with Stockstrike to open up High Impact Bolt.

It didn't end up affecting the outcome of the fight, but it was worth noting.

  • just as good as the first daily, nice work. it seems like i should play all the classes to really get what to use and what not to use in pvp. for example you know to do (insert here) to (this class). i dont : ) great job!

  • Damnit Taugrim, making me want to roll a Vanguard...good vid.

  • Really good video. <3 the play by play keep up the good work

  • Taugrim. I like you because you make sense.

  • This is why ultimately I will play a vanguard they have such a good tool set with great mobility.

    Nice video as always.

  • how big was patch 1.1?

  • @TheSuperpipboy 1.1 wasn't at all big, they didn't do much of anything.

  • I like the daily video idea you're going with, but I'd really appreciate longer videos. Ya know? If I'm going to watch a video I want it to be longer than 2-5 minutes. But that's just me.

  • @link688246 Well, thse are dailies so it makes sense they are short, but Taugrim has plenty of long videos on his streaming page.

  • @chazdoit But they could be longer than 3 minutes even if they are dailies. And yes he does, which I've already seen, I'm not gonna want to watch the same vids back to back none stop just because everything else is short.

  • @link688246 Understood.

The main challenge for me in making my 10-minute Guide videos is collecting good illustrative footage from non-faceroll matches. Sometimes I have to record multiple matches until I see what I'm looking for.

These shorts are much easier to work with, and I have greater flexibility in what I can cover.

I'm experimenting with this format and will see how it goes.

  • @taugrimtaugrim I personally enjoy this quick little format and am currently working on switching keybinds and getting used to pure mouse controls.

  • @link688246 It would obviously be great if Taugrim could put up 5-10 minute videos daily but the amount of work this would require would be quite substantial. He doesn't just record any old thing and slap generic crappy music onto it. These are high quality, informative videos and probably take 10 times longer to create. I'm giddy at the thought of a minute or two of Taugrim videos every day.

  • @Mekias I never said the daily videos had to be 5-10 minutes long. Now maybe 1/4 or so be 5+ minutes , that would be nice. Also, have you ever recorded?Have you ever made videos? It's not difficult to edit them, to put music on them. There's not much work to it once you know what you're doing. As for it being high quality..lol..It's not hard to have high quality videos either, so can't really say it would take up much time if any.

  • @link688246 Taugrim is doing a lot more than what you mentioned. Just finding a few fights a day that can be interesting and informative is a tough task. Once he has that, it sounds like he puts a ton of time into analyzing the fight, what he did, what his opponents did, etc. Then he puts all those thoughts together into a coherent, cohesive audio stream. He's said himself that it can take several tries to get that right. And when I say "high quality", I don't mean HD.

  • nice

  • Awesome!
