anyway, he was a jerk, we all know, but for protecting the performer, if you tun the guitar in drop d, the e string can really slowly get higher, back to e(unless you've got FR) or the other problem can be (ic ant realy recognize the exact problem) the trussrod is too tight or loose and it can be bad on higher frets
