  • I watched the first exhibition of the artefacts raised from titanic at the Science Museum in London, 2003. Of all the artifacts, I touched one even thought youre not supposed to. It was the bell from the crow's nest that they rang at the sighting of the berg. Since then Ive had bad luck... :)

  • I went to the exhibit. It was so sad seeing the names of all the passengers. Not just because of the ship sinking but because it showed how cruel people were. The majority of the people who died were in the c class ;(

  • It was the 10th april not 11th get it right

  • It took 97 years for these artifacts to make the crossing from England to America ( with a brief stop at the bottom of the ocean ). So i guess Titanic lost the prize for the quickest crossing :-P

  • i think its so amazing that they found they titanic but the fact that they took some things and put it in a museum is horrible just let it rest but other than that good video x

  • No, it was the 12th, the newspaper even said.

  • @ALITITANIC

    Good point

  • is this exhibit open yet??

  • Titanic departed on the 10th, not the 11th. Bad rep for Discovery Chanel.

  • freakin' amazing. good on u.

  • nice video

  • Fishes and whales, THe titanic has arrive to north atlantic ocean. Lol

  • wow great video

  • wow, well i dont live in NY,not even in USA XD XD

  • Great Video...such a amazing... even Titanic never reached in Newyork until it's pieces reaches...R.I.P. Titanic...so sad tragedy...!!!!!

  • Ballard probably shares my dislike of this.

  • come see our newest scrap exhibition

  • we have cups bowls and shit nobody wants :D

  • MJ was history.

  • been there !! so much better than i expected!!

  • :( come to Canada Vancouver!!

    Titanic<3

  • my great, great uncle designed the Titanic

  • omg omg who wants to see a lightbulb ?

  • WHAT?!?! where??? WHat kind of lightbulb?!?! I am so fucking there!!!!!

  • everynone if its from the titanic

  • i would love to go

if i could afford to go to NYC i would go down. but i cant right now, although i did go to the museum in orlando...

i suggest to anyone who goes, take lots of pictures

  • woaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaoooooooooooooo! amazing!!

  • should i bring my life vest? ? ?

  • It was a ship full of rich guys! That's why they made a big stuipid fucking drama of it!

  • no they werent all rich, actually most of the survivors were rich, they blocked the third class passengers off and let them fucking die

you must not have been rich because you are blaming those with money for this.

  • Why is everyone so obsessed with a sunken ship, there are thousands of them.

  • Yet none with the same allure, why? Maybe the number of dead and the huge errors involved. It could be that it happened at a time when the spirit of 'Can Do' was strong.

There are many reasons. Peronally I am amazed at the granduer of it all. That simply can not be found in a tanker sunk off the coast of Africa, now can it?

  • why? because it was a tragedy...

there are lots of other ships people obsess over.

i had family on that boat!

why is everyone so obsessed with the death of michael jackson? hes just another person who died.. they dont make a big deal over non celebs. that die... people have things they are interested in, for me, its history.. the titanic was a part of history

  • its not about michael jackson.its about the legacy that he left behind and the music that he create.we are celebrating THAT

  • when is it coming?

  • cool can't wait to go...so this is like a museum right?

  • hmmm a lightbulb? they probably just took a regular bulb and smashed it... jk cool exhibit

  • heh:P

  • i am going there for my b-day

  • Sorry for the typo. It's 'died' not 'dies'. My bad.

  • The Titanic is considered a memorial to those that dies in the sinking. Just like the Edmund Fitzgerald. It will never be razed because it's sacred ground, a burial place for those that died and should be respected. I think it's wonderful that they can show these artifacts. A piece of history to be remembered.

  • I believe they had something like this in Pittsburgh recently. I saw it last summer. It was pretty amazing to see some of the artifacts, such as the clothing that was still somewhat intact and the dishes that had not been destroyed. Titanic is so interesting...

  • killer2611,

    Your Sense of humor SUCKS.

  • It would be fun to see that stuff. I remember a few years ago there was an exposition at my local science center and they actually had a big 5x5 piece of the ship's hull.

  • cool

  • Reminds me of the guy who survived the Titanic disaster but then decided to board the Hindenburg years later.

  • Are you serious??

  • Really? Thats terrible...poor guy

  • I love Titanic! I so want to see the exhibit! Why does it have to be in NYC? T_T

  • lol It's Here because NY was it's original rendezvous, or destination 97 years ago.

  • it actually tours around the world but the exhibit usually last a few months at one place

  • There'll be a world tour? OMG! I really wish Titanic "docks" here. :p

  • u cant bring up titanic because it is used to the water pressure and if u do it will break into a million bagillion pieces

  • they have certain things in properly pressured cases.. i went to the expo everything was well preserved and all of the cases had gages in them for pressure.

  • this reminds me of the ghost busters.

  • bringing up the ship, and especially this ship, is near impossible because of the shear weight and size.

and it wouldn't be lifting the ship as in pulling it out of the water, but through a platform underneath the ship to prevent and thing from being pulled apart. sounds challenging? i know!

  • its all in pieces and discintagrating (spelling) as we speek i went to the expo.. they said because of the metal eating bacteria in the water, withing in a couple of decades, it will be gone.

  • hey look and iceburg full steam ahead

  • it wasn't like that. the ship was too big to make sharp turns, and it was misty. The water was still, so they couldn't see the ripples at the base of the iceburg. The boilers were on full heat, and even if they had cooled them in time, it wouldn't have been enough. They didn't SEE the iceburg until it was too late to turn or stop.

  • good observation

  • not only that, the lookout forgot his binoculars and the ship was going so fast that the cold air made it nearly impossible to see without tearing up due to not having goggles on.

  • exactly!

  • Halifax museum and cemetery, Titanic artifacts are amazing and the grave sites are very moving. You must so see them.

  • :o

i want to move to new york SOOOO badly!!!! :'(

  • I went to the exhibition here in miami's planetary and science museum and all the artifacts there were amazing.. just to see through a porthole from one of the port side door's glass was an once in a life time experiance.. i totally recomended:) pluss check at the store.. you can purchace coal from the boilers in glass bulbs..

  • I saw that exibit in another city, its cool. You get a card that tells you who "you" are at the beggining of the tour. This was a real person on the titanic. Then at the end you see if you would have survived or not. The artifacts are great too. Its a great exibit!

  • i want to go down there and explore it ( in a scuba suit of course lol)

  • you cant even if your in scuba mask

  • You can't, it's over 2 miles down, only submersibles can stand depths at that pressure and then they have to be specially built ones.

  • great video

  • :D Coool xD

  • why not bring up the entire ship with the technology we have now!!

  • it wouldnt be the same out of the water it would break into even more pecies even if we tryed and it already has fish and other things living on it

  • thats very true!!!

  • we dont have that kind of technology

  • what are you imagining i mean to use cranes helicopters and other equipment to bring it up!!

  • the technology can be developed but it would be extremely expensive. youd need a boat to lift it up, and the boat would have to be even bigger than the titanic which is extremely large. most sunken boat salvages end up breaking underwater anyways

  • What if the boat were to lift itself up?

What I am saying is placing some strategically placed air balloons to replace displace the water. I think some sort of Kevlar balloon would be needed. The hardest part would be to dislodge the ship from the sediment that has been built around and in the ship.

Once the ship is freed you would place exterior balloons around the hull to lift the ship to the surface.

What would you do with the ship afterward take it to a dry dock for a display?

  • its so rusted,it would probably fall to bits.

    :)

  • they had bits of it.. you could even touch the hull of the boat ( only like a two foot piece)

  • continue to examine and study it finding new artifacts and shit

  • itd be extremely difficult if even possible to bring it out of the water but it cant float due to sinking damage so i dont know where anybody would keep it

  • they could never do that its all in pieces and discintagrating( spelling) as we speak

  • FYI: Download Firefox because it has a built in Spell checker.

  • how does it work?

  • chrome does too

  • this is soo true there is tons of fish living in it and the sediment around it would be hard as rock to brake apart while the boat is sooo rusted it might desentigrate!!

  • since the titanic cut in half when it sunk it would be possible to use a smaller boat to lift it up and everyone here is soooo right the titanic is sooo rusted tying the chain around it that would lift it up my crack it in half untill it desentigrates!!

  • but maby queen mary can lift that thing up i mean marys HUGE!

  • @MovieMakingFan99 you know under that water you will be crushed flat in 0.2 seconds

  • @MovieMakingFan99 I ask the same everytime I see my teacher. :l I would really love to see the Titanic...

  • @MovieMakingFan99 cuz it is too delicate if they bring it to the surface it will collapse

  • @MovieMakingFan99 becouse it will fall apart,97 years is a long time =/

  • I have to watch that!!!!!!!!

  • could we have spent the money used to retrieve this ship on education instead?

i dont think this was a good investment..

  • They said they will never retrieve the ship. It is a memorial and would be disrespect to bring the ship up.

  • and it would technically be classified as grave robbing

  • how is it not a good investment? It's a part of history, and just a small part. we will never know all the stories that were, or could have been. just being able to get what they did was a great achievment, and if you don't like that, then you don't know what it was like on that ship, none of us do, but we who are interested in this stuff respect it, and don't need haters like you ruining the memory of those who died. so just fuck off.

  • Thats realy nice :D

  • That is amazing I would totally want to see that!!!!
