  • wow..JUST WOW!!

  • i have gone to that place some times.its awesome

  • Lovely upload. Really nice to see someone enjoy himself singing a tagore classic. Fact of the matter remains when drunk a man speaks his heart. And if our protagonist here is singing this after a few shots ... it just shows his love for this masterpiece.

  • @45ranaghat since when did neil diamond become french ?and thats neil btw.......

  • Onek din pore ami chobita dekhte parchina! kintu oke bhalobashi. Apu French Bond, the singer.

  • OMG...ITS FANTASTIC!

  • French guyer ultodike Santanu - Kintu Guyti ke? Bangaalider sekha uchit eke dekhe. When we are going for the rocks they are heading for our shores.

  • Wonderful!! This guy sings it much better that lots of us. Hardly matters whether he was drunk or sober. To all u Naysayers and Dharohars of Robi thakur-- all i can say is Salute the guy's spirit, instead of where he was sitting in at the time. I am just so happy he chose to sing Gurudeb's song .

  • This shows that music really doesn't have any barrier! ♥

  • thx for dis ........its one of mah fav

  • thanx 4 this video.........it makes us proud as an indian as as a bengali...

  • that oly pub

    love the place

  • thanx, 4 this video, itz a wonderful gift....

  • Father Banas, an American priest who taught us English at Notre Dame College Dhaka was an accomplished Rabindrasangeet singer. He even performed on Dhaka TV..his rendering of Ebar to mora gang e ..and Anandoloke mongol aloke with piano accompaniment was superb.

  • oshadharon...

    at Oly Pub

  • iss er por keu bong connection gai?

  • incredibly beautiful

  • I like the Video really Excillent

  • OLYPUB!!!!! What a setting! Tremendous!

  • asadharan...nice one dude

  • Wonderful.....thank you sir...for this fine presentation....

  • Hey..... this is the gr8 Olypub in Kolkata.....

  • can he really understand bengali, just for curiosity, dnt mind anything. anyway he sang very very well.

  • pronunciation is correct typical bengali dialect

  • what is the language ? where is it ?

  • whoz this dude

  • kharap na...

  • God bless him....

  • he rocks

  • How wonderful !

  • we wish we knew what yu were singing... ps. im from canada ehh !!!!!!!!!!!!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew , right on man .

  • A great poet does not belong to any particular community,he belongs to the whole world. bengalis should be proud that a frenchman did a good job which many bengalis will not be able to do.

  • is it ISI campus ??

  • glad u liked d vid. anusrim am not damien. n to d ppl who thnk its a drunkards place... it was afternoon n most ppl were having beer... dere were two drunk men n it does not include damien :P

  • I can only say wow............i am a bengali and you sang as good as me.

  • I certainly dont feel its blasphemous to sing Tagore in a bar being drunk. On the contrary, those Robindro-evangelists who think tagore shud be sung in a strereotypical way in claustrophobic stages, with harmonium & esraj and some pseudo intellectuals nodding just to show class w/o even understanding a bit of it are being blasphemous to the spirit of tagore music. Tagore music is an expression & if someone is expressing that when drunk, hey thts the triumph of the great old wizard of words!

  • @dibsrocks Very well put.......Hope many more Bangalees come to your way of thinking.......

  • I wud agree with Sid that an Indian singing a french song in a French pub will never be acknwlgd this way bcoz those folks r not mentally open. Thats their problem. We r Indians & hv always been moved by acts of heart, warmth & spontaneity. Lets leave aside racist idealism and enjoy the spirit of the guy.

  • I can see a few of my friends behind & with Damien & feel they were privileged that night @ Olypub. Try to broaden ur mind, fellers. I can bet my life Olypub wud hv given the same response to a Nigerian singing the same song. So its not abt kissing the white butt. Its abt the thrill that one gets if a person frm a diffrnt culture, diffrnt country, diff language speaks, sings or recites ur language. And it needs cultural maturity & tolerance to accept it which bongs hv in loads. Way to go Damien!

  • You know- I can't imagine this happening anywhere but Kolkata. :)

  • Manav, I am sorry to have to point out that you are wrong, in this instance. It happens in Athens as well as in Tokyo when you sing a song in the local language (from my personal experience).

Incidentally I have an Italian friend, who knows more Tagore than I know Montale. Strange isn't it?

  • hey frankvictoria its really amazing to c sum 1 of a diff. culture sing my language!! u've done a very good job of singing, ur pronunciation , tone, voice modulation ...amazing!!!! hats off!!!!

  • I simply call it the fascinations with a white skin. I hope you are subjected to the racism that the white skin subjects the colored skin. Then shall I see if you maintain this all accepting attitude. We Indians are very proactive at absorbing such appreciations forgetting the needless harrasment and torment faced by us Indians. I absolutely appreciate your view and all I can hope is world can have more people like you who do not care abt color and race....cheers!!!

  • Good for u........and I hope I can be exposed to other parts of the world as u have been..I am sure u are in freakin amazon in the midst of cannibal pygmies writing this comment as ur last wish...haha.........I 'm kidding........I give a rat's ass to which whore sings robindro songeeet..........Just ignore what all I've written so far...............so amar kotha jole phellam.........joye phrench baba ki...........tomar choron dhuli kothaye...baah ki gaan korle o bondhu!!!

  • He is no Frenchman! A Bengali bloke!

  • you are welcome missingrose21. and as for himanqwert..mayb he dint kno d significance of rabindrasangeet. but he dint learn just one song. he sang 'phagun haway haway' b4 this song ,but we cudnt capture it as we dint expect it. :P

  • What language is that?

  • bangla

  • look , you neither have to be very pleased or to violently criticize this frenchman...whatever you say, good or bad,the fact is that you came to watch this out of curiosity , right? no french would ever check the video named "a bengali singing french song"...we are bengalies, we are curious,we worship white ppl..thats true, but its also true we r capable of kicking all the butts(including white)in the world..so,calm down,he may not know significance of rabindrasangeet,if so, that explains it

  • Dude this is in the famous Olypub in Kolkata!

  • nice one! ignore the haters. they take thing too seriously lol

  • u ppl dont get d real point of it. point is its good to see how our culture is spreadin.

  • @frankvictoria hello

  • whts the point? who cares if a French or Dutch guy sings a Bengali song? Why do we still have the tendency to kiss a white butt? Why we still can't get rid of the years of colonial habit? The people who put this video are definitely the children of those people who used to suck the rear ends of the white Lords during the colonial period, while sticking their tails in between their legs for the white bosses.

  • i really agree with you!!!

  • my god u cant accept somethn nice! n paromita its a pub in cal

  • i did not like the drunkbungs... I think them as the supreme intellicoes.. here they r drunk..I guess they r college kids..

  • Is this video for real? And that doesn't look like a french pub to me..however,if its real,my hats off to the singer... many Bengalis can't pronounce bengali words so well..Bravo!!

  • Praising the French guy for what? Is it for one foreigner 'singing' a Rabindrasangeet? Damn it! It's a testimony of how some drunken idiots are just spoiling our culture in a pub.

  • I agree.

  • Damn, this French dude gots some skill. Fantastic pronounciation.

  • But they still make a spoof out of us Indians and on the other hand a French or a German or an italian are never ridiculed even though they speak 'NOT THAT GOOD' english. This video is definately a good one and a rare one. But all that I'm forced to think is......when would this respect be mutual in a situation otherwise. Anyways...that's all a spill out play of my amour propre.....Nice to see this video again!!

  • well I agree with you kekekeke81......we usually are very warm in welcoming others with open arms in such a situation and a French guy singing in Bengali is definately a rarity whih is why I see this video so ofthen. But somehow I feel that the respect needs to be mutual which I do not find. Just consider the Indian spoofy accent being made a fun topic in the english movies. No one ever thinks that this is not their mother tongue and they have not lived in US for most of their lives.

  • v. nice - good accent too. his ex-girlfriend taught him well :)

  • Iam tempted to say fantastic...the folks sitting next to the white guy were so happy seeing him sing Robondro Songeet...everypne joined in. I wonder what kind of reaction would an Indian guy have gotten if he/ she'd have sung a french classic in a french restaurant.....I donno. But look at us, ekta gora sahab ke bangla gaan gaute dekhe sob kotaa chute geyechey!!!! Key jaaney ko desi or jagaye thakle kotoi baa reaction peto. The skin color makes such a differnce. However it was a nice rendition!!

  • i think u r a case of self hating inferiority complex laden pity seeking who consider himself as smart

here is a reality chek fr u

    ur no smart

if a indian sing a english song in usa /or fench in france

or russian in russia wudnt get tht much reaction

    # reason its nt surprizing

    # you will never find a bar where every single1 knows a song by heart

if a indian goes to vietnam sings a very well known songs he will get tht much respect u can bet on this

    n ur a son of a bitch

  • i always find som khankir pola

will say somthin to ruin some1 's fun

i know ur male servant annaly abused you whn u were very young

but why spreding ur suffering to us

  • Buddy, I did not abuse any one. I did not bad mouth anyone. I f you need to show your support to the french guy do it decently. You seem to have quite a nice idea of being abused in the childhood, so keep your fantasies to yourself. I am not going to retaliate to your thoughtless words. If you are so intolerant to someone sharing their thoughts then God save you

  • And don't go calling me adjectives. If you want to get into an ugly verbal duel I am all for I'd say not to spoil this page with obnoxious verbal diarrhoea. So you you ugly mother fucking piece of sonagachi slut cunt shit. Private message me for the rest...I'll show you some old school surgapur shibpur lingo!!!

  • realllyy fantasticccc

  • or may be the other way...
