Would have been cool if the size of your creature was of influence on the numbers.. F.e. If you make a HUGE beast it will be strong but needs tons of food, so you can only have small numbers in a colony and viva versa. I would love to see hundreds of ant-like creatures overwhelm a huge one! :D

Seriously, look at the creature phase, you're protecting your eggs, creatures seem to walk around wildly, you do NOT have to become the top predator or most succesfull animal, you may have to run sometimes, and that's just the creature phase!

Ubisoft and EA seem to be doing okay when dealing with DICE, but Spore wasn't made by maxis, large sections of Maxis were replaced by EA's staff the longer Maxis were involved.

I do wish they had: blood (but not as much as the 2005 demo had mabye a little less), more realistic sounds, The old stat system, slightly better animations, and the flora editor and underwater stuff.

Things Im glad they added: a lot of textures, few glitches, size of the galaxy, that they didn't scap as many things as people think, no city stage.

seriously they nerfed it to make it a little more kid friendly, and then removed many of the glitchy features, and made space travel MUCH faster.

The things they removed: city stage, aquatic stage, floral editor

They then slightly changed the appearance of the game to appeal to a wider audience.

However, it ended up with a very unified and continual theme.

It was not as different as you think.

I like this version of spore because you were the author of the whole game.The official version of spore is way to cartoony. Ea made maxiis change it so 3 year olds can play, meaning more money. I can imagine this. Maxis have just finished this amazing copy of the game, when EA turns up and says, "Fuck this! We want MONEY. Make a game that a one year old can play and we'll let you be published."

The reason for the loss of this amazing version is EA's fault and their love of money. They can literally go die for this.

@Trentest0 yeah that's kinda why EA gave us Dead Space and Dante's inferno because they obviously want money and they put alot of time and effort into games like those because they want money, and Obviously Maxim couldn't have done anything wrong on their own even though we saw this back in 2006 when they obviously had a solid creature creator and Maxim Totally didn't have time to develop(after delaying it's launch over 7 months) it so they changed almost all the interface and shipped it out.

I know that spore is a poorly made childish game, with the lack of pure natural graphics and awe inspiring adventures, but I have a feeling that there will be a new spore game dedicating it to science. newly improved graphics will make you think as if you are in the dawn of time and controlling life itself as if you are God himself. Seeing this video makes me want to cry. Look at everything: the fighting isn't a lame turn based type thing, you defend your eggs and other species do also, you can poke around with other environments in space stage and there are actual reactions...all this was gotten rid of because they wanted the creators to be more promenint. WHY DOES THE FIGHTING, SPACE STAGE GAMEPLAY, AND BEHAVIOUR OF OTHER CREATURES NEED TO CHANGE FOR THE CREATORS?! Seriously, I should just boycott everything EA.

Well, even if they did give us the old spore, it wouldn't have everything. The aqua stage is bugged to hell, the flora editor doesn't work. I think something happened to the Hut Editor. So basically, if they did give us the ENTIRE old spore back, we would barely be able to play it. But I do agree that as soon as they can work out the bugs and errors in it, they should give us this Spore, ASAP.

Graphics of this "beta version" are MUCH better than the actual spore. I bet there were more contents and phases , just look at it. It makes some atmosphere, makes you feel like you're in space for real and you're visiting a real alien world .
