Thats the point of the Caleb series. In the begining he sees a woman who resembles his former love, and hes explaining how he's shy but wants her to see him. The end of this chapter shows him becoming more dangerous, and then Dont Say a Word is when he relizes what he's done and has to see it through to the end.
