NBC PLEASE GET THE NBA BACK!!! ABC is not as good to rise the hype before a game.
This intro was 16 YEARS AGO, and being able to name almost all the players shown (even in background) makes me realize how much of a NBA freak I was back in the days, compared to now. I cant even name more than 1 player for some teams now,
Holy Shit!!! That was classic as hell! That has to be the greatest opening ever! Shawn Kemp swirling around the rim, Shaq sliding across the floor, that old school Karl Malone dunk, and then the Gorilla throwing it down! Shit yeah!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
wtf? Patrick Ewing ugly old ass dancing and smiling after the dunk over Mugsy Bogues? He looks like a retard out there. And I love the dunk of C-Webb over Barkley, that was classic.
Yeah, I knew this was from 1995, but I just remember that some of these scenes came from earlier years.
Two questions: Were all of the clips in this intro shown on NBC, and do you have any idea what the NBA on NBC intro looked like that season? (The long intro, I mean)
1. I don't think so, because I remember the Hawks/Bulls clip being from a WGN game. The others might be from NBC games, though. 2. Same general concept as the previous two years, but with the following players: Chris Webber Alonzo Mourning John Stockton Dikembe Mutumbo Dan Majerle Charles Barkley Horace Grant Michael Jordan The two clips are both from the Finals, I believe. One is Ewing hitting a jumper, the other is Olajuwon's spin move on Ewing in Game 3.
You wouldn't happen to have a video of that NBA on NBC intro, would you? Just curious...and if you do, there isn't a slight chance you could post it? Thanks, bud.
...and yes, that does come from a WGN game, because I saw that dunk in the video starks23 put on youtube.
I think the Barkley clip is from the 1993 NBA Playoffs (either games 2 or 5 that NBC televised), the Karl Malone clip is the one from around May 1990, when CBS still had the NBA) and the Payton-Kemp alley-oop came from the Warriors-Sonics game in the '92 playoffs on TNT.
the nba was so much more real back then..

OOOhhh man...the good old days!!!!!! Back when the real stars were men and didn't have to call up their buddies and make a "super team" (Mr. James)

I wish Champion still made the jerseys, way better than the Adidas ones are. Today's uniforms look like WNBA
TRJ22487 1 year ago
Classic, and intense. NBC did this intro so easily, and though ESPN and TNT can have similar intros, they don't even put the little work in.

Well this is the actual full length theme they would actually use in a game, but does anyone have just the audio and not all the background noise

Too much sensationalism now.Even then things were just about playing ball.ABC and ESPN are garbage at its best.

If I'm not mistaken, that clip of Charles Barkley comes from the 1993 Playoffs.
mackcrusher 3 years ago
You're right, but the actual Showtime intro is before a Heat/Magic game in 1995.
The Payton to Kemp clip is from the 1992 playoffs, and I believe the Karl Malone one is from the 1991 Playoffs.

Clip of Shaq sliding on his chest for the ball is from 92-93

Yeah, I figured that clip was before 1994, because I noticed Scott Skiles in the background.

@Pradamaster Do you know what the original extended intro was for the 1994-95 season before Michael Jordan returned?
