Quite interesting in this video how you can see that there was no love lost between Clegg and Brown even in 2009. It's no wonder he teamed up with Cameron...
One thing I know that is definitely finished, is Nick Clegg. His political career will be over when he comes out of the coalition.
I laughed when he said the only choice is between the Tories and Lib Dems, and said that Labour was 'finished'. Labour are doing very well. They needed a time out of Government to reflect on where the party is heading. Soon they will have a very strong leader, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were in power by the next term.
1 min 12 seconds "the only choice now is between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats"
That turned out to be no choice at all. They were pushing that line in my constituency, saying "only we can beat the tories, if you don't want the tories vote for us". In the end Labour won by 4000 votes but a lot of people would have been fooled by this lie. And then they go and prop the tories up for the sake of power. I look forward to seeing these filthy liars wiped out at the next election.
Labour is finished lol! Ever since the General Election, Labour have been consistently been polling in the mid 30s while the Lib Dems have consistently been polling about 15%. To top it all off, Labour do not have a leader at the moment! Nuff said.
@a199215 Nick Clegg said that the only choice was between LibDems and Tories. Now that they are a coalition this statement seems even more silly than it did back then.
LibDem/SNP/SinnFein/Welsh/etc. = United Kingdom ! while... Torres = England ! If they go it alone then there is a theme for the next election ! I have a new idea for the next manufacturing theme and tax scheme that is in different catogories from 0% to 9% sort of a variable idea. If the US wont do it then the UK could do it. Evacuation of the Labour party into the LibDems during this time and afterwards.
i hate this nation so i am happy. lol you have voted for the LIB/LAB boys in such numbers that your new PM Cameron will find it almost impossible to begin cutting the deficit, now bigger than Greece's, and he will probaby find it impossibe to halt the tide of the half a million immigrants that your labour government has been leeting in each year. he has not even majority. lol he also has no chance of giving power to the people by bringing a law in stopping surrender of uk power to the EU. lol
Our tory-run council have been cutting back on funding for education & healty facilities for the last 4 years...& have been allowed to do so by our apathetic Labour MP...
LOL @ thinking tories will magically make britain's debt disappear without taking away from society's poorest members...life is going to be fucking hell...Fickle, whiny middle-england has spoken again. Thanks for nothing, cunts.
You can clearly see gordon Brown sweating bullets, he's grinning himself shitless right there 'cause he knows he's beaten. Nick Clegg just handed him his arse through a verbal assault of the truth, and nothing hurts more than the truth being forced into your face. Clegg is going to win.
When you open the newspaper, approximately a quarter of it is about the Conservatives and Labour and most of that is pointing out the flaws in both parties. The Liberal Democrats are very rarely mentioned. Isn't the idea of Democracy that the media coverage isn't controlled by any party? Most people aren't sure what exactly the Liberal Democrat's poicies are (similar to the Tories!). We really are not in a democratic country. Vote Liberal on May 6th.
The Labour Party looks very smug sat in the commons, but put them infront of a public audience on BBC Question Time and they're quivering in their boots.
@catseyebrows CLEGG IS THE LITTLE GIT WHO WANTS BRITAIN PUT IN IT'S PLACE. I QUOTE. All nations have a cross to bear, and none more so than Germany with its memories of Nazism. But the British cross is more insidious still.
A misplaced sense of superiority, sustained by delusions of grandeur and a tenacious obsession with the last war, is much harder to shake off. We need to be put back in our place. "
@catseyebrows I think this comment should be preserved as some kind of online Time Capsule for future generations to learn from, ie: everyone speaks the "truth" before an election
If people are complaining about a labour government, they must remember they won't even have a voice under conservative or liberal democrat governments. I remember Margaret Thatcher and her conservative predecessors gagging Gerry Adams being heard to the British public on news shows and many other horrors under a conservative government, including Thatcher stating "there was no such thing as a society" and life was awful for poor. Blair lifted our nation, I'm terrified of the other 2 parties.
I am sorry but, how can you say people wouldn't have a voice under a lib dem government when they have never had the chance. If you think taking the country to war in Iraq was giving people a voice, more fool you. The lib dems have been the ones that have been infront in many of the major issues, but the FPTP system that Brown conviently is considering changing, and the media limit the ability of the Lib Dem's to achieve the influence they rightly deserve.
I disagree. You have to remember Liberals are not exactly like the Lib Dems. Furthermore, it is just a central policy to our party, dropping it would destroy us.
This is the lowest point in modern british political history. Brown has lost his dignity, the support of the nation, his authority and now his supporters - in that order.
Just as Blair ws the first PM questioned in a criminal investigation, Brown might well be the first PM relieved of his post under the Mental Health Act if his condition continues to deteriorate.
I agree. Brown cuts a pitiful figure. He just does not get it. He carries on, believing the fighting alone is what impresses people. We want a leader, not a thug. We want a great inspiring speech-maker, not somebody who just spouts statistics and attack.
But therein lies the problem, NO MP has credibility anymore.
I just can't believe the British public, once again, are going to allow someone (remember the banks) who made their own rules, blame those EXACT rules as the problem! Do you see the hypocrisy here? I do and I'm only 21 years of age.
This government has done little in the last 5 years to be proud of, in fact I'd say it's done almost nothing short of line its' own pockets! And it will continue to do so until apathy stops.
I think most people realise that the Tories milked the system as much as Lie-bour - if not more, and having to grit teeth and vote for them to oust Labour is going to be pretty painful - but the fact is that countries can only be successfully governed by a politics of coherent manifestos - a group of independents with their own areas of interest will never get anything done. Yes the Tories are equally guilty of corruption, but they can't be any worse at governing.
And I don't think that the British public will let Brown get off thehook by blaming the system - just look at how much his ratings have plummeted after he said he would clean up the system!
why doesn't the man go while he has some dignity left. i dont support him but i wouldn't wish this hell on anyone.(and i know he probable deserves it- awful man)

This is the man who was Chancellor for many years and relaxed the oversight of banking!
He presided over the collapse and is suffering the backlash.
Hopeless.
And we never elected him, he has no credibility in our eyes.

If the Liberals ever become the second party again, they'll drop the PR proposals.
They did in 1906 when they won a huge victory. It's only once they were broken as a main party they started crowing about FPTP being rubbish.

Incidentally I don't agree that being attacked by Clegg means Brown is weak.
Clegg is a new voice for the LibDems - aggressive, eloquent and verging on the strident.
