  • Thank you for having such a professional, well made and very informative video. I was on another video and the word "Um." was used far too much and made me take her reviews as a joke, and was not very informative. Thank you! Now I know how to purchase my future babies. :)

  • I noticed a lot that you say to buy from licensed breeders but I can't find any breeders in my area, sometimes a pet store will have a few Sugies but that's all I've been able to find. I was just wondering how you felt about Pet stores are should I see if I can find a breeder (licensed) further from where I live?

i m from italy and i have an issue finding their Italian name ..can anyone give ne the scientific - Latin _name?

    thank u

  • Do you know what the equivalent for the USDA is in Canada?

  • Hmm, not sure if you'd be able to provide an answer but I live in Malaysia and after some reading found out that the laws about breeding/selling Sugar Gliders here are pretty lax. Due to that just about anyone can sell them in whatever condition they wish at any price (sad i know), making it difficult to find a trustworthy person I can purchase one from. Do you have any tips so that I can discern on my own the age/condition of a Sugar Glider and if I should purchase it?

  • Are you going to make any new videos? And do you know any good sugar glider vets in iowa city, iowa?

  • Are you going to make any new videos? And do you know any good vets in Iowa City, Iowa?

  • I have wacthed alot of your videos and my cousin owns three adult male sugar gliders and i am thinking of purchasing two for myself. Do you know of any good breeders in new york?

  • @TheLaziiness The ASGV cannot "recommend" any particular breeder or organization. However, you can find updated reviews of most major breeders and suppliers at the website sugargliderreviews . org

  • do you have a list of approved sugar glider sellers? I live in arizona and I don't have the faintest idea where I can find a licensed breeder

  • I figure you probably won't respond to this but its worth a try. I'm seriously considering buying a sugar glider and am already saving up the money to put aside for it but I'm not going to be able to purchase one for awhile. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and I'm having a hard time finding a licensed sugar glider breeder here, and after watching the video I don't trust the internet to get one there, so do you have like a list of licensed breeders or a site that is licensed?

  • I am considering a sugar glider as a pet. And I have been watching your videos to learn more and find out if they are right for me. Do you know where I can find a good USDA Licensed breeder near Springfield, Mo? And an experienced exotics vet?

  • How can I find a reputable breeder near me?

  • where can i buy these pets in the US

  • do you know if there are any sugar glider sellers in or around poteau OK, i would really aprieciate it because i was want to save up for one(or two:) )

  • thank you for the videos.. my friend bought one and they told her that she should only feed her fruit and they were wrong.. :(

  • is pocket pets a good place to get a sugar glider?

  • my friend has 12 gliders and one of them just had babies, would it be ok to buy one of his??? or should i just find a breeder?

  • What's the average price of these pets in the US?

  • @Europasingstome Anywhere from $300-$500 for a joey that is certified to be healthy by a Veterinarian. Be careful of scams that sound too good to be true.

  • @sugarglidervet That's a pretty expensive little marsupial. I'm going to have to wait a while before I can afford one :/

  • Dr. Brust what are some good places to check about buying gliders after watching many of your videos i don't trust classified's anymore but i'm very interested in buying a glider

  • where can i get a sugar glider near chicago?? and i heard i was supposed to get 2 of them because they could get depressed??

  • How do you find them and buy them? How much do they cost?

  • I have two Sugar Gliders. My male has a problem with biting people including myself. i play with them everyday and cant seem to get him to stop. THis is a seriouse problem when it comes to handling him and clipping his nails. Do you have any advice in clipping his nails and getting him to stop biting?

  • @orangeboarder98 Actually, there are two videos in this series specifically on those topics. Please watch them and I think they will answer all your questions. :-)

  • How can you get a copy of the lincese? Just ask to make a copy? Is it still legal for you to have a copy of the owner you purchased it from? What if something happens and it turns out to be fake-can YOU get in trouble for purchaseing not knowing it might be fake?

  • There's really not a need to make a copy of the license. Just ask the breeder to show it to you. Write down the expiration date and their license number - and you can easily look it up online to make sure it's real. Some states DO require that you be able to provide proof that you purchased directly from someone with a USDA license, so any reputable breeder will already provide you with a bill of sale that includes their license number in writing. That will suffice. :-)

  • what are some good breeders you recomend?

  • how do you find a good professional breeder.... google?

  • I am a high school student and I have lately been thinking of getting a sugar glider. How can I get information on where good local breeders are? Also, if there is not any breeders in my area, is there an alternative way to get a sugar glider without having to go far because I don't think my mother would be willing to drive me to get one if it's far away.

  • Now I know how I could have them right thank you so much for bringing us information we need!

  • you are so kind to share us bright ideas about this Sugar Gliders

  • Rather have them on some license breeder though it cost a bit high but it will make me rest assured that they can provide me help along the way

  • I would love to have a pair of this Sugar gliders for the start, can anyone here recommend some reputable breeders in DC?

  • I love to have this Sugar Gliders & as I've watched some of your videos I guess I can do such things & if ever I had some question that your video didn't provide, I will seek for your help sir, just in case.

  • some people I know says this is a great pet & good one to breed for making some business

  • thanks for the every informational video you have here compared of what other forum etc... ever! the credibility is under rated

  • what would the authorities do to those illegal breeders they would caught selling & breeding Sugar Gliders?

  • just wanna ask you Dr Brust if I do want to be a independent breeder what will I need to secure a licese from USDA?

  • Just contact the USDA in Raleigh NC and they will send you a packet with all the requirments.

  • isnt this kind of pet that look scary? hmmm I wonder how would I take care of this wherein I find it a bit scary.. looks like a bat to me loz :p

  • Some people do think they look a little like either a bat or a squirrel. They are really very sweet pets, so watch the rest of the videos in this series before making your decision. :-)

  • should I really have to ask someone who is selling sugar gliders the USDA licensed before considering on buying with them?

  • Absolutely. The last thing you want to do is support illegal breeding operations which are often substandard and abusive towards the animals.

  • this is not for everyone nor anybody can really take care of this Sugar gliders but I guess anyone can try & make themselves have even a single glider & see to themselves if they can manage to do what others can do for this kind of pet, I like it very much & they look very lovely!

  • there were few worthy breeder that is selling in pretty much high price, you thinks, would It be reasonable for them to sell it on high price?

  • is it really advisable to have them when still young or is it ok to get an adult instead of young ones?

  • In order for a baby to bond properly with it's new family (humans), ideally it should be adopted between the ages of approximately 8-12 weeks out of pouch. Older animals bond much more slowly - and adults which have never bonded with humans can be extremely challenging.

  • I got my two sugar gliders from a recommended breeder, and I have been thankful that I made that decision every day since getting them.

  • Many breeders are now here in our area, did you think I could trust them if I will to buy on them? One thing I assure that I can always go to them easily whenever I have a problem with what I've bought.

  • Overall how much you think will cause me having a pair of Sugar Gliders? Including cage, foods, vitamins, food bowls etc

  • Usually $400-600 for all the necessary supplies and one animal. Additional animals are usually between 300-400 each.

  • do you have a transcript record for all of this videos? I want to review all of it to learn more about this Sugar gliders!

  • does proper documentation If we will apply for our Sugar Gliders requires receipt where we bought them? not all people hava a proper documentation of their Sugar Glider actually I'm just planning for it!

  • It all depends on what state you live in. Some states like Georgia require that you be able to provide proof of where you got it, but most don't even license them at all. You need to check with your state Fish & Wildlife Dept. as well as your local municipalities to see if any licensing is required. Also, if you are buying from a USDA licensed breeder, they should be able to tell you what - if any - licensing is required.

  • just wanna ask why in some other places they not allowed to have sugar gliders as pet?

  • It just all depends on which laws are on the books. Right now, only CA, MA, and PA prohibit these animals, but some cities and counties have their own laws. If you are buying from a reputable, USDA licensed breeder, they should be able to tell you exactly what - if any - licenses are required.

  • I've seen a thread in some other link about sugar gliders saying that " Dr. Brunst's videos look legitimate" as I've watch your videos, it is really feels good to see most credible person who could give some most credible ideas so happy to have you here sir!

  • is it really a must to have them as pair? and one more thing I do have asthma, is it ok if I were to pet even a single glider? I like it so much!!!

  • If you watch some of the other videos in this series, we address your question about being in pairs in detail. As far as the asthma goes, the best thing to do is consult your doctor and ask how you should test it to make sure it will be a good pet for you.

  • about to buy a pair of Sugar Gliders but some friends told me that they really annoying cause most of the time they were awake at night!

  • there are lots of myths out there put forth by people who haven't been educated on how to raise these animals. I suggest you watch the other videos in this series before making your final decision, and all your questions will be answered.

  • I have a joey just for 2 days, I bought it on my friend. It used to bite me a bit, will that act of that lil joey will be gone sooner or later?

  • If you watch all the other videos in this series - especially the ones on bonding - they will answer all your questions in detail.

  • don't wanna have this kind of pet anymore, I have them before but unfortunately didnt last long with me. maybe if I should see this video a lot more early I can take care of it correctly!

  • that's ok. A lot of people aren't educated correctly before buying a pet - and that is exactly what this video series is for. :-)

  • I am trying to become more educated about sugar gliders, maybe I can say, your site is the best I have found

  • I have a pair of this stuff but dont have papers for them, how would I register them?

  • in most states they don't require any registrations, because they are not considered exotic. However, in states like NJ, there is a $20 license fee. You will need to check with the Dept. of Fish& Wildlife in your specific state to see if anything is required. Also, check with your municipality as well because they may require some sort of pet license.

  • mostly what will happen if those sugar gliders were not giving most attention that they needed?

  • If they are housed alone, and not given human attention, they can self-mutilate and suffer from depression.

  • I was thinking of buying pet for my lil bro, does this sugar gliders really fun to deal with!? my brother is 8yrs old, is it ok if he will be having this kind of pet?

  • after looking some of your videos maybe I can say I am ready to have it as my pet. Before, I have a 2nd thought of having them cause I might not be able to take care of them properly but now thanks to you Doc!

  • I've been into the misleading information about on how to feed my pet, glad to see real vets like you who have time to educate & share real benefitial stuff like this.

  • whoooaa so they dont need any vitamins or any shots like dogs & cats? but how much do you vets charge in every Sugar Gliders check up?

  • make sure to watch the other videos in this series about nutrition and other aspects of husbandry. They will answer all your questions in great detail.

  • are those Sugar Gliders who have special colors cost much more than the typical color of Sugar Gliders?

  • be careful of specially-colored sugar gliders. There are many scams out there - so be sure to buy any sugar glider from a reputable, licensed USDA breeder

  • Doc, I've got 1 sugar glider from my friend & just wanna ask if it's ok if I dont have him a pair or is it really necessarily to have him a pair?

  • Check out the other videos in this series. We address that question - and a lot of others that you are also probably wondering - in detail in the other videos. :-)

  • got a new pair of that sugar gliders 2 days ago & they are so cute, is it ok that I have them now cause accdg to the seller they were less than 2mos old, I really dont know if it's ok that they were far from their parents?

  • the ideal age for them to be placed in a home is between 8 and 12 weeks out of pouch. Generally speaking, if the fur on their tail if fluffy, then they are probably at least 6 weeks old.

  • how much will it cost me if I were to consult a vet for my sugar gliders?

  • There's no set fee. Every vet is a little different.

  • does it necessary to have a pair of sugar gliders? what if the other one died, what will I do?

  • check out all the other videos in this series. We cover this topic in depth on other videos.

  • is it really true that my sugar glider can be confiscated if not legally purchased?

  • It depends on the state regulations. In CA and PA where they are illegal to own, that is certainly the case.

  • if my place is far away with those exotic vets places what's the best I can do if I have problem with my pet?

  • I have bought a sugar glider from a friend & he say that those were from a good breeder of Sugar gliders but when I ask him something about sugar gliders & we call that breeder, it doesn't show that the person really knows about this pet, I was so upset!

  • That is one of the main reasons why the Association of Sugar Glider Veterinarians created this video series. This way you have reliable, veterinary-approved information.

  • Is there a list anywhere of USDA approved breeders for sugar gliders? I don't even know where to begin looking.

  • very inforamative, unlike others that is so unreliable! Im happy you find time to educate us about Sugar Gliders!

  • is it true that no one could have an exotic pet without a license?

  • Generally, they are no longer considered an exotic pet - and only a few states require any kind of licensing.

  • find them illegaly trade here in our place but lots of teens would wan't to have them, me as well. @_@

  • im having this kinda research before having them as my pet, would you mind recommend us some reliable petstore for this glider here in florida?

  • We really can't recommend any particular breeder, but my advice would be to stay away from a pet store. These animals have to be adopted at a very precise age, so it's best to go through a licensed USDA breeder who specializes only in these animals.

  • @sugarglidervet

yeah! I agreee to that! petstore sucks most of the times they really don't have the knowledge on what they're selling!!!

  • I have bought them illegally & lately, they usually get ill, what will I do to make them real healthy?

  • Best advice we can give you is to watch all the videos in this series and follow what you learn in them.

  • I've gotta chose this one over a hamster, they are much more cute to handle :P

  • wow great! Going to have one that I could bring along with me all the time, thanks for the tip!

  • im a pet lover & im planning to have one of this Sugar gliders, glad you to have some words from you about this pet.

  • thanks for the time showing us pet owners some concerns!

  • surely vets knows what is best! Thanks!

  • I guess this information should be spread throughout, so many will be aware of it

  • I <3 them!

  • now I have a bright idea to consider before having that Sugar Glider, nice info!

  • would you recommend some reliable USDA accredited store so I can make sure it will be a better Sugar glider I'll be having

  • thanks for sharing this to us, cause I do wanna have one of those popular pets in town that Sugar Glider!

  • ive been wanting a sugar glider forever! great tips! thank you!

  • can you recomend a website or a place to buy sugar gliders for me that fits everything you said
