  • In my opinion, it's okay that this doesn't have that much growl because it IS an acoustic bass. I think it's gunna be my next investment :D

  • Man you're good.

  • You outcold!!!!!! lol Im on 28 seconds in the video lol and I loved it!

  • Straight neck?...why was mine "w" shaped? =/

  • @ TomBoumBam

Why not? It's only a matter of sound. But it's not dangerous or something like that.

You can also play a acoustic guitar with pickup system on a guitar amp.

There are some special amps for acoustic instruments, but if you already own a bass amp with a good clean-sound - you can use it.

    Slap on,

    Ferret

  • Can we play an acoustic bass on an amp made for electric bass?

  • idk where to put my settings at! i tried putting them all in the middle like you and my amp starts screaming

  • @fasteddie720 why do u need an amp, lol acoustic is kinda there for a reason, i keep mine bass 2/5 mid 3/5 and treble 4/5 and volume about half, but i seldom use an amp

  • @roamerreed like he said in the video the acoustic settings aren't very loud

  • @fasteddie720 if it's got a natural finish it's a tid bit louder, mine is fairly loud, i overpower my friend's acoustic when i play softly

  • @chopapits he is playing I want you back by Jackson five , its a good song to play on bass

  • animal friendly nuts.

  • wow a straight neck i dident know guitars had those!!

  • @vincentjanse lmao

  • what is he playing at the first??

  • @chopapits I Want You Back - The Jackson Five

  • owen youve helped me so much, your review of the squier jag bass special convinced me to buy it, you were soo right, i couldnt be happier

  • what is he playing around 3 minutes?

  • Say his name really fast loads of times.

    Tongue Twister.

    BAM!

  • @TheBillStickers Shit! lol Get's kinda hard. lol

  • Hey Owen, I realize that this is an old video but you know your stuff so I'll ask. I've got one of these, but the electric function is, well... broken, and I'm 99.9% sure that the battery holder isn't making contact. Are you aware of any places I can buy just a new holder? I've had it a couple years and electric broke just after a year, I have a beautiful Schecter Stiletto Extreme 4 for electric but recently had the urge to plug the AEB in. Thanks Owen, cheers from Canada.

  • I want one!!!!!!

  • The face at 3:01

  • FANTASTIC song to open with. One of the best bass lines there is. Jackson 5 FTW!

  • 4:45 animal friendly alternative nuts.......xPPPPPP

  • i love this bass but your right it does have a spots where its kind of ruff

  • i love this bass

  • I bought one of these in 2003, just before they introduced the one with built-in tuner. (Figures, right?? Heh.) Anyway, this thing is my Warhorse, because the piazzo (SP?) pickup puts out enough juice that you can do small gigs, open mic nights and others without an amp. Just plug it into the PA-I've had sound guys yelling at me to turn it down before I blow out the board, and the volume was only halfway up. Also great for camping and stuff. Great bass.

  • AAAARRRGGGHHHHHHH that's soo annoying!!!! his bass string is slightly out of tune...... GRRRRRRRRRRR

  • @TheN1ff ooh yeh that's annoying :P

  • is this good for beginners?

  • What is the song that he is playing, it sounds like a song to me

  • @ReaperDahBassist its- i want you back by the jackson 5

  • I want you back! :D

  • that almost looks like my Takamine acostic bass O.O

  • It rattles T.T

  • It not always the bass, it's the strings, amplification and the way you play or pluck it. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes down to choosing their instrument for the type of sound they are looking for. You should always test and find what's best to your ear specification and not others. I hated my bass for a minute when I got it home. I then realized that my amp wasn't set right like the sound that I heard in the store. I fell in love again after some serious adjustments.

  • Great informative review

  • I just bought this bass today! I love it to death!

  • @Childinfaith mines giving me problems, buzzing on the 12th fret..im not really liking it, so i named it after my ex girlfriend

  • @razielct

Must be your particular guitar. I haven't had any buzzing on any frets that is a significant problem. In fact I bought this bass instead of a number of other acoustics due to the fact it was the only one with hardly any fret buzz.

  • @Childinfaith Thats really ironic, well i think there might be some extra glue underneath the fret causing it to buzz, and i might file it down, or call guitar center

  • COUNRTY OF ORIGIN BUILT ?

  • I don't think I would have bought it

  • Where do you put your right thumb while playing?

  • @squiresuzuki on most acoustic basses you gotta learn to 'float' your thumb.

  • hello you should do a review on a Washburn Acoustic/Electric Bass AB10 if you can please and thank you

  • If you were to get this bass you would need one of those soundhole covers, lots of feedback without cover when pluged in.

  • Great review, horrible bass.

This thing sounds like it's dieing.

  • Holy cow... that's my ibanez guitar as a bass!

It comes as a Acoustic 6 string, 12 string, bass, and classical guitar! Its awesome....

  • Hi owen nice job about the information... i just got one of this basses and i like it so much but something got me in doubt... why the two first strings are louder or have more gain than the other 2 string the fat ones..?? at first i tought that the bass needed a new strings so i changed the and surprise the sound its the same the thiner strings have more gain than the others. so what can i do ??? would you tell me abuot this.. thanx owen omalley

  • where's the pickup?

  • Love that line at 4:16

  • @bmigga i friggin dig it! that was teh most insnaely hilariously lovely line ever played on an acoustic ibanez bass!

  • I have the lesser-advanced model of this, without the tuner, and only the standard jack. But, I have to say, that thing is a goddamn warhorse, whether for for open-mic type events where you don't want to drag a whole amp to, or just outdoors camping, playing by the fire. I've had sound guys yelling at me to turn it down before I blow the whole PA system out, and the volume's only halfway up. :)

  • jackson 5 yeah!

  • why there is always idiot to say bad things about bass? ¬¬ grow up you fucker...

  • that's my bass

  • whats the differance between an aeg and an aeb

  • @vagabond791 AEG is guitar, AEB is bass.

  • Hooper, what are ya playin for??

Man the wheel now. Starboard, Hooper!

  • The acoustic body has horrible tone... its simply to small to give off any decency.

Dean acoustic basses sound way nicer.

  • @NicholasGreen91 Deans are horrible basses ive never played one with a decent fretjob and ive played quite a few, likewise with their guitars.

they really just throw the things together with no attention to detail.

  • does the black version get finger prints on it becasue i hate cleaning that stuff over and over

  • yes because its a gloss version.

  • What would you guys say about the Ibanez AEB5E? I see it's atleast half the price of the 10E, so would it be good for a beginner who's looking to learn with it?

I've been looking, and all I see are videos about the AEB10E.

  • what was the song he was playing in the beginning? I remember that song...huh.

  • it's 'i want you back' by the jackson 5

  • I preety sure its "ABC" by the Jackson 5, it sounds like that.

  • He's wrong about the saddle...the nut and saddle on all Ibanez acoustics are made of Ivorex II, and it's even harder than bone. The quiet midrange and heavy bass are because of the mahogany body.

  • I have an acoustic-electric guitar (Prince). And my friend lend me an amp he bought with the a guitar pack (Washburn). Will the amp work with the acoustic, I mean does it use the same wire as the electric does?

  • Yes but the pickups are usually different but it should sound ok as long as you dont use overdrive

  • Yeah the +15 Tone (Overdrive) sucks l shit. But it's good.

  • Acoustic guitars and basses sound best through acoustic amps, because amps for electric bases color the sound more

  • Well I got my amp for free, so I don't want to buy a new one. It's a Washburn, for electric-guitar.

  • nice! i like the fact that you were playing i want you back at the start!

  • the spruce is not solid top. it's a laminate...

  • He says it's not an exciting acoustic tone?

  • To combat feedback, the Ibanez "AE" series acoustic guitars and basses don't have much body resonance. The upside is that you can dial the sound way up on stage with no problem. Using brighter strings might help.

  • ... That's what I'm talking about... I need one to play unplugged... I'm getting my brains fried with this shit. Can you help me indicating some, please?

  • Acoustic bass guitars weren't designed to play gigs without some kind of amplification. Nevetheless, Martin makes some that really project without help. Look for anything with a low-gloss high-resonance finish and a large, soft solid wood or carbon fiber top.

  • You can plug into a PA system or use an amp, just be aware that an amp designed for electric instruments (magnetic pickups) is going to give you a less than natural sound.

  • i like that James Jamerson right at the beginning

  • an unplugged acoustic-electric bass is louder than a unplugged electric bass, right?

  • yes definitely.

  • yh it wud b

  • dumbass

  • Comment removed

  • why?

  • because its called acoustic bass for a reason of course it sounds more than an solid electric bass

  • Dude, obviously... -.-''. I'm going to buy it to play unplugged

  • name song plis!?¿

  • i want you back jackson 5

  • i have this bass and i fucking love it

  • Is it good unplugged?

  • I've had one for 2 weeks and I love it. Your finger or picking technique definitely helps the volume keep up with an acoustic guitar. It gets plenty loud enough if you bash it, thumb slap and finger pop it. The down side to that is you need a good clean technique to keep the sound from getting "mushy" I think it'll make me a better Bass player.

  • How is it unplugged?

  • Would playing with a pick help keep up with an acoustic guitar?

Acoustic basses always have trouble in acoustic jams.

  • Very Useful video, After months Seeing it at the store display, I am Buying one this week.

    Thanks!!!

  • introspective - inspecting within; seeing inwardly; capable of, or exercising, inspection; self-conscious.

when you play acoustic basses are you are more in tune with what you are actually playing. the bass frequencies become more natural and part of you as they resonate against your body through the instrument...

  • I'd just like to add that if your electric bass is good, you can also very much feel the resonance through the wood to your body.

  • good video but intro needs an update

  • I wish they would put that headstock back on their electric basses.

  • Another great demo by the amazingly talented Owen O'Malley! Keep up the great work guys :-)

  • acoustic basses are very introspective.

  • what does introspective mean?

  • lol

  • a new word he just learned:D

  • 1st view AND post! I win!

Ahem...that's a nice bass i need to get me one of those! Nice playing there!
