Well it looks REALLY GREAT but unlike DS,it has totally forgotten the "classicness" in it,which the DS Tried to achive.On The Other hand,Wii went STRAIGHT To Modern and forgot about the classic,I have the DS and might get the Wii version but i dont know

Man,go back to the 1980s times and look at how the Mario Brothers were in those days. They were so famous then as they still are today!!

wow...how unimaginative and boring...Nintendo didn't seem to put much effort into this game at all, it just looks like the old ones updated with a few different things added to make it look new and the graphics look pretty much like nothing better than a Gamecube game...

Yeah, Nintendo makes a brand new 2d mario platformer with the koopa kids, 4-player co-op, over 80 levels, secrets, and they didn't put much effort into it. Seriously how can you complain about this game? It's got everything a Mario game should have. And by the way the gamecube doesn't have enough processing power to run this.

I didn't see anything in that trailer that would push the gamecube to the limit. There were more complex scenes in Super Mario Sunshine. They could have made this game the previous console generation, easily.

No they couldn't. Theres too much happening at one time in the game (multiple players, powers, enemies,3d backgrounds) and the gamecube couldn't handle it without having the screen constantly lag. Miyamoto actually said they've tried multiplayer before, but it didn't work. So he said they used "the power of the wii" to make it work.

You've seen all the crazy crap that goes on in SSB:Melee and Pikmin 2, right? Four players with simplistic abilities does not require excessive amounts of processing power; neither do enemies, 3D backgrounds, and scrolling levels. It wouldn't have looked as pretty as it does on the Wii (par for the course with most GameCube games), but there's no technical reason they couldn't have done it.

What about motion control?  There's a lot of levels in here that use it - maybe about a third, I'd say?

I haven't played the game, but the GameCube controller had more buttons. I'd imagine that many of the functions motion control is used for (propeller cap, platform tilting, etc) could have been shifted to a different button or (gasp) taken out entirely. Nintendo has more than enough great ideas to fill the motion control gap and while the game would have been slightly different if released last generation, I can't say that I think it would have suffered much.

You'll also note that Miyamoto didn't actually say anything about the GameCube. Given Nintendo's insanely long experimental development cycles for their main franchise (Super Mario 128, anyone?) I'd wouldn't be surprised at all if they originally started development of the game on the 'cube.
