Also, what are the supplies needed when first buying a Sugar Glider's supplies? And about how much should it additionally cost aside from the Sugar Glider?
Thank you for having such a professional, well made and very informative video. I was on another video and the word "Um." was used far too much and made me take her reviews as a joke, and was not very informative. Thank you! Now I know how to purchase my future babies. :)
I noticed a lot that you say to buy from licensed breeders but I can't find any breeders in my area, sometimes a pet store will have a few Sugies but that's all I've been able to find. I was just wondering how you felt about Pet stores are should I see if I can find a breeder (licensed) further from where I live?
My cousin is wanting to get rid of her glider that she has had for about 5 years. She is in college now and just doesn't feel she has adequate time for him anymore. If you get an adult glider, do they bond with their new owners?
Hmm, not sure if you'd be able to provide an answer but I live in Malaysia and after some reading found out that the laws about breeding/selling Sugar Gliders here are pretty lax. Due to that just about anyone can sell them in whatever condition they wish at any price (sad i know), making it difficult to find a trustworthy person I can purchase one from. Do you have any tips so that I can discern on my own the age/condition of a Sugar Glider and if I should purchase it?

I figure you probably won't respond to this but its worth a try. I'm seriously considering buying a sugar glider and am already saving up the money to put aside for it but I'm not going to be able to purchase one for awhile. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and I'm having a hard time finding a licensed sugar glider breeder here, and after watching the video I don't trust the internet to get one there, so do you have like a list of licensed breeders or a site that is licensed?

do you know if there are any sugar glider sellers in or around poteau OK, i would really aprieciate it because i was want to save up for one(or two:) )
@Europasingstome Anywhere from $300-$500 for a joey that is certified to be healthy by a Veterinarian. Be careful of scams that sound too good to be true.
Dr. Brust what are some good places to check about buying gliders after watching many of your videos i don't trust classified's anymore but i'm very interested in buying a glider
I have two Sugar Gliders. My male has a problem with biting people including myself. i play with them everyday and cant seem to get him to stop. THis is a seriouse problem when it comes to handling him and clipping his nails. Do you have any advice in clipping his nails and getting him to stop biting?
@orangeboarder98 Actually, there are two videos in this series specifically on those topics. Please watch them and I think they will answer all your questions. :-)
How can you get a copy of the lincese? Just ask to make a copy? Is it still legal for you to have a copy of the owner you purchased it from? What if something happens and it turns out to be fake-can YOU get in trouble for purchaseing not knowing it might be fake?
There's really not a need to make a copy of the license. Just ask the breeder to show it to you. Write down the expiration date and their license number - and you can easily look it up online to make sure it's real. Some states DO require that you be able to provide proof that you purchased directly from someone with a USDA license, so any reputable breeder will already provide you with a bill of sale that includes their license number in writing. That will suffice. :-)
I am a high school student and I have lately been thinking of getting a sugar glider. How can I get information on where good local breeders are? Also, if there is not any breeders in my area, is there an alternative way to get a sugar glider without having to go far because I don't think my mother would be willing to drive me to get one if it's far away.
I love to have this Sugar Gliders & as I've watched some of your videos I guess I can do such things & if ever I had some question that your video didn't provide, I will seek for your help sir, just in case.
Some people do think they look a little like either a bat or a squirrel. They are really very sweet pets, so watch the rest of the videos in this series before making your decision. :-)
this is not for everyone nor anybody can really take care of this Sugar gliders but I guess anyone can try & make themselves have even a single glider & see to themselves if they can manage to do what others can do for this kind of pet, I like it very much & they look very lovely!
In order for a baby to bond properly with it's new family (humans), ideally it should be adopted between the ages of approximately 8-12 weeks out of pouch. Older animals bond much more slowly - and adults which have never bonded with humans can be extremely challenging.
Many breeders are now here in our area, did you think I could trust them if I will to buy on them? One thing I assure that I can always go to them easily whenever I have a problem with what I've bought.
does proper documentation If we will apply for our Sugar Gliders requires receipt where we bought them? not all people hava a proper documentation of their Sugar Glider actually I'm just planning for it!
It all depends on what state you live in. Some states like Georgia require that you be able to provide proof of where you got it, but most don't even license them at all. You need to check with your state Fish & Wildlife Dept. as well as your local municipalities to see if any licensing is required. Also, if you are buying from a USDA licensed breeder, they should be able to tell you what - if any - licensing is required.
It just all depends on which laws are on the books. Right now, only CA, MA, and PA prohibit these animals, but some cities and counties have their own laws. If you are buying from a reputable, USDA licensed breeder, they should be able to tell you exactly what - if any - licenses are required.
I've seen a thread in some other link about sugar gliders saying that " Dr. Brunst's videos look legitimate" as I've watch your videos, it is really feels good to see most credible person who could give some most credible ideas so happy to have you here sir!
If you watch some of the other videos in this series, we address your question about being in pairs in detail. As far as the asthma goes, the best thing to do is consult your doctor and ask how you should test it to make sure it will be a good pet for you.
there are lots of myths out there put forth by people who haven't been educated on how to raise these animals. I suggest you watch the other videos in this series before making your final decision, and all your questions will be answered.
don't wanna have this kind of pet anymore, I have them before but unfortunately didnt last long with me. maybe if I should see this video a lot more early I can take care of it correctly!
in most states they don't require any registrations, because they are not considered exotic. However, in states like NJ, there is a $20 license fee. You will need to check with the Dept. of Fish& Wildlife in your specific state to see if anything is required. got a new pair of that sugar gliders 2 days ago & they are so cute, is it ok that I have them now cause accdg to the seller they were less than 2mos old, I really dont know if it's ok that they were far from their parents?
the ideal age for them to be placed in a home is between 8 and 12 weeks out of pouch. Generally speaking, if the fur on their tail if fluffy, then they are probably at least 6 weeks old.
I have bought a sugar glider from a friend & he say that those were from a good breeder of Sugar gliders but when I ask him something about sugar gliders & we call that breeder, it doesn't show that the person really knows about this pet, I was so upset!

We really can't recommend any particular breeder, but my advice would be to stay away from a pet store. These animals have to be adopted at a very precise age, so it's best to go through a licensed USDA breeder who specializes only in these animals.

im having this kinda research before having them as my pet, would you mind recommend us some reliable petstore for this glider here in florida?

We really can't recommend any particular breeder, but my advice would be to stay away from a pet store. These animals have to be adopted at a very precise age, so it's best to go through a licensed USDA breeder who specializes only in these animals.

yeah! I agreee to that! petstore sucks most of the times they really don't have the knowledge on what they're selling!!!

Best advice we can give you is to watch all the videos in this series and follow what you learn in them.
