Believe it or not, this is how my DBZ experience started. This was the very first seen I'd ever watched, and it captivated me ever since I first saw it. I was 7. The combination of animation, the dramatic music, and the condition of Vegeta's body enthralled me. Then to see a sparking golden aura erupt, which I had never seen before, and for the man to ignite himself up, to save his family and friends? Concepts I never even came close to grasping.

This series made me who I am today.

I love how this is from the HD re-release DVD's. You could tell because when Vegeta holds Trunks, it is almost an entire minute long. In the TV US version, they shorten little bits of stuff like that scene.

Vegeta was fighting at least a half-dozen saibamen when Goku was still just an infant, plus Vegeta spent his whole life traveling space and fighting various races of fighters of all worlds. Yet Goku spends one year in the after-life, so that somehow he always bounced? Course that dimension has had infinity time to gather moves.

@IBryceHaynes Final Explosion isn't really an explosion to a full extent. He's the center of it. He's releasing all of his lifeforce and ki as pure energy for the explosion, and the remainder is his petrified body. So it does make sense that he turns to stone.
