it all comes down to the snakepit album, Axl didn't like it, so Slash recorded it on his own. I think it pissed Axl off because, Matt and Gilby played on it and Slash wanted them to tour with them,plus it was obviusly taking time away from writing and recording a new GNR album. Both Axl and Slash have said that Axl wanted to try and work on the snake pit material after initially rejecting it and Slash refused
What song is this and Axl Rose did not screw GN'R, Slash did cause him & Duff was highly addicted to heroin and cocain and Axl warned them in '91 that if they didn't cut or stop their serious drug addictions then they would be kicked out of GN'R..
@Estranged68 No one actually screwed up the band. Axl had psychological problems, he had an awful childhood. He just tried to save guns, all he did was this. Slash and duff had heroin problems. The band just slowly collapsed. If you buy Slash's book you'll understand better, so just read the book.
Axl had to bring Paul in because Axl could not get a hold of Slash while he was toruing his Snakepit. He wouldn't answer any phone calls or return any messages. Slash knew about Paul because him and Duff talked all the time. Countradictory stories of Slash again.
@Rosesfan1 if you say that about Slash then the same can be said for Izzy, and Duff.... They both didn't like the direction that Guns went so they left as well..... Izzy has 13 solo albums and Duff has 3......Slash only has one (Snakepit was a band, it was Geffen's idea to put Slash overtop of it), but in the end Slash will always be the one get shit on....and all he want to do is play his guitar....

This makes it sound like Axl and Slash really were butting heads over who was going to get full control of the band. It's sad.
I really hope a truce can be reached between the two. It's the old-school fans of GN'R, like myself, that try to maintain the belief that the original band will perform again on the same stage.
Axl does what he wants. I love the guy for his songwriting and vocal talents, but I hate him for his refusal to acknowledge his actions that helped lead to the disintegration of the greatest American rock band of all time.
Slash didn't want Zakk because of Zakk's guitar playing as two lead guitarits, Slash is off touring Snakepit and wanting to do another album another guitar player had to come in. It's not where's Axl it's where is Slash. Two diff worlds and thoughts and Slash not liking Paul at all.
@thepeter it's a trip how duff said he wanted axl to do a nin style album...axl already started to do the industrial thing on uyi my world was totally a nin type thin g...and it is cool.

Actually Duff recently said in an interview that nobody in the band caused the break-up of Guns N' Roses, it was the lawyers...

Slash seems like a really cool guy but IMO he's always been more interested in himself & his career than in GNR.
