  • @Hickok45 No offense but you sound alot like George Bush at :41 when u said alcaida terrorest

  • I wouldn't trust you with a pen.

  • @GREATBRITISHGAMER You're a stupid kid. Your comment holds no value.

  • @lowsten Well it gets enough attention from you...

  • do you ever use the typical double barrelled shotgun? the ones used for game shooting etc.

  • Holy comments! Well, I hope noone has said this yet, but I recently read an article that quoted the FBI (fucking bunch of idiots), and they said that any shot less than #2 is not optimal for self defense due to its lack of penetration. They said that 6" or greater penetration is necessary to be effective, and that could only be achieved by large shot. This may not be true, hence the acronym...

  • Terrorist in my bedroom? wtf xD

  • I'm not sure agree, i get a pretty good spread from my trench gun at even 15 feet, but it has a 20" barrel and no choke at all.

  • You must not play with

  • Did you have a choke on that badboy?

  • Terrorist in the bedroom? Good night wife muhahahaha !!

  • What choke size are you using? Is it a full choke? I know I know that shotguns aren't impossible to miss with an whatnot, but this past weekend I tried at the range with a modified cylinder choke at about 15 yards and the spread opened up a bit more.

  • its a stupid and unreasonable fear

  • @thejoelmonkey Hes not really scared of that, he used that as an example. It's importent to keep our rights to bear arms to protect ourseleves you faggot

  • @thejoelmonkey what a typical ignorant fool. e have a thing called humor here in america. Spouting insults and using offensive language does not make you look a hole lot better than what your trying to portray anyway.

  • @thejoelmonkey, Sorry, I don't allow raving bigots to comment on my channel, at least more than once. Let's see, you hate "rednecks" and "hillbillies." You throw around the word "retarded." I'm sure being black or Jewish within your range would not be advisable either. It's been my experience in life that a bigot is usually a bigot clear to the bone.

  • @hickok45

People who are bigiots suck. Guns are for all Americans, not just rednecks. I hate being a yankee and i want to live down south so i can live a life like you. And people who hate other people for being different are really different down inside.

  • @hickok45 Good man right here! You tell em' hickok!

  • @thejoelmonkey Hickok was joking, just inserting some colorful terms. I don't think actually he fears Al Qaeda in his bedroom.. It was lost on you I see..

  • @thejoelmonkey Shut the fuck up man go take your meds, take a nap and then come back here and apologize to mother fuckin hickok45.

  • @thejoelmonkey No one likes you.

  • @thejoelmonkey You're just mad that you don't have any guns to defend yourself from terrorist because your government disarmed you. I'd rather be a "redneck" with a shotgun than a Australian kid with a nerf shotgun.

  • @thejoelmonkey for fuck sake , if you watch a couple of hickok45 vid , you would know he's joking . . . Cheers from canada.

  • were do you get this guns

  • @lucathegolfer In America, you can get almost anything with the right licensing and enough money. Most of the time, people go to gun shops/stores or order them online.

  • Being a competitive shotgun shooter....I get that a lot. Stuff like "How can you miss with a shotgun." and I know that up close the choke doesn't really matter...but just for the sake of argument....what kind of choke did you have in that Benelli???

  • I never thought about that ... but now before I go to bed I will watch under my bed if there is a Al Quaida Terrorist :-D.

Oh man ... hickok45 seems to have a little paranoia.

  • @quarantaene87 he was joking lol

  • hahaha al quaeda in the bedroom! love it!

  • A lot of fun to see this video. I love my Remington 870 and this is a good reason for a shotgun to be the home defense gun of choice. Having a Glock and an 870 with a light and defense plan would be a good start for any home invasion situation while you wait for the police to get there. One good thing to me is having a retreat site to defend in the home, knowing the police are on the way with the alarm, and hearing that pump sound may keep you safe and not have to fire if burglar has sense.

  • TÄMÄ kommentti on saanut liian Monta negatiivista ääntä piilota

  • @joku900 Funny LOL

  • @joku900 ookoo vittu sä oot sekasin :D

  • I love shooting and collect lots of guns... but if I came across an al quaeda terrorist I wouldn't waste the bullets on him. I got a nice serrated edge bowie knife that would make sure he felt it.... what? Revenged is a dish best served slow and painful :-)

  • @DyingToLive310 It's funny, because they would say the exact same thing about you for the exact same reasons.

  • @Nix6p To bad if they pick a fight with me.. I'll be the one walking away. and my reasons are cause a friend of mine died on 9/11 in the towers. I have never killed a single person in my life. America did... but I sure as hell didn't. And don't say well not all Al Quadea were involved in 9/11 cause all they care about is killing innocent people. So no they have no reasons to attack me. Think before you speak.

  • @DyingToLive310 With regards to your point "all they care about is killing innocent people [sic]",

I think you'll find that the killing of innocents is a means to an end, rather than an end unto itself.

  • what if i had an AA-12

  • i think a shorty 4 round shotty is the best for home defense, clearing rooms with a 20in barrel is next to impossible. especially quickly

  • well that is a pretty long shotgun, mine spreads 3-4x that much with birdshot at 10 feet but mine has an 8.5 inch barrel. while there is some truth to what you say, some shotguns actually do spread quite a bit at close distances.

  • I wish hickok45 was my grandpa ;-;

  • @Twisted4000 me too

  • If zombies invade the US hickok45 should protect one side and FPSRussia protect the other.

  • I'm sooo SICK of those Al Qaeda terrorists standing in my bedroom... im getting a shotgun. Thanks Hickok!

  • Whoops How is*

  • @TJ347, Clint Smith doesn't necessarily agree with you, but what does HE know. :-)

  • @hickok45 Its ok hickok. He probably wont shoot an intruder with his home defense weapon when he realizes that it has FMJs in it and not $5 per round super duper head exploding self defense hollow points. Cause we all know those fmjs are just crap plinker rounds... :-) (like birdshot is)

  • @TJ347 if one reads a comment like yours it can be quite annoying that while one is reading one of your comments one realises you dont know what you're about.

  • @shadowsteel5 "...one realises you don't know what you're about"... Yeah, that makes a whole lot of sense. By the way, I hope you're British or I'll have realized you can't spell. Nice effort trying to be a smart ass, minus the smarts. Have a great day.

  • @TJ347 Spelling? You're joking right, nothing in my comment was spelled incorrectly. You're just a fool who doesnt have a clue about what you're talking about. Go back under your rock. And i was illustrating your obvious failure to realise that saying "one" all the time doesn't make you clever.

  • @shadowsteel5 Nothing was spelled incorrectly except the word "realise"... That is, as I said, unless you're from the UK. Anyway, who ever said I was trying to sound clever? Seems you're doing a good bit of projecting there, your lordship. If you disagree with what I've said, fine, but to overanalyze it and comment based on things you think I was trying to infer makes you look like an ass. Talk about a fool living under a rock... How's that for clever?

  • @TJ347 Coming from the idiot who thinks birdshot is useless for home defence, you cant call anyone an idiot im afraid.

  • @shadowsteel5 Defence? I really do hope you're from the UK and not just being pretentious. Anyway, I never called you an idiot. Once again, you're reading more into things than is there, and having realized that this is a persistent problem for you, I'm done. Cheerio, old chap!

  • @TJ347 Inside a house birdshot will do the job, i use a number 4 turkey load and son, you don't want any of that.

  • @TJ347 How not birdshot not A defensive load? It will pretty much obliterate anything in its way, but wont go through 3 walls and accidentally kill someone.

  • @TJ347

lol, you think you could take multiple 12g 71/2 and keep coming? Yeah, come into my sisters house and we'll see.

I can't think of anyone who wants to be hit with ANY size shot. You may not die, but you won't be singing a happy song either. Get real.

    RedTSquared

  • @TJ347 have u even shot before? i use bird shot for home defense and its my first pick

  • @TJ347 then i hope you use birdshot

  • @TJ347 why pay more for rubber rounds when bird shot is more effictive and cheaper? plus you actually hurt the robber

  • @TJ347 who cares? if my home was invaded, i'd use anything that hurt. the more I could mutilate that robber, the better. No-one fucking tries to harm me or my family.

  • @sotemot I'd use anything that hurt too if I didn't have buckshot, but that wasn't the issue. Anyway, I've since deferred to all the shotgun experts commenting here, recognizing that they have much more experience than I do in the use of a shotgun. I mean, if occasional shooters say birdshot is an optimal defense load, who am I to argue? I'll just put my experience to the side and accept that these guys know better.

  • @TJ347 Well, I'm not saying it is an optimal defence load either. And if I happened to have buckshot, ofc I would have used that instead. Point is, I would use anything, and do as much damage as possible.

  • @sotemot

Or, rather, that's the popular idea that birdshot would limit collateral damage.

As this video clearly shows us, even with birdshot, it's a good idea to demonstrate discretion (fire only when necessary and if your sights are on target) and to always aim.

21 feet in a typical home is considerable distance, relatively speaking.

  • @TJ347 if the "robber" is "robbing" my house, i dont give a flying fuck what im shooting with. if i shoot you with a birdshot, your going down. no doubt. if your arguement is that its " uncivil" shooting him with so many pellets, then your dumb. im shooting to kill. doesnt matter what load im using. if you pull a gun, then your objective is to hurt and kill that person. not sure what your implying by using birdshot.

  • @oreowithmilk1

I think TJ347's implication is that using birdshot may be ineffective compared to, say, buckshot or slug.

He'd be right if we're talking about taking out a human target over a distance.

But a home invasion will likely involve close quarters fighting. Of course, at such short range, birdshot would be more than effective while limiting the risk of over-penetration, thus reducing the chance of inflicting collateral damage, particularly to people you did not intend to harm.

  • @TJ347

I wonder how anyone would look if they got a dose of birdshot from just a couple of feet away.

I don't care to visualize the outcome, but what I will say is that the robber's life would be below measurable limits.

  • What if it's a "Hong Kong" shotgun. You know, the one they use in all the John Woo movies. Those shotguns will explode small rooms right? For an example may I point you to the movie "Hard Target."

  • You need to load it with "humanitarian" shot for those Libyan type says Obama...

  • @yaahme you mean slingshots?

  • Damn! It's not like the shotgun in MW2 :(

  • @xKervz In real life you could probably kill someone from 50-60 yards (about 150-200ft) away with buckshot, but that's about the maximum effective range. You might be able to seriously hurt someone from 100 yards, but only if you fired several shots. If Call of Duty allowed this the shotgun would be the ultimate weapon, lol

  • Well the spread of the bullets also depends on the choke you have on the gun! Sawed off shotguns will have much more spread, but the full choke makes it so you can shoot much farther with the spread staying relativity condensed.

  • @Caleb12top Barrel length has very little effect on spread.

  • @jerseyemt umm yes it does? shorty barrels tend to spread quicker. but the shorter the barrel the closer the intended range, so it cancels out. chokes fix any issue though.

  • @jimmyhoffa9 No it does not. A short barrel has very little to no effect on spread until you make it so short as to significantly affect the muzzle velocity. But we are talking about around 7" or shorter, much shorter than most so-called "sawed-off" shotguns. Even a 9" short barrel isn't going to have a much larger spread compared to the minimum legal 18" barrel.

  • 7 dislikes and 600 likes! WIN!

  • Actually, I have terrorists in my room quite often. Of course, I usually invite them there first...perhaps it's impolite to do so?

  • use a sawed off shotgun

  • OMG hickok i saw a zombie behind you be more careful if you need me to come to tennessee and help you hunt him down i'll help you

  • I've noticed that the Fed 71/2 rounds are actually pretty accurate for bird shot. They are kind of slow at 1200 fps but the spread is manageable up to like 250 meters. Better than usual.

  • Excellent point Mr. Hickok45!

  • were you using full choke?

  • hickcok45 does the choke at the end of the barel really helps the spread or grouping???or is it just a lie???

  • @carloz562 Wow.

  • keep up the good work. but don't forget a sbr shot gun it will have a litte more spreed.

  • Different length different spread that barrel looks longer then a 20 in so the grouping would be slight tighter vs an 18 in barrel

  • Excellent, glad someone pointed this out ^-^

  • i see alot of people are having the same al quaeda problem that i have.... these mousetraps just dont cut it anymore.. i need one of these SHOTGUNS

  • @cbhsfob theres a weapon thats tried and true and endorsed by one of the most badass people in history, so badass this weapon is often named after them.. the viking 2 handed axe. a danish longaxe has often a 6 foot pole. with what is pretty much a meat cleaver on it.

  • i have been told by self proclaimed experts that birdshot, @ across the room distances, is not a reliable stopper due to inadequate penetration. i initially scoffed at this notion. i wouldnt have considered this point worth mentioning, but the opinion was shared by a surprising percentage of the population of one gun message board that i frequently read and post at. there must have been 30-40 ppl there that all quite aggressively stood their ground when i voiced critisism. what thinks you?

  • @flyinbryan1619 its bull it may not kill you but it would be bad and youd probably be down

  • @krispy022 i completely agree. i was a little shocked to see so many saying it was not a reliable stopper. In my opinion, to be honest, a single shot from across a normal sized bedroom to center mass would almost certainly be lethal, and surely drop an intruder like a bad habit. its just too much energy, too much shock, too violent....... some said a bad guy all pepped up on goofballs would wade right thru it....... i just cant see it.... ive seen 7 1/2 puch right thru 1/2" plywood.

  • I have those exact same ear muffs....good stuff...

  • HE AINT HAPPY.....

  • Now I have 101 reasons that a Shooter game is fake :3

  • im glad your adressing this issue. my friend is one of those people woh think you dont have to aim at all. maybe i should take him out trap shooting sometime!

  • you know if you go north there are a lot less zombies just the occasional one disguised as your neighbor ;-) but we do get terrorists of all sorts and this was very helpful

  • Will a shorter barrel cause the shot to spread out more and create a larger pattern ?

  • Good video with useful information. Please keep it available. Some people have mistakenly focused on the "particular terrorist name" used. Actually, life is sometimes like a whack-a-mole game except --- it's for real.

One problem "pops up" and it gets whacked. Shortly there after, another problem "pops up" and needs to be whacked.

We are blessed in the USA in that the cops do most of the whacking of villains. Sometimes, we are on own and need to do the whacking ourselves.

  • I appreciate you posting this video, Hollywood and videogames have taught non-shooters a lot of ridiculous misinformation, and now one more topic is put to rest.

  • I would probably faint at first glance if I walked in and saw your weapons armory.

  • @oldschoolcommy man if i was able to see hickok45's armory id would be like a kid in a candy shop!

I want to shoot this one and this one and this one, oh and that one!

  • @dudewtf1776 haha too right man I feel the same way

  • I usually take out that terrorist with my .303 brit.

  • Hickok, did you originally cut down those trees for your shooting range clearing or did they just eventually splinter them all away?

  • All you need to know for your daily bedroom terrorist pests!

  • Ive proven that missing with a shotgun isnt impossible so many times when skeet shoting and duck hunting

  • that's a hell of lot bigger hole than a rifle or pistol...good shooting, though.

  • Good video, too many call of duty livers thing that a shotgun is only capable of a 5 foot kill range and a 13ft spread.

  • If you need high spared at close range use a very open chock and a front plug in the round. Also don’t use a cupped wad as this guy did as its intended to reduce the spared. So is a bit counterproductive for this type of thing. The other way is to use three types of shot in one cartage. Say No:6 behind No:3 behind SG. These three seemed to pack well together if memory serves me.

  • @tina6581 just get a mossberg 590 ... no choke, and you can mount a bayonet

  • @aseglkj I want to be on your side please. Lol :-)

  • What type of choke do you have in that shotgun?

  • Sorry Hickok45, but the chances of an al-qaida terrorist being in your house is the middle of the night is very slim.

  • @DaveScott69, Happens in Tennessee all the time! :-)

  • @hickok45 maybe Davescott sees a lot of Taliban instead

  • @hickok45 Not to mention those damned zombies.....To davescott69, i think the part of your brain that processes sarcasm is malfunctioning.

  • @hickok45 I agree that most people probably have the misconception they simply do not have to aim a shotgun and it will clear an entire room.

That being said, a shotgun is much easier to aim than a handgun, and far superior in a self defense situation (in close quarters) to a rifle, even with as little spread as it has.

Handguns are HARD to master, lots of practice required. Almost anyone can fire a handful of shotgun shells in practice and remain fairly confident of a 5 yard shot.

  • @hickok45 haha I like the way you so smoothly knock back all the pointless, stupid comments about the likely hood of terrorists blah blah blah...Great video too, thanks

  • @hickok45 are you in tennessee? just wondering 'cause i'm moving there

  • @TehBloodyYank556 well that will drop the state's IQ by 50%, you sure you want 'em to know you're coming?

  • @mrbadx19 i don't think so im kind of a smarterer personz phor mai ayj.

  • @hickok45 in that case it may be time to move lol

  • @hickok45 Florida too lol

  • @DaveScott69 It's a joke do to the shitty times we live in.

  • @DaveScott69 The chances of an Al-Qaida terrorist being in your house in the middle of the night is not very slim. Its astronomically Improbable. You have a better chance of being infiltrated by a flesh eating virus. The odds are around 1 in google².

  • @DaveScott69 Do you have a sense of humor?

  • @DaveScott69

I think it's called "hyperbole" and Hickock seems to specialize in it.

  • @DaveScott69 yeah he's right, I visited once and every bloody night there was an Al Qaida terrorist in my hotel room! lol ;)

  • @DaveScott69 Never say never. Don't know what will come of 2012 but WWIII is getting mighty close. You can thank Obama for it.

  • @Primal67060 more like cival war 2

  • @futuresolider96 thats a pretty good book.

  • @DaveScott69 you never know it could happen at any time

  • @DaveScott69 hence the jokearoo.

  • @DaveScott69 You're right Dave. They might go to other houses but they're sure as heck not going to Hickok's house.

  • Too many folks think you need OO or OOO for inclose home defence. You see the primary impact size from 7.5 bird? Looks to be about three inches across.

  • What choke do you have on that ? Seems like a pretty tight pattern.

  • Oh crap. a terorist in my room again? well the phones dead so no 911. i guess it's lock and load.....DIE SONS OF BITCHES MUAHAHAHA

  • Haha! Al-quaida terrorist in your bedroom...

  • Great video- per the usual. Thanks!

  • 7 people were Al Quida terrorists standing at 15 feet

    --

I love these videos keep it up!

  • i think you made your point. thanks,, nice vid

  • its terrible those alkhidas are everywhere

  • That is with birdshot, spread with combat rounds keeps as tight for a bit longer distance. I got a shotgun and people believes that from the movies... You could perfectly not aim and miss totally a goblin at a pretty shor range and end up bagged and tagged.

Most of this miths come from movies, shotguns ARENT easy weapons!

    Good video

  • i thought that was a china lake without the sight lol

  • 7 1/2 shot, the kind I like

  • this is a really helpfull video, i cant tell you how many times ive woken up in the middle of the night and a terrorist was in my room.

  • @TheDaniel13761 , Since you are able to post here, I'm assuming you came out on top each time. Congratulations! :-)

  • @hickok45 At close range a rifle might be considered the same way (easier to aim and stay competent with at short range) but I personally don't want to fire my 7mm mag at the bad guy, go thru him, and kill the neighbor next door thru his bathroom wall :)

LOL@ everyone getting bent out of shape at the terrorist comment.. he is obviously referring to ANY dirtbag subhuman that would break into your house and put you and your family in danger. Al qaida, zombie, its all the same.

  • And if you think that it can't happen to you (not in YOUR fancy neighborhood, right?) so you would never need to plan to defend yourself, your exactly the kind of person Mr. bad guy (zombie, terrorist, whatever) is looking for.

Kinda along the lines of having a sign in your yard stating "I'm a firm believer in gun rights... but my neighbor isn't" :)

  • @TheDaniel13761 You should call an exterminator if you see that many terrorists in your room. Are you leaving food around, or perhaps gun powder? Terrorists are just as attracted to gun powder as they are food. Make sure that you store all food and gun powder in sealed containers.

  • @ArtemiaSalina lmao, dont forget to clean your room very well because they also like to dwell in crevaces and dark areas

  • @TheDaniel13761 its helpful here in Iraq!

  • Haha on the last 2 shots the wads went through the paper on the right side

  • is anyone here a target undertaker because we gotta dead target here... just saying

  • what about without the choke and what about a less powerful charge?

  • this is true but anybody who thinks that way is a moron.

  • can you do a test like this with balistics jell or something and some clothes over it

  • Hmm I wonder if a choke would have a big effect on the spread? I don't know too much about shotguns though haven't used them much and I don't own one. But if anyone on youtube knows more about this I would love to know your thoughts.

  • Birdshot isn't something I'd use to defend myself with. I saw it messed up that zombie, but rotting flesh isn't as tough as living flesh.

  • @AngeredKabar dude birdshot is perfect for home defense. Contrary to what you might think, birdshot will ruin a face, and is lethal on bodyshots. A bigger plus for bird shot is that it wont go though 2 layers of sheetrock making you loved ones down the hall or in the next room safe (safer) against collateral damage.

  • Hey Hickok,

Thanks a lot for your feedback and for posting these videos. They are very informative:)

Have you ever shot an Ithaca 37 defense with the 5 or 8 shot capacity? Just want to know what your experience has been with those. More specifically with how one port does loading and unloading. Any problems with this design?

  • Because I usually don't hit 25/25 clay pigeons when trap shooting, I too know that Shotguns can miss. :P

  • Wow!...I was ejamacated on that myth. Neve shot a shot gun and would have thought the spread was waaay wider.

  • Good video! I would like to see a 00 buck and a long range slug video please! Keep up the great work!!!!!

  • do you trap shoot

  • Keep on doing what you are doing hickok45. Great stuff. Is that Wild Bill Hickok?

  • Can you do one about how a shotgun can "blast someone in half" if it has a short barrel? I hear that all the time but I have a feeling it's a myth. Especially if the velocity doesn't change. I understand the spread would be more but it just doesn't seem to add up.

  • @anikinippon You would be really lucky to remove a limb let alone sever a torso...

  • Fantastic stuff you are doing Hickok. I have a Rem 870 20 gauge with #3 buck in it. What would you estimate the comparison (in spread) to be? Would you keep the buck shot or 7 1/2 loads for home protection? Thanks again and keep up the good work.

  • your right lots of people over estimate the spread of a shot gu from just ten feet...its a good educatinal clip too

  • i think you killed it.

  • Very interesting and revealing video, although isn't that dependant on the choke?
