Wow Viki is beautiful with colour and markings. Sad to hear how they passed on, but having had ratties for Ten years myself, I know that sometimes it's kinder to them. I hope you get more ratties in the future :)
@kkhaco I never potty trained them but they learnt that themselfs after sometime.When they were young they wee on me to make me smell like them and it was every single time they have been out of the cage.Once they became adults they stopped that.
I really want a rart or a mouse which one is better? I already have two cats and i have a room space for them somewere high the measurments are 21 inches wide, and 18 inches high. Is that enough? if not whats the right space. also i am not sure if they sell them here but they do seel mice for 3$ each. how much would a rat be?
@Footphobics01 Check my other video u should be able to see what size of the cage I had for them.Rats need space and cage of the size I had for 2 of them was just enough.If u dont have enough room than I suggest mice to begin with.Remember that rodents love to have buddy so when u buy some make sure u get 2 and best if the same sex ( I always had females).I had mice before but they live much shorter than rats Usually getting some king of tumour at some stage of their life but are adorable :)
I had two male rats myself and they died about a year ago. They were so special to me that I swore I wouldn't get any more, but they left such a hole in my heart that when I saw the ones I have now in the pet store window I knew it was meant to be. I hope when I die I get to see them again. I have never stopped missing my Rico and Domino and completely feel sympathy for your loss.
@fieryimpassion I think once u had ratties in your life u know how very social and entertaining they are that after grief is over u just want to have new ones.We will get new ones when my baby girl will be big enough to understand that they are animals :)
i had a dog ,kuno, who we had to put down, but it was for the best because he went blind and before the doctor said somthing may be wrong with his teeth because he was not eating so when we put him down he had no teeth, was blind, and could not hear that well. when i came home from school my mom said they put him down. :(
@toriangel290 Choco had tumour of the size of a big apple but she wasnt in pain and she died from really quick hearth attack , but Vicky was much weaker and her eyes and nose startred to bleed heavily at some point so we decided to put her down to sleep as that was the most humanitarian way to let her leave.Really sad.When Vicky died I just had my baby girl born and so we didnt buy baby rats because they need loads of attention and I couldnt give it to them.

I have 2 5 week old male rats and theyre lovely. I've had them for about 3/4 days now and they are still very shy but they take food off from me and they're already going to the toilet where ive been potty training them. Theyre so scared of loud noises though so they can get scared of me! How did you let yours run all over the room without them running away? I get scared if i open my gate and it climbs out of it, but i guess they are only babies! i'm having trouble getting to hold them though

is it possible to potty train rats? when they are roaming freely in the room would they do their "private business"?

nope not really.they used to wee a bit to mark me with their smell but now less and less.they tend to mark your hands and no furniture.
